Possible leaked steam sale dates 2013

Just picked up Antichamber for $4.99. I suspect that'll do it for me, like others I've got a backlog I just can't seem to whittle down.

What we know about the Radeon R7 and R9 series (as well as speculation)

This speculation pleases me, thank you. I wanted to wait until this new generation but due to a card dying went ahead and picked up a 7790 awhile back. The card has been fine and price/performance is great especially considering the Bioshock Infinite bundle, but I've had this nagging regret...

Multiplayer game recommendation for casual gamer.

For Casual you could do Nation Red, its brainless but fun over beers. I think the current gold standard for PC mp is the ones mentioned already in this thread, L4D and TF2. Either one you can jump right in and have fun. Of course TF2 has a lot of depth but anyone can simply join as a soldier or...

    Exploration-heavy survival horror games?

Hah "Outlast" looks great! I picked up "Sir you're being hunted" today, only messed around with it a bit but it seems pretty neat. For the life of me I can't figure out the inventory system, specifically how to drop something. Quite frustrating.

    IGN: Orcs Must Die 2

Seems like the main way I lose in endless mode is from dying knocking 3 points off getting me to 0, as opposed to baddies actually escaping. The gnoll hunters tend to corner me and commence rape right when I'm out of charm to change their minds. One key as sorceress is maintaining line of...

    IGN: Orcs Must Die 2

I get it now. As far as I can tell there is no longer a way to make physics traps 100% guaranteed to throw back bigger enemies, best you can do is upgrade until there is a chance that it happens. Thus no longer the possibility of a smaller setup that cannot be passed without predestruction by...

    IGN: Orcs Must Die 2

I'm curious about endless mode. Given a 3x3 area with ceiling big enough for a swing mace and walls on both sides it is possible to build something that nothing that walks can get through if traps are upgraded to where the physics traps affect ogres, as long as you can take out those kamikaze...

    Defense Grid 2

Me too. The first few levels in that expansion were okay just for additional maps, but once they turned cutesy it got old real fast.

    IGN: Orcs Must Die 2

Great news, I hadn't heard about this at all. Now if same day someone would announce Defense Grid II (with coop) I'd probably immediately drop to my knees and begin masturbating furiously while singing "Perfect Day" by Lou Reed except in a falsetto.

    2012 Steam Summer Sale: DEAD!

Was gonna say the same thing. :) OMD is a great game, can't lose at that price.

Borderlands 2 release date and preorder

Yeah I put a ton of hours in Borderlands, surprising given the somewhat repetitive nature of many of the tasks. Just a great overall game. BL2 definitely gets an exception to my "wait until a steam sale" rule...

    2012 Steam Summer Sale: DEAD!

Now that is some good times for your money right there. They still look surprisingly good and do a lot more with physics and environmental interaction than one would think for a six year old game.

    2012 Steam Summer Sale: DEAD!

I bit on this game (hah) when its price dropped, and was very disappointed didn't get far before I stopped playing it and eventually uninstalled. There is just so much better stuff out there.

6/28/12 Steam Weekend Deal: Warhammer 40k games 75% off

I grabbed SpaceMarine as well, its surprisingly entertaining despite my complete inability to relearn that the space key isn't jump. Its got a nice little campaign, very linear but not too hard not too easy. Good times for $7.50.

What are you hoping goes on sale during the steam summer sale?

A good one to have in multiple account for guests is Nation Red. Is cheap, can do coop (I think even on one PC) and has pretty low learning curve just get in there and start blasting.

    Trinity review

The new Anandtech Diablo III benches definitely have me leaning even more towards Trinity as it appears to deliver a serious whuppin on HD4000 chip, in same cases almost putting the two into the playable vs. unplayable category. If at similar price point the two APUs are somewhat comparable in...

    Trinity review

Yup, you nailed it. If I'm looking for a laptop that can do some gaming, and I don't mean 60fps 8xAA 1080p where I'm noticing how lovely the shadows are on distant mountains gaming we're talking just being able to occasionally jump into Team Fortress 2 or Left 4 Dead when I want to drink beer...

    RIP Enemy Territory: Quake Wars?

I think it was a very underrated game, and maybe the reason it didn't catch on was it was a bit harder to pick up and actually feel like you were useful or know what to do. New people would come in and just be confused about what to do, so would end up fighting each other for control of the...

    Walking Dead: The Video Game

Same. Got Dead Island for sale on Steam. I loved L4D but after awhile it was almost like forcing myself to fire up Dead Island so that I didn't feel I completely wasted money on it. For me L4D is still the best "a few friends and lots of beer" type game out there right now, almost like the good...

    orcs must die! worth it?

