I see.. we'll it's not the fact that I don't need useless features.. it's just the fact that I want to be able to have 4 SLI slots just incase I want to run 4 video cards.. because I will be running 3 forsure.. but it's just nice to have an extra slot.. I also just ran across this MOBO...
sickamore, is that the only reason you wouldn't go with the rampage? or did you just have some serious issues with the mobo itself?
also.. do you mind giving me a link of the evga classified mobo you were speaking of?
I am looking to buy one of these MOBO's for my monster computer..
I need everyones input on which MOBO will be better.. in the long run..
I know most will say you need to know my specs.. so here they are..

OCZ 12GB of ram
2 GTX 460 SLI (soon will be 4 or 3 in a few months)

We'll muskie as for the spending limit.. I don't like to put one when it comes to a system.. I'm a strong believer in the saying "you get what you pay for" however.. I have already bought one 460 GTX.. but I can still return it.. and as for the i5 and i7.. I just don't want to buy the i5 and be...
Yes this was a fresh install of windows 7.. the PSU is 750watt.. should be able to handle the GTX 460 you would think...I also got the latest drivers from Nvidia website.. but for some reason it can't handle games.. so now this computer is pretty much useless.. and going to be building a monster...
I have a dell XPS 700 ... both of my cards 7800gtx died on me..
I replaced them with one GTX 460.. and everything went smoothly.. I was running
windows XP, but I reformated to Windows 7..once again everything went smoothly until I
downloaded Counter-Strike Source.. I would only get 30-40 FPS...
Thanks Muskie, I just noticed that.. yes it is mostly for gaming I don't really do any video editing nor any photoshop, I pretty much do a lot of hardcore gaming, and watch some movies.. if it's the same PSU but a 100 dollars cheaper I'll go with the i5.. what exactly is the difference between...
My pc.. is no longer up to par.. so I am looking to build a monster :P

I think I am having MOBO issues.. and I have no way to boot my pc to find out exactly what type of MOBO I have I would like to replace the MOBO and see if the issue you is coming from it...
I have an DELL XPS 700...and I am trying to find out what MOBO it has.. and which MOBO I can replace it...
No problem at all.. thank you for the input.. you've been very helpful.. but I have one more question for you.. I'm not sure exactly what company to go with for the ATI 5970...does it matter?

14 ms response time enables crisp and clear images
Viewing angles of 178° vertical and 178° horizontal

I've had a dell xps 700 for 6 years now.. and it still runs smooth..but I get your point..
I am running a 32 inch dell monitor.. that's all I will be using...
my last question is the video cards...I don't know if I should go with the GTX 480.. or the ATI 5970 ...seems like the ATI 5970 are...
We'll like I said.. earlier... it's not set in stone yet.. I know for sure 2 video cards.. but max maybe 3.. I think 4 would be out of line.... for just gaming... however.. I do understand that buying cheap and upgrading every year is the best way to do things.. I just don't want to buy cheap...
I don't really have any other parts.. that's pretty much what I was looking into.. I will not be overclocking.. not a fan of it.. plus don't know how to really do it.. and it kills the lifespan of your item correct?
and hydrox... why do you recommend those? any reason or just the price?
BTRY...do you mind taking the time to go over a bunch of things with me? I will list all my parts with links.. and go from there? if so that would be great.. here we go
As for the video cards.. I'll be going with two of these for now... will be going with 4 down the line sometime.. but not...
What's wrong with my writing? if you can't read it.. then maybe you should think about learning to read.. im not here for your english or grammer input.. i'm asking a computer question.. you wanna worry about writing.. then go to school and become a college professor. thanks.. and I did try two...
Yes.. thank you for that.. I will have to go with EVGA.. can't beat a lifetime warranty :)

I have been looking into the GTX480... but not sure which "brand" is the one to go with.. maybe some of you can shoot me some links? I read a lot of people say these cards get super hot.. I just don't know if it matters what brand to go with when it comes down to the GTX480.. thanks
We'll it's not that I am made of money.. I just want to build something that will last me 5-10 years.. if you go half ass.. and you build something cheap.. in about 2-5 years.. your gonna have to upgrade again...
however I am not doing any type of professional grade animation... but I do play a...
Truth is.. I don't know how overclocking works.. how to do it.. and if it's a bad thing on your parts.. does it ware them down faster? and if so no I am not looking to overclock anything...

Yes!!! I feel that if you are gonna build something...you might as well spend a little cash.. now.. and it will pay for itself in the long run.. it's true what they say.. you get what you pay for!
but I couldn't find the exact GTX 480.. you were speaking about? you think you can give me a...
