Yes, quite an old system.
I'd like to be able to play GTA4 and Bad Company 2, even on middle of the road settings, without building an entirely new system. Is there an 8x AGP graphics card I can put...
I don't even remember why I chose this name. Is it possible for a username change?
Thanks :D
(if an admin reads this and has the power and will to change it, I'd like something related to mexican food, or dirtbikes. Surprise me.)
She wants a more compact system. I can save by only buying what's necessary for a new form factor, re-using her optical drive, hard drives, psu, etc.

Depends on the cable. You can patch it back together with the original cord unless it's that horrible fiberized stuff.
Otherwise, you can still do it with another headphone cord and some soldering / disassembly skills.
I'm trying to find a 5.25" lockbox that I can shoehorn into the front of my case, and set up a couple false fronted DVD drive faceplates to cover it. The best would be having it be 2 bays high, with a keypad behind one of the drive doors, which would make the whole thing slide out like a drawer...
I have a thermaltake xaser 3 supertower and it had plenty of bays already. I'm thinking of upgrading to an even more monolithic TT product if possible, one with maybe 6 or 7 bays on the outside.
Already I've seen a sd card reader array (so handy!) a toaster and a cupholder + cigarette lighter...
I don't really want to run a blog, or twitter (ew), but I'd like to have a simple PHP page that I can update with what I'm working on, without an archive. Example:
"Bob is working on a client's proposal."
That's it. Just simple data. I could write this myself but my ability in PHP is...
So, is it gonna asplode or am I ok? (huge image of finished wiring up job) http://i35.tinypic.com/qn1out.jpg
I need to fix my PSP install so I can resize carp.
This is the forum with the smartest people I know, so I'm asking here.
I bought a dishwasher on clearance at Lowes. Saved a couple hundred bucks. The bottom of the door got bent on the way back when it fell over, c'est la vie. I don't really give a damn, I can straighten it out with a rubber...
(Firefox plugin, allows you to modify displayed elements)
I've gotten around to modifying the nuts and bolts of websites I frequent (via platypus) so they are more readily customized, but I'm not that good with javascript in general.
There's a website I want to register on that limits...
It's a display model at Staples and is marked down to $750. With tax it'll come to 810.
I know this model was new in June. I really like the size. I could just get the $600 Acer 5050 at Wal-Mart ($650 with tax) but the difference isn't really that big in price.. one is big, the other is nice...
The idea is that it can be securely locked away (in a safe, perhaps) but still accessed. If I want it cut off, I just cut the power to the access point.
The idea is that it is in a locked room of my house and totally safe and secure. I could store my tax and business records on it.

Ok, suppose I have a maximum of $500 to spend, counting shipping and everything, and I want to order right now.
I mean, crap, the best I can find is this $498 laptop at my local walmart. I think the one on the site is the same as in the store...
Critical Attributes:
Compactness
Silent
Long term durability (run 24/7 unmaintained for 3+ months at a time)
No thermal or EFI signature
I'm thinking, a mini/micro atx case, and a pair of raided 200gb drives. Silent fans. Rubber grommets between everything to deaden sound. Mylar casing...
How cheap can you go? I want a laptop that comes with a wifi card (or can have one added) that will run XP or ME and cost less than $400. Preferably in the $200-300 range.. yes it could be a clunker as long as it runs.
I'm in the same boat, I'd like to hook a friend up with a cheap but better computer (he's on a 233mhz.. shudder shudder gawd) for ebay, web use, music, etc.
I'd like to do it cheap, like this guy, same price range. Maybe he should just go the Dell route?
