    Driver/BIOS Updater?

Yeah, the only software I remember coming with the ASRock is the tuning utility and it doesn't have the update feature. I guess I will keep going the manual way until ASRock decides to put something together.

    Driver/BIOS Updater?

Hey Guys, Does anyone know if there is a Driver/BIOS update notifier similar to Windows Update that monitors your components and lets you know when a new update is available? I hate having to check a million different websites and then search my version number. Thanks! System config below...

    safe cpu temps WHILE gaming

The most popular choice (and the one I have on the same processor) is the Hyper 212+ by cooler master. Its pretty big though, so check the inside of your case to ensure it would fit (same with ram slots).

What do you think of the AsRock Extreme 4 P67 board ?

I did the same thing. Luckily I have a microcetner about 5 miles down the road. You really cannot beat their CPU/Mobo prices. Especially their AMD combo purcahses ($40 off any AMD Mobo with the purchase of an AMD CPU, which is already heavily discounted).

What do you think of the AsRock Extreme 4 P67 board ?

After doing the build, I think the only thing I would change is picking up Black ram instead of blue :D. But at the same time, the blue ones match the blue slots that are open, so it makes sense either way. I would recommend looking at replacing the fan on the 212+ though. It does get a little...

What do you think of the AsRock Extreme 4 P67 board ?

I just put my build together using this board and I have nothing but good things to say about it. Here are some pics of the build, and a component list. https://picasaweb.google.com/112744753001772435239/SandyBridgeOfficeComputerBuild02?authkey=Gv1sRgCJSF3LPAgtimmQE# Case: Fractal Design...

"Houston, this is Tranquility Base. Can anyone make a stable P67 motherboard??"

I will throw my hat into the ring for ASRock P67 Extreme4. Build has been running 24/7 for about 5 days (how long I have had the system) without a single error or BSOD. Currently running stock but will be overclocking shortly. Its running with a 2500k for reference and a 212+

    New 212+ install-Temps?

What I have noticed, at least with motherboard utilities for temp monitoring, is it only displays the highest core temp. At least that is what I have seen with ASRock, when I have the Extreme Tuner open with HWMonitor.

    New 212+ install-Temps?

My thread should be a pretty good starting point for you. http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2153422 Thermal Paste with direct contact heatpipe coolers is trickier than others. So I would read that guide that is posted, and check your thermal compound application first. Then make...

First time Overclocking! i7-2600k + Maximus IV

Found a pretty good step by step tutorial for beginners on OC'ing Sandy Bridge. http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/overclocking/39184-p67-sandy-bridge-overclocking-guide-beginners.html

    New Core i5 2500k build

Sorry about that formatting. When I put it in, it was an excel table and looked normal. The 4.2GHz overclock temps were the auto-overclock tuned by ASRock in the Bios. I just set it to the 4.2GHz profile and let it go from there. The drop in load temps does seem pretty good. Knocking 3 degrees...

    New Core i5 2500k build

Alright. So I went ahead reoriented the 212+ to the "horizontal" (read: fan position blowing horizontally) orientation and checked the thermal compound spreading. It wasnt very "spread" at the edges of the processor, so I add 2 dots per the linked method. Put the fan on the heatsink so it is...

    New Core i5 2500k build

Thanks for the input man. Anyone agree to have the ram blowing towards the ram, or blowing towards the rear? I would think to have the fan to the rear, like DE said.

    New Core i5 2500k build

Ok, so just so I am 100% clear, I am going to turn the heatsink so the fan of the heatsink is facing the back of the case, or facing the front?

    New Core i5 2500k build

Alright all. I am back home now and able to take some starting point temperatures. Below are my temps, and settings (load settings Prime95 Blend Test). Stock Clock speed https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/C_4TVMHRsPhoqlDQfCkmCugFgCKAqwe6GwbyHdc6rD8?feat=directlink Stock Clock speed, idle...

    New Core i5 2500k build

You're right. With the cooler in the vertical orientation, if I would have raised the fan maybe 1cm it would have cleared the ram fine. But I decided I like the aesthetic look where you could read cooler master. I am now learning that was an ill-advised move, lol.

    New Core i5 2500k build

Hey De, No problem. If you have any questions, I will be happy to answer them. As far as the heat spreaders, I did run into an issue with my G. Skill ripjaws ram so I had to shift them over 1 slot (with the heatsink in both orientations). The Fan was right over the top of the ram, and actually...

    New Core i5 2500k build

Sounds good. I will probably order another 120mm fan and slap that on the other side blowing air through the heatsink, to the other fan that is expelling it out of the back of the case. I left the computer running on idle last night just to see, and when I checked my temps this morning they...

    New Core i5 2500k build

Hey Guys, Got a little busy last night so I was not able to respond. 1. When applying the thermal paste, I did a pea size in the middle and twisted the heatsink back and forth slightly to help ooze out. I can pull it off and see how the spreading is and add two dots per the link posted. 2...

    New Core i5 2500k build

Hey Guys, I just got done with my new Sandy Bridge build and wanted to run some stuff by you guys and see what you think. Below are the components in the install: Mobo: ASRock P67 Extreme4 CPU: Intel Core i5 2500k @ 4.2GHz (just chose a pre-defined 4.2 multipler by ASRock) PSU: Cooler Master...
