Well, it's sold by Activision and they are saying their new highly priced game Black Ops is not affected. So, FAIL by Activision/IW on MW2 it seems, not Sony hardware.
MW2 cheating was occurring before the current hooha but subtle. The game is now literally unplayable online.
It's disturbing...
Fair enough. This happened to me today and the OP was the closest I found from a random Google search, though there seem to be many very recent accounts of similar.
I would also add I HATE cheating and now have been leapt from 54 to level 70 with all weapons unlocked while just trying to play a normal online game!
I got an online message also (2 actually) while playing, that suggested I forward it to expand the MW2 experience...
A quick Google search for the last month shows this is not unknown -especially in the last few days.
I've played this game for at least 6 months and never seen anything like this, don't tell me I'm lying (although I know it sounds insane for anyone who hasn't encountered it!)
There was a guy flying around and shooting what looked like lasers/flamethrowers (with accompanying screeching sound effects). Literally, I was aiming at him levitating up in the sky (he was kind of an odd greyish colour) - he tore up the whole area he fired at. As I mentioned, this was the last...
I've played a shitload of MW2 on PS3 too, and ran into the same thing tonight.
I played 'free for all', entered a game already in progress and some w*nker was flying around with a jetpack shooting lasers!?
That game ended and the next game from the same lobby, every time you respawned there was...
