Hello everyone,
I recently put together a new PC build to replace my aging desktop at home.
Here's a quick list of the parts I used:
Intel i5 3570k processor
ASRock Z77 Pro4-M motherboard
Kingston HyperX 3k 120GB SSD hard drive
G.Skill memory (16GB)

I've always wanted to build an HTPC that would serve mainly as a movie jukebox. It'd make my life so much more convenient if I could just search and play my movies thru a hard drive.
I'd like to put together an HTPC piece by piece, but on a budget. I'd like to keep the total below $500 if...
I've been thinking of getting an ultraportable device that I can take with me while traveling/vacation.
I have a laptop at home now, but at just about 6lbs, it can be pretty heavy to lug around. Been was checking out the latest offerings by different manufacturers and this caught my eye:
Asus...
This is my main desktop at home which I've had about 2 years now:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 (stock fan/heatsink, running at a stock speed of 1.86GHz)

2GB DDR2 memory
150GB WD Velociraptor hard drive
Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit

I bought a new DVD burner (NEC ND-3520A) to replace my old Pioneer burner
But for some reason, WinXP only recognizes it as a CD-ROM drive instead of a DVD-RW drive, therefore, my burning software (Nero) doesn't recognize the new burner as an acceptable recorder.
I have no idea why WinXP...

Being as it is my b-day today, my g/f decided to pay me a little visit at work.
She took time outta her work day to drive to L.A. (about 25 miles from her job) just so she can surprise me at work.
Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised :)
Here's a pic of her messing with my computer...

What can I do to quiet it down? Get a new fan? Get a new HSF?
Any advice?
