SSD mirroring to HDD in Windows software RAID?

Thank you for the suggestion, but I have already tried that as well. These computers run processes throughout the night using Windows Automation software, which requires a stable PC with no interruptions in the demand made on processor. Any Windows based backup software is out of the question...

SSD mirroring to HDD in Windows software RAID?

Sync software would not work for me; I have tried numerous packages already. It requires too much processor, and bogs down the system. The data that I need to mirror is large; about 1 TB in size, which changes every day. This is why I am considering either a Windows option (don't know if it...

SSD mirroring to HDD in Windows software RAID?

Thank you for the information, but the thread does not appear to answer my question. It only addresses enabling AHCI, which I already have set up. What I am more interested in, is finding out if using Windows software RAID will disable TRIM as it does with hardware RAID setups. If not, then...

SSD mirroring to HDD in Windows software RAID?

Thank you for the comments thus far. I am not sure you have been clear enough; it almost sounds as if you are saying it is not a good idea. :) Understood. Regarding, TRIM support on Windows 7 software RAID, does it exist? If I were to mirror two SSD's in Windows, would I loose TRIM? Thanks...

SSD mirroring to HDD in Windows software RAID?

Hello, I have read that Windows 7 Professional (and above) has software RAID features, including a hard drive mirror function. I was wondering if anyone here has any experience using this. I am particularly interested in mirroring from a SSD to a HDD. I know that traditional hard ware RAID...

Intel RST Driver slows SSD benchmarks..now I cannot uninstall it!

Ok, I think I got it. I reinstalled Windows, this time without the internet connection plugged in as you suggested. I started on the Gsata port for the installation, with AHCI disabled. Then after installation, I did the the registry fix to boot to AHCI, switched to the P55 Intel port on the...

Intel RST Driver slows SSD benchmarks..now I cannot uninstall it!

    Hello, Here is the reason why I would like to uninstall Intel RST: Before installing Intel RST: Sequential Read : 213.690 MB/s Sequential Write : 142.218 MB/s Random Read 512KB : 202.286 MB/s Random Write 512KB : 140.481 MB/s Random Read 4KB (QD=1) ...

Why are my internal transfer rates so slow?

Ok I got the OCZ Vertex 2 in, and everything is installed. I got very nice numbers at first, but as soon as I installed the driver that tcsenter linked to above, my write speeds dropped by 50% across the board. Before installing the EXE file: Sequential Read : 213.690 MB/s...

Why are my internal transfer rates so slow?

Ok, I just ordered a Vertex 2...will report back to let you know the results. Thanks for the help guys. Out of curiosity, is it possible to use these SSD's on XP machines rather than Windows 7? (specifically in regards to TRIM) Surely there must be some sort of patch/controller by now, that...

Why are my internal transfer rates so slow?

I have all the drives in the P55 sata ports. I am not using either of the two Gsata ports provided on this motherboard. I see what you mean. After installing the Intel driver in place of the gigabyte driver, my transfer speeds increased slightly (by a few MB) across the board.

    This is shocking!

Why are my internal transfer rates so slow?

tcsenter, In device manager under storage controller is just says "gigabyte GBB36X controller". But under the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, one is listed as "standard AHCI 1.0 serial ATA controller". Does this sound right? Also, during post, it says AHCI is detected and seems to load the drivers...

Why are my internal transfer rates so slow?

Wow, you guys are right on the mark; http://www.techspot.com/review/313-budget-ssd-roundup/page12.html Apparently, Intel and OCZ drives produce far greater results in the 4K read/write speeds. when I looked up the same test on the Corsair P128, and the 4K numbers were closer to mine (25 r / 12...

Why are my internal transfer rates so slow?

My SSD model is the Corsair P128 CMFSSD-128GBG2D. I purchased it on newegg because of the good reviews it had, and its specs listed faster read/write speeds than the intel. But from what I understand you are all saying, these specs don't tell the whole story, as they are only for sequential...

Why are my internal transfer rates so slow?

    Here is my shared WD Caviar Black over a 1GB LAN network; Sequential Read : 102.370 MB/s Sequential Write : 105.395 MB/s Random Read 512KB : 35.131 MB/s Random Write 512KB : 59.483 MB/s Random Read 4KB (QD=1) : 0.626 MB/s [ 152.7 IOPS]...

Why are my internal transfer rates so slow?

Most of the processing work I do is with thousands of small files, which seems to be the weakest part of the SSD (see below). I don't think I can post an attachment yet, but here are my numbers: SSD DRIVE: Sequential Read : 213.864 MB/s Sequential Write : 96.456...
