Should i repair this PSU? (PT blown)

I thought of just putting 5A in a plug/moving it on RCD’d circuit and using it on a less expensive equipment. It is a high quality piece (was). It was running 4x 5870s 24/7 for just under a year (Bitcoin mining) with a very few pauses. I bought it second hand with only 30 days warranty, but...

Should i repair this PSU? (PT blown)

Hi, I have quite expensive out of warranty PSU which had packed up from what i assume was overheating. 2SC3320 power transistor had literally broke in two. It is pretty cheap on its own, but would take couple of hours of soldering to get to it/replace. I do not know much about PSUs...

Crucial’s M4 SSD is inherently faulty - AVOID

And if you take care reading Crucial’s own release: It affects all M4 drives after 5184 hours of up time, regardless. 5184 hours is just over 7 months (well within guarantee, killing off all Crucial's profits if even 20% are RMA'd). Please point me to another SSD product with similar fault...

Crucial’s M4 SSD is inherently faulty - AVOID

ohh, not again. Two weeks? Read the crucial's thread, please. Spreading FUD? Do find a word that is not true in any of my posts, quote and argue. I can just as well tell everyone that you are an idiot, based on your last post, and that would be much harder for you to disprove. Stop calling...

Crucial’s M4 SSD is inherently faulty - AVOID

Me, plonker, sorry- figured out how to update the title now - fixed. As to my replacement drive - it was delivered [very] late and was clearly used (0001 firmware on the label, corrected by hand to 0009), works fine, however, with 0309. Still cannot get myself to go for Intel's offerings -...

Crucial’s M4 SSD is inherently faulty - AVOID

Okay, people. Call me whatever you choose, but first at least read the original thread and check how many of the remaining posts are not ‘edited’ or made up by mods. Yes, you do not have any issues with your M4 drives just now, but how does it warrant removing/editing >50% of the posts on...

Crucial’s M4 SSD is inherently faulty - AVOID

No, my username was ‘notatroll’ and all my posts were senselessly deleted by wicked Crucial’s mods. Seriously, the problem seems to be with drives purchased in May-April and it looks like some form of time-related imminent internal chip failure. Firmware, available space, type of use or OS...

Crucial’s M4 SSD is inherently faulty - AVOID

So you did. You may also admit if there was a problem – why don’t Crucial? To be frank – i’ve RMAd mine and have no issue apart from them covering it up in such extreme way. Even if <5% of drives are affected they make it sound much worse and discourage their customers for no good reason.

Crucial’s M4 SSD is inherently faulty - AVOID

Sure, how many working M4s do you have? Check all posts that are still there but had been ‘moderated’ – you’ll get it. I’m not against Crucial per se, have plenty of their memory which is solid. Unfortunately their reaction to a bad product is unacceptable. Instead of working with their...

Crucial’s M4 SSD is inherently faulty - AVOID

Crucial’s forum being moderated as we speak 6 pages down to 4: http://imageshack.us/f/269/crucial.jpg/ They are trying to cover up a serious flaw with their chips, and by any means, apparently.

Crucial’s M4 SSD is inherently faulty - AVOID

Just had my 256 GB M4 fail (os/primary drive) - loads of pain. Point is - RMA gives you the same inherently faulty drive expected to survive <6 months. Even used/refurbished - so you cannot say how long it will last and have to back up weekly. Posted just to warn you off - AVOID. Crucial’s...

    Weird behaviour 6870.

Thanks for a prompt reply. Yes, can get core to 1k stable in AB, as long as i do not touch the fan, 11.11 divers (tried 11.9-11.10). While cold it cannot swich 2d/3d causing driver recovery mode (cycled), works fine in 2d until warm enough??? (The fan duty cycle does not change meanwhile)

    Weird behaviour 6870.

Hi, Need your help on this issue please. Reference pcb 6870, standard clocks, new. The card has troubles witching 2/3D clocks while cold. If overclocked/ given some time to warm up it works okay, but would not allow manual fan adjust (okay with core/mem adjustments) cycling driver recovery...

Should I replace Samsung F1 (working disk)?

