    i5-2500k build

Thanks for the responses. I use a corsair 750TX. The AsRock Z68 Pro3 looks perfect for my needs. I noticed it has an alternative set of mounting holes for LGA775 heatsinks so I might be able to re-use my Xigmatek HDT-S1283. I was just wondering if you guys know of any issues with using this feature?

    i5-2500k build

    1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing. Games; BF3, Skyrim, WoW, Future MMO/RPGs 2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread $400-420 after tax + rebates for motherboard, RAM, video card. 3...

    Looking for recommendations

Hi everyone. My 8800GT recently died and I was wondering which video cards you guys think would pair up nicely with my system. Some of the games I play include: WoW, SC2, NBA 2K11, BF:BC2, Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age 2. I'm looking for a card that would be able to handle those levels of games on...

    faulty temperature sensor?

Just overclocked my e8500 to 3.8 GHz. While testing, one thing I've noticed is that my temperatures are very low compared to others under linpack load. Realtemp(TJmax set to 100) and Coretemp both report the same thing at about 53 degrees in 25 degrees ambient. I've heard many people hit as high...

    mounting motherboard

Hi, this probably doesn't matter at all but I'm a little concerned on which screw holes to use to mount the motherboard. Here's a picture. I know the ones that look like the left one should be screwed in but what about the ones that look like the one on the right? Does it matter that they...

    overclocking and ram

Hi, I'm a little confused about DRAM frequency and overclocking. According to the overclocking guide, "DDR2-800 can work on systems with a FSB of up to 400 MHz (anything more and you?re lucky)." I plan to overclock an e8400 to 4.00 GHz which would require a 445 FSB. Does this mean that DDR2-800...

    first time overclocking e7200

Hi, I just attempted overclocking for the first time on my e7200 @ 3.16 ghz (9.5x333). I have the vcore on bios set at 1.19375. My RAM is DDR2-800 and is currently running at 333 also (1:1) with 5-5-5-18 timings. MCH and ICH were left at stock voltages. I was wondering how everything looked? I'm...

Building a gaming computer for about $1,000

This is the one he suggested http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16813128337 I think that combo with the corsair 650tx is a pretty good deal.

    choices for upgrading PC

Unfortunately I do not have a 64-bit operating system for the 4GB of RAM. I suppose I can use an extra GB to make it 3 though. Thanks for your feedback.

    choices for upgrading PC

Hello, I'm currently planning on upgrading my current prebuilt Dell XPS 400. I'm planning to upgrade the processor. I'm currenly on a 3.2 GHz P4. Unfortunately, this would also require a new motherboard, case, and a power supply to go with it. I mostly use my computer for MMOs and plan on...

19" lcd widescreen tv as a monitor

Hello, I'm currently using an Element 19" LCD as a TV monitor through a VGA cable and GeForce 7300 GT. The resolution is set at 1440 by 900 pixels which I believe is the native resolution for using this TV as a monitor. The picture is good enough to read but there is slight blurriness that is...

    p4 ht vs. pentium d

Ah really? That's a bummer. I thought a Pentium D would work as some of the newer dimension 9150's came with Pentium D's. I believe they were 800 series. Maybe the newer 9150's got heatsink upgrades? Would I notice a pretty decent performance increase if I tried anyway?

    p4 ht vs. pentium d

I was wondering if I would notice any difference with the following upgrade. This is a medium gaming PC, mostly gonna be using it for some of the newer MMOs such as Age of Conan/Warhammer Online. I unfortunately cannot upgrade to a core 2 duo because I don't think my dimension 9150's motherboard...

    choosing a graphics card

Hi, hoping I'm able to delay the inevitable and upgrade my PC so that it'll last about a year longer (wishful thinking). I'd be upgrading to play some newer generation MMOs such as Age of Conan/Warhammer. I'll be playing at 1280x1024 and would like to average about 30-40 fps on ~medium...
