    Upgrading GPU for 30" Monitor

I honestly think that a GPU such as the 6950 is enough for most purposes at 2560x1600. There may be one or two games that you cannot run at that resolution with 16xAA and 16xAF. However, having looked at most benchmarks, you can expect about 40-70fps in most games.

    New Headphones

HD555s are good, but I would take the AD700 over those. Better sounding mids and wider sound stage. The HD555 do have more bass, if that is your preference. http://www.headphones.com.au/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10 http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=230381...

    Upgrading GPU for 30" Monitor

Thanks! Looks like Sapphire it is. I've never had any experience with either, but I did hear much more about Sapphire than HIS over the years. I did do a brief Google search and came across customer support horror stories with Sapphire. Both companies have their warranty/RMA services...

    Upgrading GPU for 30" Monitor

I figure I won't be missing much even if I do not get the option of PhysX. On a related note, I'm trying to decide between HIS and Sapphire. Haven't had experience with those two. Is one better than the other? Warranty/support?

    Upgrading GPU for 30" Monitor

I don't know if I will need crossfire. According to the benches, the 6950 provides solid fps (>40) at 2560x1600 in most recent games.

    Upgrading GPU for 30" Monitor

Thanks. That's exactly what I was thinking. PhysX is nice when it works...I might keep my GTX 285 for that.

    New Headphones

For that budget, it has to be the Audio-Technica AD700. Some of the best-sounding cans out there for under $100. If you prefer closed headphones, then consider the A700s.

    Upgrading GPU for 30" Monitor

I recently got a 30" so it's finally time to say thanks to my GTX 285 and move onto something more powerful and capable of handling the latest games at 2560x1600. I've pretty much narrowed it down to the 2GB Radeon 6950, which I might flash to the 6970 bios. Is this the best choice in terms...

    Please Help Me Choose Headphones

I'm fairly new to the audio side so I'm in need of some advice. I've been looking for good general (gaming and music) headphones. -- I listen to a wide variety of music ranging from classical to trance. -- I don't listen to anything with heavy amounts of bass. -- Preferably, I would want...

    Which Router to Buy?

Thanks for the suggestion, but it's quite expensive at $160. Would the 64mb make a significant difference?

Is my PSU good enough for my new system?

The power supply you have is fine.
  14. F

Should I get a new PSU for my build

If you will keep the 4890, the Corsair VX 550W is certainly enough. If you plan to upgrade to a beefier GPU (e.g. 5850/5870), I would suggest a larger capacity power supply such as the Corsair 650TX/HX or Antec TruePower 650W.

    Voltage jumping around

This is normal and is known as vdroop. Your voltage will automatically increase when the system load increase. It can also be caused by certain BIOS settings such as C1E/SpeedStep.

    i7 cpu voltage

Because the RAM controller is built into the CPU, you should not exceed 1.65v for the DRAM voltage. However, having a lower voltage is advantageous due to lower heat and more overclocking headroom. Because timings make very little (if any) real-world difference (except in synthetic benchmarks)...

    Which Router to Buy?

I am purchasing a router for myself. I mainly want a quality product and do not need wireless. At this point, I'm leaning towards the D-Link DGL-4100 but I'm also considering something like the Linksys WRT54GL with DD-WRT. My main concerns are stability (for gaming/torrents), quality...

    Help Choosing Video Card

They didn't have the 4890 in stock so I ended up getting the GTX 285 for $240. Do you guys think I should keep it or sell it for around $340 and use the money to get a 4890 with some cash left over? How big of an advantage is the 4890's GDDR5 versus GTX 285's GDDR3? What about the fact that...

    Which G.Skill DDR3 Kit?

6GB G.SKILL DDR3 1600 - 9-9-9-24 @ 1.5-1.6v or 6GB G.SKILL DDR3 1600 PI - 8-8-8-21 @ 1.6-1.65v They are selling for the same price. The second has tighter timings but requires a higher voltage. The other has looser timings but a noticeably lower voltage. Will I notice a significant...

    Slow Writing/Copying to 1TB Drive

I'm ready to conclude that it's just a problem with my motherboard. I'm going to be upgrading the system soon... However, it copies files less than 150GB with normal speed (70-90mb/s)...after that size, it gets about half way and drops down to 2mb/s.

    Slow Writing/Copying to 1TB Drive

It's not working properly again... this is starting to anger me... I tried switching all ports/sata cables. The other 2 drives are reading/writing at proper speeds...this 1TB still copies files at 2mb/s so it takes a very very long time to copy my music collection and everything else...

    Slow Writing/Copying to 1TB Drive

    Slow Writing/Copying to 1TB Drive

I understand that full format is best. I received my first 1TB and tried to do full format in XP. It went to 99% and then said "unsuccessful." I thought it was bad because it gave bad sector errors when writing zeroes so I RMA'ed it and got the second one. I tried formatting it in Vista...

I'm copying large files and many smaller files (2-20mb). Same result - 2.0mb/s on average...sometimes less. Do I really need to do the full format? I gladly would but last time I did full in Vista, it took 7 hours to get to 8%. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the OS or the drive...
