Building a PC that balances between heat output and performance

I appreciate the feedback, but for my specific setup a fan in a window isn't an option. I'll keep looking into some alternatives.

Building a PC that balances between heat output and performance

I seem to be a minority of people who have this issue. Or maybe nobody else mentions it. Does everyone with a gaming quality PC have to put a fan in the window or turn on an AC? I have a friend with a similar setup to mine that doesn't have this issue. Although, there are unknown variables...

Building a PC that balances between heat output and performance

I took a loot at the video card recommended and I'm a little confused. Here is my current card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121301 Here is a HD6850 I'm looking at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-374-_-Product What exactly would I look at to know that this one runs...

Building a PC that balances between heat output and performance

Thanks a lot for the feedback. I'll take a look and some options and maybe I can sell my 285 and replace it with something like you suggested.

Well that would cool the temperature of the items, but not the room. That will move the heat more efficiently away from the GPU, but the heat will still be there in my room. It's not so much that my PC is overheating, it's that I am.

Building a PC that balances between heat output and performance

I posted here a while back about my room heating up to unbearable temperatures due to my PC's high outputting components. I got a lot of good feedback, but I think I am ready to attack the source instead of working around it. I have given up. Sort of. I will still have this PC for certain...

My bizarre, closet office is too hot!

This reply is retarded. Much like any reply that says "how can I reply to something, without actually contributing something?" But for serious, my issue has actually gotten a lot better with the recent drops in temperature. I was afraid it wouldn't be enough, but now that autumn is here the...

My bizarre, closet office is too hot!

Pretend there is not an AC there. Please. It WILL NOT be fixed soon. I can not move the AC. I can not replace it with something else. It is not my wall. For those of you that have kept these two things in mind, I thank you for your advice. I'll be rigging something up soon, so I'll let you...

My bizarre, closet office is too hot!

When I come home from work, I'm usually either doing more work on Photoshop, After Effects, or Premiers CS5. I also have been playing some Starcraft II and plan on picking up The Old Republic when it comes out. I haven't been gaming as much on my PC because of the heat, but I used to play a good...

My bizarre, closet office is too hot!

I can try this. Also maybe I can get one of those tiny portable ACs if the price is right...

My bizarre, closet office is too hot!

There is ONE other way... I could build a new PC. I don't have a lot of cash, but if I can reuse some things from this and save a bit, maybe I can research and find out a good setup. I assume I'd be sacrificing performance, though. Right? Less heat is less power, usually. I could keep the...

My bizarre, closet office is too hot!

The AC is something we worked out. It's a weird old model that is in wall, so it needs special attention and repair, and because it's not hot out anymore I'm letting it be for right now. Above me is nothing. The attic ends somewhere in the middle of my bedroom, and the closet is past that...

Here you go. BTW that AC is broken. Also, excuse all those coats. I hang them on the back of the closet door. Uploaded with ImageShack.us

So here it is. Because of my very limited space, I have mounted shelves to hold everything. If there's anything else you want to see, let me know. Uploaded with ImageShack.us

If it comes between sweating like a pig or dealing with a fan, I'll choose the fan. I think I may be able to rig it up along my ceiling. I can always spackle when I leave here. It just can't be ridiculously extensive damage.

My bizarre, closet office is too hot!

Yeah I can't break down anything. As long as I don't have to damage any of the walls or door, I'm open for any ideas.

My bizarre, closet office is too hot!

Yeah, that's what I figured. What about underclocking? I've never done it before. Someone suggested it to me, but I don't know how to do that for my GPU.

My bizarre, closet office is too hot!

Before I begin, let me say that I CAN NOT change the location of my PC. It is not possible. Let us pretend that I will drop dead if my PC changes location. So please don't just say "MOV UR PC LOL." I don't want to explain WHY my PC is in a closet. It's a long story. Just accept that it is there...
