I stand corrected.
Never owned a Nvidia card that ramped the fan at boot like this before but it's good to hear that this is a normal occurrence from both companies. Now I won't have to complain if I get a Nvidia card next upgrade and have the same thing happen.

I was going crazy trying to figure this out on my own and no one where I lived knew the answer to that question. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't something serious that would require a rma since those restocking fees can be brutal.
This is the first ATI video card that I've owned so I don't know if this is suppose to happen or not. When I first boot the fan on my ATI 5770 from Sapphire spins up and down and then the computer boots normally. So i'm wondering if this is normal for that series of video cards or is something...
