Has anyone switch away from GEICO and got a better rate?

Geico was the same cost as metlife for me. And metlife covers a lot more than geico ever will.

    My E90 got crunched!

I saw this on e90post, glad the lady came back. I'd mention anything and everything to the body shop (including the steering issue you are now experiencing) and have them do a full workover. Hopefully the frame isn't damaged since you mentioned the C pillar damage.

What are better brands for laundry appliances?

I have an electrolux front loader washer and it is fantastic. I wouldn't recommend anything else. I also have an old (read:6 years) Maytag Neptune dryer that I got off craigslist, and that thing is a champ.

    I want a Dodge Challenger R/T

Does it have to be new? I bet you can find cheap Charger R/T and Challenger R/Ts for cheaper than that. Should be relatively bullet proof, but dont go beyond the 2009 MY.

What was the last popular color before everybody starting buying white?

I always play "spot the rental" game, and most of the rentals are white/silver/black. I have to assume they skew the results to those colors since they buy so many cars each year.

Spend 2500 on a mattress set

Wife has had many many knee surgeries (and we are in our mid twenties) so I basically give her a big blank check when it comes time to purchase a mattress. Last one was a Sealy beautyrest memory foam top, king size, with height adjusted legs. I could care less (I used to sleep on a futon for 5...

Rocketraid 2300 Raid 5 4x2TB causing 100% system utilization, then crash

Thanks for the post Emulex. I did some testing and I apparently have bad ram. The ram wasn't bad when I tested it with Windows 2008's built in tester, but Memtest86 said it was bad within the first 3 seconds. So I pulled those 2 sticks and the system has been rock solid stable since. I would...

    Pandora One

True. I too can't tell the difference between 128k and 192k from Pandora. I do like the convenience of just launching an application as opposed to going through those steps listed. The lack of mobile ads, since 10 hours of each week are in the car, is nice. Plus its only $3 per month.

She will be missed....our '02 Blazer w/249K on her, sorta died yesterday

I'd have to agree and do the same thing. ONce the main rear goes, its rebuild/rebuilt time. Might as well drive it home and even if you get 2/3rd there, you just cut your tow bill by 2/3rd

    Pandora One

No ads, stand alone app, unlimited streaming. I use it about 45-50 hours a week so $3 is worth it for the lack of ads alone.

Help me design my rendering rig

Heres an optiplex that has an i7 2600k, 16gb ram, 128gb SSD with dual Radeon 6450 cards. May do okay for you on the graphics side. http://imgur.com/2gucD Bonus: You can buy 2 of these for the price of the dell workstation above

Help me design my rendering rig

That raises the cost since you need a graphics card, because all Dell systems will require a Precision workstation instead of an optiplex desktop. Good news is that they are built like tanks. Heres the best deal I can find without any negotiation with Dell and no real "sale."...

Correct, DDR1 does not work in DDR2 which does not work in DDR3 and vice versa. If they were the same DDR types, they should work.

Do I have a dud? (Seagate Barracuda XT ST33000651AS)

I'd have to agree, Seagate/Maxtor are not very good drives. I prefer WD, and samsungs as of late. I first started to hate Seagate when my 2 month old 500gb seagate drive died and took a large website/video project with it. (yes yes, backup, blah blah)

Rocketraid 2300 Raid 5 4x2TB causing 100% system utilization, then crash

Some backstory. Had this card RocketRaid 2300 on a Dell Inspiron 530 Win 2k8 r2 x64 server with a Raid5 4x500gb Seagate drives and it had 100% uptime. Time comes to update the server to: Q6600, EVGA 570SLI motherboard, 8gb DDR2, 74gb raptor, etc (old system) and replace the 500gb drives with a...

    Honda CRV or Ford Escape

My wife drives a 2009 Mercury Mariner (cousin to the Escape) and we love it. 22MPG average (she drives 60 miles a day highway) and has plenty of power out of the V6. Get preapproved or finance through dealership?

On my last car purchase (1.5 months ago) I went in with 2.49% pre-approved through PenFed. I told them that I already had financing and unless they showed me a lower rate, STFU and TakeMyMoney. Dealers get kickbacks if they finance you so they found a better rate at my bank (PNC) at 2.19%. Had I...

Ran across a good deal, bought 335i. Update 3: In the shop

It appears the rims you have are not staggered, so I'd recommend ditching those for a staggered setup with some Conti ExtremeContact or PS2s, that should help with your loss of traction. A LSD would help as well, and around a 1500 upgrade. You should look at BMW coding options now. Buy a cable...

Just a note about running your car "hard" *ahem*like it was meant to*cough*, especially with your new found power. The 2007 Model Year did not have an aux oil cooler with the sport package as standard equipment. That was later added with the 2008 model after many complaints of over-heating...

XP Pro RDP vulnerable over the internet?

if you want to do RDP to home from work, you can do 2 options with relative security and safety. 1) VPN. Build a vpn server, log in, RDP 2) RDP. RDP to a high port, like 45123, but tell your router to forward 45123 to 3389 for x.x.x.x. This will probably require DDWRT or Tomato, unless your...
