    Re-imaging problem

Okay I'll burn it to a CD. Does it have to be a bootable disc? Yep the problem is I don't have a WD drive right now lowrider, the software came with a toshiba. Got some other things to do but I'll burn that CD later and give it a try. thanks Bruce

    Re-imaging problem

Ok a lot of good info. The boot CD I use was created by the Arconis software. The image is on a usb drive that windows sees. After it searches and and doesn't find the image it gives you the option of looking for a driver. Using that option I can browse the drive that holds the image. Lastly I...

    Re-imaging problem

Just an update. Remembered that I had backed it up once with the software that came with the toshiba drive. So I booted from the boot-disc only to find out that the acronis software will only restore from a WD drive. Are you kidding me what is toshiba doing shipping this software with there...

    Extracting files w/ win-7 64 bit

Thanks for the in put guys. I don't think it's the files. It's kinda funny, if I move the files to my old HDD (I have my Xp hdd on as a slave) they will extract. What I've found is that if I just double click on them using windows it will show the .exe and then I can run the program. Talking...

    Extracting files w/ win-7 64 bit

It seems that none of the zip files I had on XP pro 32 bit will extract in win7. I've used 3 different programs (winrar etc..) and they all show an error and will not extract the files. Is there another program I should be using with w7 ??

    Laptop HD adapter

It really looks like I've taken it apart as much as possible. The part I took off does what you said (turn it 90 degrees) but neither end is IDE.

    Laptop HD adapter

It doesn't look like any IDE connector I've seen. I mean there normally about 2.5 inches long, this thing is about .75 inches and kind of recessed into the drive. I read a post where a guy used a "mad dog megavault" external case with this drive, if I can find one cheap enough I've give that a try.

    Laptop HD adapter

Pulled the caddy off the HD, still no SATA or IDE under it. It has a little 18 pin connector??

    Laptop HD adapter

Nope that won't work. This HD is going to need a male, almost ribbon like adapter to go into it. The drive is a HDD2189- +5v

    Laptop HD adapter

Thanks corkyg, I might even have one of those in a box somewhere. Didn't think of it fitting a laptop HD.
