What ram to use with this overclock?

I'm planning to overclock an athlon ii x2 240 (2.8 ghz, 14x multi). It supports DDR3-1333(mhz) max. What overclock is possible and what ram will complement it without being overkill? (i'm thinking ddr3-1600 9-9-9 downclocked to 1333-8-8-8 at 2.8 GHz and climb from there)

Want to get a Phenom II X2 555...

I came across this unlocking thread http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1499697 It has 8 out of 10 X2-555s successfully unlocked. Thats good :)

Want to get a Phenom II X2 555...

...I want to unlock the two disabled cores. Does anyone know the success rate for them, or specific batches? Also what is a good matx mobo for unlocking/overclocking? I'd like an 890GX board (and use the 6gb/s SATA with the next release of Intel SSD) but that chipset dropped support for core...

What's better about the XFX over the sapphire card that gives it better resale value? better name recognition?

What do you think of this build?

I'll have a look into those corsair PSU's. I'll be getting a micro-ATX case, I wish Antec had more mATX cases.

What do you think of this build?

Great! I thought there wasn't a DDR3 version. It's interesting to hear that Flight Simulator X is poorly optimized. Easy to beleive. I Hope an SSD will help it with loading at least a bit.

What do you think of this build?

Hi, how does this build look? I would use it for moderate playing of Flight Simulator X at 1920x1200, hopefully with gfx as high as possible. -CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 620 ($100) (overclocked to ~3.25 Ghz) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103706 -mobo: GIGABYTE GA-MA785GM-US2H...

    AC adapter help

Hi, I've got a notebook that is missing its original AC adapter. The original was rated at 16V/ 4.5A/72W. The closest I have is a 13V/4.2A adapter. Assuming the adapter can exceed its rating by 300mA, would the undervoltage be passed the damage threshold?

Will smaller CPUs be less reliable?

I was thinking that as IC features shrink down to tens of atoms, will there be a noticeable increase in failures from things such as cosmic rays and electromigration?

    A few questions regarding wafers

Hi, there are often photos of people holding or otherwise touching an exposed wafer. http://regmedia.co.uk/2007/09/19/idf_wafer_1.jpg Aren't they dust sensitive? are they 1.used/2.usable after being displayed or handled? What about this image...

    electronics question

Hi, I have a printer that specifies the use of a 32V 2500mA AC adapter. I plugged a 31.5V 3.17A AC adapter in instead and the printer worked but I unplugged it after 5 seconds. Later I got hold of the required 32V 2500mA adapter and the printer works fine. Is it safe to use the 31.5V 3.17A...

    Strange monitor problem

GPU is putting heat into heatsink faster than the heatsink can remove it. Thats explains the ~30min delay. BIOS screen does not stress the GPU and create heat, so no artefacts. Test this by setting the computer air intake next to an air-conditioner to cool it down.

    Dell U2410

It is highly unlikely that it would beat the HP LP2475w in functionality. The HP LP2475w is fully adjustable, has composite, s-video, double dvi, hdmi AND displayport, plus comes with the cables for ALL of them! That, along with the great panel is why TrustedReviews gave it 10/10. If Dell put...

    Good quality LCD monitor ~$300?

Dell ultrasharp 2209WA. 22 inches, 1680x1050. It has an IPS. IPS LCDs are far superier to the cheap twisted nematic (TN) LCDs that swamp the market. See the Anantech LCD thread for a comparison of TN, VA and IPS panels if you haven't already...

What RAM frequency for a 1333 mhz FSB?

Hi, I'm planning to build a new system. I sought out that sticky (this one) that describes the relationship between FSB/DDR. I was happy that the e8400 was the example 'coz that's what I'm getting: Unfortunately the url to the chart has turned into an ad-farm and The Internet Archive...

    Recommendations for a LGA-775 Micro-ATX motherboard?

Hi, there. I'm wondering what would be a good micro-ATX LGA-775motherboard. I want to put a C2D e8400 in it plus a decent video card for gaming and media center duties. I'm after (in the following order) reliability, good quality, decent performance. After a few hours of searching...

Time to move on from ATA/PCI? (Updated with pics)

I don't think that every manufacturer should drop them overnight. I know some people still use them. It would be nice to see one or two forward-thinking designs is-all. To free up real-estate... and it should cost a small bit less too! Merged Threads-Anandtech Mod DAPUNISHER

Time to move on from ATA/PCI? (Updated with pics)

How 'bout this one then? :) I thought that six PCIe makes sense because at the moment 4 x double-height cards leaves no slots left what-so-ever. So with six, one could either to 2 x double-height cards and have two PCIe left to use, or 4 x single-height (preferably water-cooled) cards and...

    Stretch a 90.3mm² @ 65nm design to 90.3mm² @ 45nm. The result?

If a 65nm design was made with 45nm but keeping the 65nm die size, what would be the result of this extra manufacturing 'resolution' and precision? Putting aside that the transition in process nodes is not a simple copy and paste, and the less profit per wafer, wouldn't the yield be...

    Current state of power-over-SATA

Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone has any info about the current status of power over eSATA. It had been expected to have been finalized by now (they said in 'H2'), but there has not been any news. Also, I'm not sure it power over (internal) SATA was also part of the spec. I think it...

C2D price gone UP 30% in the past month!?!?

Hi all, I've been waiting over half a year for the prices of the E8400 'wolfdale' cpu to come down and it did, a month ago it was down to AU $200 at the cheapest seller and averaging around AU $220 (comparing prices at www.shopbot.com.au). However, in the past four weeks or so, the price...
