Hey man,
Really appreciate all the help I've been getting from the community here, so I need to make sure I pass it forward. :)
The GTX 260 on my rig totally could not handle BF3 on 1080p. I remember getting, what felt like, 20 FPS inconsistently on low details or something. Unplayable...
Thanks for the advice everyone. You're right, where I am now is perfect, and I really shouldn't spend the money for a minimal gain. My budget doesn't allow for much, so what I have now, I should be satisfied with.
Thanks again everyone, this really is an awesome community. :)
So you're saying I should stick with the GTX 560 non-Ti? Yeah, the more I think about it, the more it seems like the extra $40 for the Ti version of this isn't worth it.
- $150, GTX 560 Non-Ti (already own+have installed)
- $190, GTX 560 Ti ($40 difference + hassle of returning card and...
Hey guys, thanks for your responses. After some more testing, BF3 does run OK on Medium, but I tend to want the smoothest FPS possible for competitive FPS games such as BF3. I have another 4 GB of RAM sitting around (perfect match w/ my other 4 GB; haven't bothered to install yet since still...
Dang.
So I tried my new GTX 560 with BF3, and on 1080p, it runs OK at Low-Medium settings. But it's almost like I'm thirsty for MORE! If I were able to return this card, would it make sense to go for the GTX 570 at $300 (double what I had paid for the GTX 560)...
Well, I followed everyone's advice! I went for the GTX 560 for the $150. Just installing drivers now, hope it works well with BF3 and beyond!
Thanks again everyone! You guys rock! :)
Just wondering if it's worth upgrading from my older GTX 260 (the older edition of this, not the newer one) to a GTX 560 OC for Battlefield 3?
The GTX 560 OC I have in mind is this one, which I hope is OK: http://www.memoryexpress.com/Product...34482(ME).aspx
The rest of my rig is:
AMD...
I heard that using a DVI splitter will result in cloning (?) one display, so I would have Monitor 1, Monitor 2 and Monitor 3 (which is Monitor 2 cloned).
Is this the case? This is all I want. I have 2 monitors already, and I want a third monitor to be a copy of everyone on the second monitor...
Just wondering how dual-channel RAM and all this stuff works. I just recently picked up a new Mobo + 4 GB of DDR3 RAM:
- Asus M4A785T-M, DualDDR3 1333 Mobo
- Patriot Sector 5 G Series DDR3 4GB (2 x 2GB) PC3-10666
I was wondering, since RAM is so cheap these days, and there's a pretty good...
Hey guys,
Thanks for all your help! Upgraded to the AMD Phenom 3.4 Ghz Quad Core + MB + 4 GB DDR3 and it's worked beautifully.
Games run a LOT quicker, I was definitely very CPU bottlenecked. We're talking like 2-300% improvements here, and loading times are 2-3x faster.
It's...
Hey guys,
Thanks for all the helpful replies! I think I'll go with the X4 @ 2.4 Ghz after all. I'm not really into OC'ing, no, but I'll consider the heatsink (that complicated to install?).
On another note, is this CPU too powerful you think, for the GTX 260? I mean, the new Fermi...
Hey,
Upgrading my old system:
AMD X2 4400+ (2.2 Ghz)
2 GB DDR RAM
Geforce GTX 260 (896 MB VRAM)
Which CPU would pair better w/ the GTX 260 (and not bottleneck anything + provide value)?
The AMD II X4 640 (3.0 Ghz) or should I splurge for AMD Phenom II X4 (3.4 Ghz)? It's another...
Hey twinrider, thanks for the reply! Yes, that is my case. I mean, Mobos can't be too big nowadays right? And yeah, my GTX 260 is gi-normous. I had to remove the HDD cage to fit that sucker in there.
So yeah, I guess it should fit if you think so from your cursory look at it. Thanks. Anyone...
Just a quick question re: a new Mobo. I'm wondering how one can know if the MB can be properly seated into a given case without size issues? If it's too big, I mean, that's a big issue right?
I have a older Antec SLK2650-BQE (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129148) that has...
I checked out the prices (http://www.memoryexpress.com/Product...)/Default.aspx) and it seems pretty beyond my price point right now. I just want an upgrade that gives me the most benefit without getting a new PC altogether.
Thanks for the suggestion though!
For my situation, would is the Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2GHz a good choice? Or should I go w/ Intel?
And that should pair up nicely w/ my GTX 260 yes? Wouldn't bottleneck it so much?
Hey everyone,
I have a few (hopefully) quick questions re: upgrading my PC. My desktop rig is 4+ years old, and wondering if it makes any sense to upgrade at this point. My rig is currently:
- AMD X2 4400+ (dual-core, 2.2 Ghz)
- 2 GB DDR RAM (I have to find the speed of this again)
-...
I hear ya, OP. And to Molondo, fake clients are ubiquitous. My way of joining DoD and DoD:S games in the past was to get the server window to find all servers under my filters, and sort by players. I'd play with near-max capacity servers playing any particular map I wanted. Gone are those...
