Recently I built my first gaming PC. I was wondering if using an HDTV as a monitor would be a good or bad choice. I'm "needing" a TV, and a new monitor, so I was thinking that I should just get a TV that I could use as a monitor as well. Any thoughts?
Hey. Sorry for not posting for a while. I've just now been able to get my computer connected to the internet.
Anyways, I'm not sure if my graphics card is working. On the driver details it says that the driver if for standard vga graphics adapter. Also, when I try to play even solitaire it say...
Scratch that. I guess the case shipped separately. That is what is already 2 hours away. The rest of the stuff is in transit from 20 hours away and has only been going for about 6 hours. it got my hopes up. Haha
I bought the stuff from Newegg on Monday... and it's already in a town 2 hours away from where I live. Anyone think there is a chance of me getting it today? Shipped by UPS.
I got this one:

And I didn't even think about pictures. But I supposed that is a good idea. I guess I'll post them on this thread?
Thank you all for the input. I bought the parts aphelion suggested and a netbook. I'm looking forward to getting my package and putting it together. Again, thanks!
Thank you!
And I'm wondering if there is another promo code for the different PSU? The one that you put with the older PSU didn't work. Or if there are any other promo codes in general, that'd be cool.
K. Good to know. I've been trying to learn about all of this stuff recently. It just makes the purchasing process a lot easier with people who already know what they're talking about.
On the subject of the netbook, most of the ones around $250 have 1GB RAM with around a 250GB HDD. Do you guys...
Five dollars over isn't bad at all. And I don't know if I'll be sharing applications over the network... but I doubt I will. Probably just files. I'll try to get 64 bit for both desktop and netbook.
So go with everything on the build above but change the PSU to that one?
Also, could I get some feedback on the networking issue. I re-read it and realized it didn't make much sense. I apologize. Do you need to have matching Windows 7 systems for the network to be compatible? As in 64bit...
You are basically my hero. Thank you. Haha. I think I will definitely go with this build.
Another question for everybody: For the networking idea, do I have to have the same bit version for Windows 7 on the netbook as on the desktop? What would happen would be that I would have professional on...
So you're saying I should go with the GPU with the processor deal? And upgrade later?
And I know. D3 and that are just the main things I'm looking forward to right now. Haha
This seems like a really nice deal. Especially with the Windos 7 student discount. Will the graphics card that comes with the processor stand up to high end 3D graphics such as D3 and Skryim? And the cooling unit says Intel i7 compatible? Will having the i5 cause a problem of some kind?
1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.
-My PC will be used for gaming.
Edit: It will also be used for school related things such as writing papers.
2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20%...
Thanks for all of the help! This has all been a little bit overwhelming. I haven't been able to reply. Anyways...
On the subject of rooming. I'll either be staying in an apartment or living in a house with a friend. So I'll most likely end up having at least a little bit more space than in a...
I'm a senior in highschool and have been thinking about getting a computer of my own for a while now. But now that I'll be going off to college I think it is definitely time to get one.
I'm looking to build a gaming computer for 800 -maybe a little more -dollars.
My plan is to build this...