Sorry if I was not clear. OS/boot/utils/major staff I use – Office/Acrobat/Photoshop/Quark/etc. are on SSD. This is a working drive only for bulk of applications/games. I noticed quite slow Civ V performance (definitely disk-related) so that prompted me to ask. F3 1tb is only £40 here...

Should I replace Samsung F1 (working disk)?

Hi, Have SAMSUNG HD103UJ (1tb/32mb/7200rpm) as my working disk – bulk of applications/games/etc. Should I get newer same class HDD now as they are so cheap or there would not be much of an improvement? If so which one would you recommend? TIA.

ATI 5850 cannot come out of sleep

ATI 5850 cannot come out of sleep

Thanks for your replies. Yes, it puts monitor to sleep with no option to wake up. (no different input/re-connection/etc is working). Latest mobo BIOS and all other soft – just shite AMD/ATI work. I am really tired now. Raised ticket with ASUS – no hope for any reply, really. Anyone?

ATI 5850 cannot come out of sleep

Hi, Upgraded 8800GTX (Ultra speeds bios mode) to Asus’s 5850. Vista x64 Ultimate, ATI’s 10.6 drivers, NEW CLEAN INSTALL. Power setting are not to sleep ever, not even drives, but the freaking card/drivers/some other DAMMIT shit puts PC to sleep with no option to wake up – only hard...

Eah, well, convinced me – need one 25x120mm for my htpc – shall look for a bargain Noctua on ebay just for curiosity’s sake. RE:5850 The noise from stock looks to me mostly vibration-based. Maybe i can somehow rubberglue the triangle base of that stock fan? No warranty/do not need the...

Just how hot 5850’s VRMs are?

Ha, Well i’m in the UK where 25C is the max ambient (for a few days per year) so these 32mms work at max 60% and when properly mounted they are in my experience are indeed best cfm/noise ratio. Must admit that i never bought Noctua-like ‘designer’ overpriced fans so maybe missing the point...

Just how hot 5850’s VRMs are?

Hi, Have Thermalright HR-03 Plus from my 8800 GTX and now upgraded with 5850 (Asus). Absolutely hate stock fan noise. So HR-03 with good PWM fan (fed from the card) is the route i want to take. Unfortunately I have no space in my case for their VRM-R3/4, but have quite a few of their...

Want to play GTA IV @ 1920x1080, what to upgrade from 8800 GTX?

No. Works fine (at max settings 1600x1200) on my Q6600/8800GTX 3.2/Ultra speeds so either -get better cpu (money well spent) or -shelf the game and wait for spring gcards price war – there is really nothing justifiable v4m-wise at your gaming resolution to spend money on, unless it is a...

[Hardware Issue] New Rig - Plethora of problems.

Sounds indeed like memory/mobo or rather HDD controller issue. I’d try it all out of the case first just to be sure you’ve put it together fine and not shorting anything/everything is spinning fine, etc. Then check heat spreaders on chipset/south bridge for overheating/not heating enough – may...

    Best v4m low profile card?

    Help! Computer randomly beeps.

Since you cannot disable it via device manager it does indeed sounds like a fan failure to me - CPU fan’s RPMs go too low causing beep. If you have a spare PWM fan try it instead and see if that fixes the issue.

UPDATE: Dell C521 graphics card failure when card is put in (Lights 2 and 4)

Your PSU should me more than enough but just in case try to lessen load on it by removing opticals/hdds/usb devices/unused fans and see if that helps then try this card in another pc if you can.

    Help! Computer randomly beeps.

Long enough? Does it beep when idle? Disable fan/thermal management and test. Also try forcing reassigning IRQs and use different usb ports for your equipment if any. Try another keyboard/HID if available. Alternatively just disable the pesky beeper altogether in device manager.

Just to confirm 3D graphics WEI in Win7 x64 on 5870 is indeed showing lower than 8800GTX. .3 difference in fact. Drivers, disregard. While i agree with comments about bottlenecking CPU and insufficient memory, resolution is the biggest setback in your case. So much in fact i see little reason...
