NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 860M+ GPU 2GB GDDR5
"The chosen graphics processor found in the Alpha is based on the GTX 860M - which, at an architectural level at least, is identical to the desktop GTX 750 Ti we reviewed earlier this...
Doing a quick check on Amazon and ebay.... Nope. The "new" prices are about the same. The "used" prices are higher. No effect. With no real competition in regards to new hardware until Q2/3, I don't think they're going to do anything out of the ordinary.
Completely agree. The 980 should be at 970 prices. The 970 should be the $200-250 part and the 960, the $150-180.
Maybe Nvidia should have been more careful with their "4x performance" slides when first discussing Maxwell years ago.
I just wish we'd get something concrete sooner rather than later. Last I read it was "early 2015". I guess March would still be "early" by their definitions. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a 1H2015 release vs. 1Q2015. Frankly, a 3Q or 2H wouldn't be surprising at this point either...
I'm chiming in on my personal experiences. There's a number of reasons why I've tended to avoid AMD cards. In my younger years, I would stick with X for Y reasons and debate fervently about it. These days, things are better from both companies. I do like Nvidia things quite a bit, actually...
Right now, Amazon is selling an XFX Radeon R9 290 for $259 and it will come with free games. That said, you can get used ones from Amazon for less. Additionally, there's an offer on eBay for a Sapphire Tri-X for $219. 290s are an extreme deal right now - especially if you don't mind used...
I'm still sitting on my GeForce 660. I'd like to get one of the new cards, but they're really out of my price range for now. I'd love to see what AMD brings to the table, but I'm going to have to wait until next year for that.
There's been a temptation to pick up a new Radeon 280 for...

Does anyone have any thoughts on how will this appointment affect AMD?
Add to that, how do you think Rory Read's tenure went?
A friend has a 300w power supply and was looking to get a 750 Ti based on the numerous reviews and even Nvidia's site which states only a 300w is required. Yet, when going to purchase any of the available 750 Ti cards, all state a 400w requirement. Are manufacturers just being overly cautious...
I submitted the thread too quickly. I could have made it check boxes too. Next time around, I'll make sure to include that as well. :) Thanks for this!

This is not supposed to be a free-for-all in regards to fanboy bashing or negatively ripping on someone's opinion. This is meant to be a meaningful and non-abrasive discussion of technology and the possibilities going forward in regards to PC gaming. Be civil and polite please.

From what I've read from a number of devs, bottlenecks are one of the things that Sony was acutely aware of.
From what I've read, PC and Console hardware should not be taken in a 1 for 1 comparison.
Remember, these are not near final specs. Both links seem to be similar enough that you may be looking at one "source" piggy-backing on the other. VG247 claims "multiple", so who knows how deep/true that is.
That said, Nintendo's system does look good, from what a number of devs are saying...
That's not exactly what I was referring to. Your previous statements read almost as if it was from the P.T. Barnum of Microsoft. There's more to it all than what you're relaying. There's plenty of solid places you can read up on this stuff.
Just some friendly advice.
Touchy. I didn't say or imply that. Comparatively speaking though, yes. Nvidia seems to have driver support that lasts longer than AMD's driver support. It's not worth getting into a flame war over.
Windows 8 tangent: I hated it at first. The more I use it, the more I like it. It isn't a train wreck. There is a learning curve though. That's the biggest problem. It's not that it's hard. It's that it's different. A HUGE difference, until you realize that everything you need really is...
It depends on the developer and tools used to create the game.
Dragon Age: Origins has better textures on the PS3
Dragon's Dogma has more particle and atmospheric effects on the PS3 (you can see it in the demo just after the dragon burns everything around)
Mass Effect 2 had "enhanced" graphics...
No. It's a refresh of current systems. Power considerations, lower costs, etc. PS3s and 360s will continue to sell for quite some time, even with the release of the PS4 & 720.