Well worth $5 IMO, I got more hours out of that than lots of way more expensive games just from having beers while trying to build weird rube goldberg trap setups.

    Orcs Must Die! demo

Yup, it is really disappointing when you are close to being able to complete the ultimate Rube Goldberg trap setup and the level ends.

    Orcs Must Die! demo

Not so much go there as get shoved there. They are smart enough to pick the open lane, but the wall pushers will keep on pushing them over the middle barricades into the dead end lane so they'll have to backtrack around to open lane to try again. Tar on ground in open lane slows them down enough...

    Orcs Must Die! demo

Yup bottlenecking is the key, more important than actually killing to be able to maintain control. I guess exception would be trying to 5 skull everything where total time is important, but generally creative use of barricades and tar can seriously bog down a horde of any size. An easy one...

    Orcs Must Die! demo

I agree, that thing never makes it into my load-out. I did see a picture where someone had used it pretty cleverly, they had a tall narrow entryway so had wall arrows stacked three high on each side and blowers to kick orcs up into multiple arrow zones. Not sure how that effective it was but I...

    Orcs Must Die! demo

Seems like lots of the higher traps are more fun than practical, they are just too expensive. I can do a lot more with upgraded versions of your basic spikes, wall arrows, and tar than just about any of the fancier stuff. Upgraded spikes are only 300 and they slow orcs down too, I've had maps...

    Orcs Must Die! demo

That would be great, man would me and my buddies consume some beer if they had that. Two players could even go as far as choosing complementary upgrade paths.
  27. W

    Orcs Must Die! demo

I'm not anywhere close to finishing it yet but already has great replay value, every time I get a new trap I can't resist not going back to earlier levels that challenged me to redo.

Brilliant game. Thats the second time this forum has pointed me in a direction that I never would have found (Terraria the other) mucho hours. I absolutely love it.

What were some of the finest hours you've had with a game?

Unreal Tournament. That was my first online game and man did I pour hours into it. Plenty of nights going to bed with cramping fingers, I probably could have run thru the maps with my monitor turned off picking up the power ups. After I finally gave up on UT (the last one was underrated...

    Terraria: A 2D Minecraft Clone

I'm having lots of fun with it too. I haven't done a lot of online reading mostly just figuring stuff out for myself, unfortunately that the game started to get tiring it was just such a pain to get around near lava or in the corruption was thinking maybe stop playing too much like work. Then...

Looks like Borderlands 2 is official!

Me too, totally unexpected how much time I ended up spending on it, it is still on top of my Steam "total hours played" list.

    Brink release date announced

Thanks for the videos guys, I remain optimistic on this one. One thing I liked on the mission video was the guard mission they mentioned at the end, sounds like if don't want to get to deep into things you can just jump on and have a mission of going where others are fighting for general...

    Borderlands DLC playthrough order?

I had same reaction, and have read similar from so many others. Despite the mission repetition (find the pieces, turn on the things, get the key, kill the big guy, clear out the baddies, etc.) Borderlands was just an outstanding game with lots of play hours for your buck. I've not read anything...

    Brink release date announced

Cautiously optimistic. I thought ETQW was somewhat underappreciated, unfortunately the learning curve was a little bit steep and that probably had a factor in it ever gaining any traction with player counts in online server. It sounds like this game has a few things going for it, one being...

    ********BORDERLANDS discussion thread*******

I just started this game SP last night, and I've found it to be really enjoyable and somewhat addicting. For some reason finding really cool guns is a great motivator. The little trashcan robot needs to go though.

Why does everyone keep recommending the 5750

    I've got a 8800GTS 320, it would be a perfectly valid upgrade.

Downgrading GPU for power consumption or energy savings

Come on man any of those low power cards is fine, spending time making a decision on a 7 vs. 12 watt idle draw is just silly. Skip eating out for lunch a couple times a year and cll it even.

    Left 4 dead 2 demo?

Chainsaw is great when swarmed, zombs just melt before you. Hell if I've got one with enough gas in it I'll go kick a car alarm vehicle just to bring 'em on. Two other great additions: 1. Nade launcher. Kinda worthless a lot of times because too much team damage risk, but if someone in...

Quake Wars or UT3 for low end PC?

They'll both run fine with that video card and 2 gigs. No problems at all.

Which to buy? Left for Dead 2 or CoD:MW2

Why? L4D2 is much bigger content-wise than L4D and has new gameplay features, that's like saying Civ IV should have been an expansion pack of Civ III instead of new game.
