Thanks for the link! I'm basically just looking for the fastest gaming rig for the dollar and thought something like cyberpower's 10% OC for $19 would be a cheap and headache-free way to get there. Their Gamer Xtreme 2000 is conigurable as you suggest and within my price range, so that's...
I have a 1600x1050 monitor. Starcraft 2, Crysis 2, Dragon Age 2 and Fallout 3 are some of the games that I'd be playing on the new rig. I'm indifferent to crossfire/sli - I just want whatever will give me the best performance today for $1200. I pass my old computers down to family memebers...
I built my last couple of systems, but with kids, work & other commitments I don't have the time for the setup & inevitable trouble shooting of doing it myself again. I'm looking for a computer to be exclusively used for gaming and I have a budget of $1200. Are there any good desktop builders...
I love the Baldur's Gate & Icewind Dale series and am looking for another party-based RPG to try out. I've played NWN 1&2 and they were OK (liked the setting but not the gameplay). I didn't really like KOTR. Dragon Age & Mass Effect are on my list but I'm hoping to find some other...
I recently finished a new build with the following new parts:
Core 2 Duo E8400
Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L
Sapphire 4859 512 MB
2x1GB DDR2 1066 OCZ
Vista Home Premium 64
WD 500GB 7200rpm SATA
On my first attempt, the initial installation went OK, but it crashed while I was installing video...
Thanks! My version of Vista has service pak 1.
Ausm, I'll try your suggestion on the drivers next.
It looks like my DVD drive may be crapping out now. I tried to boot from the windows DVD, but when the computer tries to pull the files files my DVD drive won't spin up and the computer...
I just built a new computer with the following parts:
Mobo: GA-EP43-DS3L 775 P43 RT
Video: SAPPHIRE 100245L HD4850 512M
Mem: 1Gx2 OCZ DII 1066
CPU: E4800
HD: WD 500G SATA2
OS: Windows Vista 64
All I have installed so far is windows from the disc, everything from the mobo install...
The Freedom Force games have OK character interaction, similar party mechanics and are rendered completely in 3D. It's worth playing, but unforturnately no real substitue for BG.
I'm OK with the fact that their may never be a game as good as BG2, but I think it's weak that nothing has even...
I'm getting ready to start a new gaming rig and would like to keep it as cheap as possible. Therefore, I'd like to reuse my current case & power supply (Antec 400 Watt ATX12V v2.0). I don't overclock so I think that should be enough power for my planned parts:
Core 2 8400
Radeon 4850
2GB...
I have a EPoX nforce4 ultra motherboard and have an "F1" prompt to continue every time I start up. It was great when I first built my computer becasue it gave me a chance to check all of the measured parameters to make sure everything was working properly, but now that everything is running...
I'm getting ready to start buying parts for my new gaming rig in May. I have about $180 a month in my budget I can put towards it, but the wife gets a little irrate when I spend more at one time (even if I didn't spend anything the month before - married guys you know how it goes!). I also get...
My brother is looking at buying a cheap laptop to play Oblivian. What would be the minum specs (or better yet an actual brand/model suggestion) to play it at a medium quality setting?
I too am interested in this monitor - I'd like a digital widescreen but don't want something too big. This is the only thing I could find at newegg smaller than the 2005FPW...
How do you know it's a "TN" panel and what would be a better panel to look for?
There's no point in getting a SLI board if he's sticking with ATI graphics.
I just built my first computer with the Epox nforce 4 ultra and it's been great so far. I picked it because it was reviewed well by Annandtech for it's stability and ability to overclock - you should consider it.
I went ahead & did a fresh install since I wasn't in any rush - turned out great and have alreday logged an hour playing World of Warcraft on my new system :)
lol, no - so I just set it as first boot device and was able to load windows set up - thanks for the help :)
I'm going to just reinstall windows and take it from there.
Would it be easier for me to just reload windows rather than track down this error? If so, how exactly do I initiate the windows reload? I've rebooted the computer with the Windows disc on the CD-ROM drive, but I can't figure out how to get it to run since windows won't load...
It never gets far enough to start loading windows files though. When I start the computer it goes:
1. image of the EPoX logo
2. 1st bios screen (says hit F1 to continue, Del top enter setup)
3. 2nd bios screen (Verifying DMI Pool Data)
4. Repeats 1, 2 & 3
5. Then the error screen pops up...
I was installing the motherboard drivers on my new build (in sig) and I got the following error after restarting from installing the nvidia drivers (I installed them all except for the IDE drivers isnce I heard they weren't that great):
Windows coudl not start because the following file is...
I'm in the middle of building my first system and there appears to be a film of some sort on the heatsink of my new, retail 3700+ processor (includes heatsink & fan). Is this the thermal interface material? The heatsink packaging was raised in the area of the film leading me to believe that it...
Is there a time limit from when I order a part from newegg to when I can RMA it for replacement if it's defective? I checke dtheir RMA FAQ and couldn't find the answer.
The reason why I'm asking is that I'm buying parts for my computer 1 piece per month but I don't want to get screwed if I...
LOL, I just bought XP Home OEM for my new build & was wonderingw hy it came with a cable Y power splitter for free - now I know :)
On a side note, are there any differences betweeen OEM & retail when initially installing? This is my first time using OEM and I want to be prepared for any...
After reading this thread, I wanted to learna bit more about the differences between LCD & CRT viewable screen size.
My monitor at home is a 3 year old 19" CRT. I measured the actual screen diagonal length and it's 16". Would a new 17" LCD have the same viewable screen size then?
Is this true? My 19" CRT (from a 3 year old Dell) is actually almost too big for me because I like to comfortably take in the entire screen at once while gaming.
I was thinking about getting an LCD to free up some space, but if the LCD screen display area is bigger than that of a like sized...
I'm in the process of buying parts for my new computer and I've been pretty pummped that it will be able to play games in 1600 X 1200 resolution. I was also thinking about replacing my 19" CRT with a 19" LCD to clear some space on my desk, but I was kind of shocked to find that the 19"LCD's I...
I'm in the process of building my new system and I was wondering wha the minimum stock processor I would need to work with a 7800GTX. For exaple, would this video card be overkill on a NON overclocked 3500+ Venice? What about a 3200+?
