I had this issue when I updated to cat 11.2. Sometimes reboot other times hard hang and I would need to switch PC off first. I was pretty sure my PC was dying (CPU is overclocked for last 4 years) Problem was it wouldn't happen when I ran stress test like Prime.
A rollback to the previous...
Hi all,
I essentially need a second instance of the OS on which I can install various applications for testing purposes and I don't want to mess with my primary install.
Is it legal to dual boot or run a virtual machine with the same license of the OS?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

You could try using RadeonPro to set individual profiles. I've not had a chance to test with the new drivers (last I installed was 10.4 ) but I don't imagine there will be issues.
Does anyone here make use of the Image Scaling?
I can't seem to get it to use 'Maintain Aspect Ratio'. The last driver I used was 10.4. If I set the screen resolution lower than the monitor default I could make this selection and it would keep the setting when reverting back to the preferred...
Agreed.
Bearing the above in mind I recently picked up a Razer Imperator. I was surprised at how good a fit the mouse was for me (coming from an MX1000).
Good luck.
You may not need to lower you res every time. With ATI you lower the res to get the scaling option selected. Once you return to your native res the option is greyed out but still active.
That is of course only useful if you always want scaling enable.
I had this issue back in 2007. At the time I could not find a way to Enable AHCI without re-installing windows. I ended up sticking with the IDE.
I also don't believe that there was any noticeable performance difference between the two modes but that may have changed with newer drives ...
Some people have issues with Catalyst AI although I've never come across any myself.
I only upgrade my drivers every 3 months or so but have yet to have any driver issues with my HD5850. In fact I can't recall the last time I had a show stopping bug with either nVidia or ATI.
No problems running a HD5850 on Win7 64bit.
I don't recall ever having issues with sleep and video with Vista and Win 7. My sound card on the other hand did not like when I was on Vista.
I always thought that the BIOS would override any driver specific fan settings if the GPU got too hot. On my previous card this seemed to be the case when setting a manual fan speed ...
I would guess that they would try one of their less complicated chips on the new process.
If the foundries are ready early next year we may see a budget version of Northern Islands or perhaps some mobile chip?
At the moment it does appear that way.
I wonder if some of the entry level Fermi cards (between 50$-100$) would be able to provide a decent Physx experience as a dedicated Physx card.
At this point in time I would say that Physx is only worth while if your primary display card is in fact an...
Got an Asus HD5850 in November. Non of these issues with both 9.11/9.12 catalyst. The card has been running stock, I have not enabled ATI overdrive either ...
System is:
Core2 Duo E6750 @ 3.2
4x1 GB OCZ Platinum DDR2 (800)
Win 7 64bit
Asus P5K Deluxe
Seasonic MI500w PSU
You will only be limited if you want to go SLI; your mboard should allow any vendor if you are only planning on running a single graphics card.
Having said that, a HD5850/70 will be a nice upgrade if you going be gaming at 1920x1080 with with high AA/AF.
I was holding off playing RE5 in the hopes it would be fixed. Both my 4870 and 5850 still have the issue running Cat 9.12.
Oh well may as well play it without AA, still looks pretty good.
Interesting ... didn't realise PCE-E could impact the SATA controller.
Will check it later today.
In the mean time I've completed a complete run on SeaTools from Seagate and there were no problems detected...
Thanks for the feedback.
I added the hard drive yesterday; running along 2x250GB Barracuda's.
I am currently overclocking... I will play with some settings and look for latest drivers, can't remember the last time I updated the MB drivers.
System specs:

Hi all,
Does anyone know what the codes in HDD Tune Health report mean?
I'm particulary worried about the one that failed ...

It rocked only because we were starved for any decent graphics cards at the time. In my mind the only card to offer good value before the 8800 GT was the Geforce TI 4200 series. I also thought the HD4850 was superb value.
In any event you can of course wait for the next gen from nVidia, I...
The 5870x2 will likely be two 5870 GPUs on a single card. It would still be crossfired (internally between the GPUs') so you could expect similar scaling issues to using two 5870 cards in crossfire.

I like the idea of exhausting heat out the case but if I had a choice I would go for a quiet option.
