I was wondering, does anyone have a link comparing these two cards?
I'm looking for an upgrade and don't want to spend more than $150. That's already a little more than I wanted to spend so a 6600GT is out of the question.
Even if I didn't have a motherboard already (which I do, socket 939...
Today I went here and noticed the last article is from about one month ago.
I'm pretty sure Wesley is working on a roundup of nForce4/K8T890/Xpress200/SiS756/ULI M1695 boards, but I was wondering if he reads this space. I can't wait for the article to come out.
If Wesley Fink is reading...

I have personal experience with the M1689 (K8) chipset and it's very good. Single chip like the nForce but doesn't heat up half as much. :D
The price is great.
Overclocking on...

This one has basic overclocking options, not much voltage but at least you can bump the "FSB". Downside is only 2 DIMM slots.
... ECS of course. Anyone gonna try these?

Hi!
I have a hard drive with a Windows XP installation, my username is password protected and so is my documents and settings folder. I sold the parts on that system so I have to access my files from another Windows installation (installed HD on another computer as slave), but I can't get the...
A picture of the board is up at:

Before you shout "DFI" :D, please:
EPoX EP-8KDA3J: $74
DFI LANPARTY UT nF3 250Gb $103
That's a 40% delta.
OCWorkBench posted some information on the upcoming ULI PCI-E chipsets:
http://www.ocworkbench.com/index.stm
Some parts of the text:
"M1695 supports the AMD 64 Opteron, A64, Sempron + the capability to support the 1xPCI-Ex16. On top of that, the chipset also allow 2 x PCI-Ex8 to support...

From the review:
"Overclocking the Soltek K890TPro-939 was quite effortless really and the board seemed to enjoy a good boost in frequency. Perhaps the updated VIA chipset has...
From The Inquirer, so take it with a big grain of salt.

The most interesting part is this:
"Mainboard companies are said to be increasingly unhappy with Nvidia's attempts to make money 'any way they can', according to murmurings from one key...
I don't know if this will help the people running the new A64 PCI-E boards, but it doesn't hurt to give it a shot. From an X-bit labs articles on a Intel 915/925 board:
"The Foxconn 915A01-8EKRS2 mainboard, based on the i915P Express chipset, was the first to take place on our testbed...

"I just noticed that the board is auto overclocking when cpu intensive applications are excuted. This results in boosted results in benchmarks.
So far, there is no switch in the bios which allows me to turn it off."

I hate how slow my computer gets when running prime95 (hehe), I was wondering if HT makes any difference in real-word usage?
I'm not much of a gamer so I don't really care for the performance advantage AMD has in that area for my next upgrade.
The ABIT AX8 motherboard (and AX8-3rd eye) can be pre-ordered on excaliberpc.com now.
What really surprised me was the price, $115! $130 for the 3rd eye version.

There's a new board up on ABIT's site, the AX8.
"VIA K8T890 Based AMD Athlon 64/FX Main board, PCI-Express, SATA RAID, GbE, IEEE1394, ABIT uGuru? Technology".
No AGP slot though...
