    19" LCD recommendations

OK, Since I had to give up my CRT, I have been missing my dual monitors. I currently have a Hyundai L90D+. The monitor is excellent for games and such. Mainly, I just want another LCD for programming and gaming. Honestly, I do not care the specs, as long as it is as cheap as possible. The...

    AMD Cool & Quiet Enabled

Not noticeably. Agian, whenever you run an app that uses a good deal of the CPu (games, benchmarks, etc.) the CPU will ramp up to full.

Want to build own PC for 3d maya/stuido max and gaming

A dual core processor would definately be helpful in 3DS max and possibly Maya (is it multithreaded?). 2GB of RAM is probably plenty. How much are you willing to spend?

    My processor is making noise

I can hear electrons moving... I thought everyone could. Maybe your ears needs to be checked :D. Seriously though, Only moving parts will make noise. If it sounds like it is coming from the CPU, my guess would be the heatsik fan. Is there something caught in it? Is there alot of dust buildup?

Thumb drive? transfer HDD? Why can't you burn the CD? Is it throwing errors? Are the files corupted?

Where id your buy your CPU and do you think the price was good.

newegg, but I was stupid and paid way too much ($30 over MSRP for a 3200+ winnie). Just do a little shopping around. Check the prices on newegg, monarch, zzf, mwave, and any other decent store I forgot. Choose the cheepest one.

Why is my RAID-0 not faster than RAIDless setup?

RAID 0 sucks. If any, the perfomance increase is negligible. All you are accomplishing is creating twice the chance of losing your data.

Quick and dirty A64 clocking guide **UPDATE** X2 OC information!

No. 200 means a 200:200 divider, or 1:1. 166 imploes a 5:6 divider. My Epox 9NDA3+ is the same wqay. Some boards show it this way instead of ratios or decimals. If you go up to 240 HTT for example, a 166 divider (5:6) will kepp you memory at 200.

Help Me Get A Decent OC!!!

It happens all the time to me... My CPU at 2.6 will fail after 3 hours at 1.55 V... Anyways, just follow the guide. Do one thing at a time. First, find you max HTT capable. Set your RAM timings to 2-3-2-7 and a 1:2 divider (100). Set the CPu multi to the lowest the board can do. Rasie the...

    BH-5 is back! From OCZ

Yreah, money is a bit tight though... need book and food money for the fall... Really, I hardly ever have that much crap going though. Maybe F@H, AVG (just the sheild, not scanning), and CS:S... Still I can getbinto the 800s or so. Depending how much books are going to cost, I may be able...

    Is this a Good Combination?

Check out the Epox 9NDA3+. It is a great board. Based on the nForce3 Ultra. Fully loaded with features and around $100 IIRC. It is a great OCer as well (arguably the best s939/AGP board). I love mine.

    Hows wireless and online gaming?

I get fine pings with my wireless (11 mb) seems fine, considering my DSL line is coming in at 1 mbps... I get decent pings in games (Usually 70-80 in CS:S and always under 100, unless I am trying to download stuff at the same time). It depends a bit on the server too...

    7200.7 & 7200.8

The 7200.8 has a 16 MB buffer compared to the 8MB of the older 7200.7 drives. This can yeild a fairly large performance difference, depending on the amount of HDD activity and the size of the files...

4 GB of RAM (4X 1024) with my X2 4800+, will it run well?

It will run ayt 2T, just like every other amount of RAM when all 4 slots are filled. Nothing you can do about it. Seriously though, 4GB is probably overkill for anything you are doing (even photoshop and video). Maybe try 2GB and if you do notice that you are swapping alot, then upgrade to 4...

    Two Ram options...

Yeah, just go with 2x1GB. They will have higher latencies, but will run aat 1T. They will probably balace each other out more or less. And still, with 2GB, you have plenty of room to upgrade if it ever comes to that...

    Need a DVD drive

Seconded. Arguably one of the best DVD drives (rurner or reader) out there and it has a great price tag. For best performance you may have to experiment with bioses, but for general use, you can't beat the price.

    No Idea about Video Card

Yeah, with most manufacturers, the ultra and SLI boards will be the same specs (THe DFI boards are identical, just a different chipset which can be modded). An ultra board will run you a bit less money and give you the same specs.; I would recommend the epox nf4 ultra board. The anandtech...

Power Supply for less than $70

I have heard good things about the Xcilio 450W PSU. It is supposed to be fairly decent quality and not too loud, and it costs around $55. It may have slightly more variant rails however. Anyways, are you planning on OCing or adding any additional components? If not, you could probably get by...

Should I do water cooling with this setup?

Yup, all any form of cooling does is transfer the heat energy away from the component, which will still heat up the case and room. The main advantage I see with water cooling is the noise level and e-penis factor. Watercooling won't yeild a much better OC than a decent air solution anyways.
  29. S

What would you buy if were you in my shoes.

Yup, but even the corsair should hit over 210... Not much, but definately makes choosing a divider easier... My mushkin can go over 220 @ 2.5-3-3 (haven't actually maxed it out yet).

Best 19" (or higher) LCD Gaming Monitor?

Response time is important, but you shouldn't judge between monitors based on it. some companies will shhow the best possible ratio (black to white IIRC), when grey to grey (or others) can run into the 20s. Just read the reviews to be certain. Contrast ratio, viewing angles (though not too...

    DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D

Yes, the epox looks like a great board. It seems to OC a bit as well (though it doesn't have as many tweaks as the DFI). It looks like a great board. I can attest to the quality of epox products with my 9NDA3+, great board. One of, if not the best OCing nf3 Ultra boards (maybe tied with MSI Neo2...

ATI sent me the wrong flipping video card...didn't they

Yup, that would an AGP 8x card... Any chance you just picked the wrong one? Check your order confirmation or whatever. If you actually did order a PCI-e card, call/email ATI and get them to send you the correct card.

    Best Socket 754 64bit money:performance cpu?

It would be the same price to get a DFI Ultra-D and a venice 3000+. OC that sucker and you will get a much better performing chip. Edit: I assume you want to keep you AGP card, so you will either need an AGP board, or just wait. I would recommend the Epox 9NDA3+ for a good OCing AGP board.

CPU Price Drops was is August 1st?

I heard July 1st... Obviously that didn't happen. It may or may not, but I think it is just rumors flying around now... That is when the X2 3800+ is being released IIRC, so that may be a good time...

    Venice 3200+ or 3000+

Yeah, the main benefit of ater is the noise. You don't need all the loud fans everywhere. With that motherboard, the 3000+ is perfect. The 3200+ and 3000+ will max out around the same level.

    Is my memory f*cked?

A couple errors shouldn't bother you too much in Windows, but you still should get a new stick. Did you just buy this RAM, or is it fairly old? Any errors are bad and shouldn't occur on healthy RAM.
