I guess 400 Mhz is more than enough :D. I thought the minimum is 800, since that's what is listed in Intel's Ark. They say: "Configurable TDP-down Frequency 800 MHz"
@LTK8K6: so then how does it reach 7.5W? Just by idling? Perhaps undervolting? I'm missing a piece here I think :).
Yeah, time. The person can't wait.
Anyway, I found out that these brands are basically some Chinese venture which has some offshore marketing office in Romania which handles manuals and advertisement and such.
So you can safely ignore my question now :D. In any case, I went for egreat after...
Egreat seems like a rather shady brand name if you ask me. But I have a limited selection for purchase, since this is for somebody in Romania.
It's either this egreat with 750 Mhz Realtek:
http://www.w2comp.com/detail.asp?catid=51479&Pdtid=589087
Or this one with 500 Mhz Realtek. PNI seems...
Got it some two weeks ago. It's awesome ::- D. I can't say more than that because I haven't run benchmarks or stuff. It handles anything I throw at it at 1920 x 1200 max details and that's what I wanted ::- D. What I can say is that indeed I got the 8 + 8 pin variant and it's one big card...
Awesome. Thanks for the confirmation guys! Yeap, I went ahead and ordered the 8+8.
I won't be doing much overclocking, mind you, but the advantage is having a good, stable card with rather silent operation.
Big THANK YOU to everybody.
SO far, I see that the clock speed of Flex OC is 860 to 925, but the VaporX is 950.
Then how come the Flex OC is more expensive?
The Flex OC with Boost...
MTDEW: Hi, thanks for jumping in.
Yes, I understand it is a switch, but it's cumbersome to open the case to *switch* it ::- D.
The Vapor-X with Boost I linked has a clock rated at 950 MHz. So you're saying that I can actually force it to stay at 950 *constantly*, right? Provided I have good...
Unfortunately, the BIOS button is *inside* the case (at least I don't see it in the back of the video card in any of the pictures). I can't go opening my case every time I want to play a game.
One more question guys: can you actually *prevent* the Boost feature from being used? What if I...
lehtv: thanks for posting the links and prices man :D.
Why would you recommend the 8+8 pin but not the other? VRM stuff I suppose?
As I wrote in my initial post: I am very skeptical about "Boost" cards because of that graphic in the AnandTech review. And later I wrote that "I don't like how...
Rikard: So what you're saying, is that if I use Sapphire's stuff, voltage control works, right?
lehtv & Shmee: what about this card? This is the one I'm tempted to get (see Specifikationer tab)...
Shmee: and which is the one with the best cooler? :D. It appears to me that the VaporX has a pretty decent one, or am I wrong?
Rikard: maybe they "fixed" it with the new drivers (considering there is something to fix - and I *DO* consider that there is something to fix => just look at the chart...
I was reading this rather old Anand review about the 7950 Boost. I was disappointed to see how its boost actually works, not consistent at all.
http://www.anandtech.com/show/6152/amd-announces-new-radeon-hd-7950-with-boost/3
So I would rather buy the Vapor X from Sapphire which at least...
Thank you Loreth & KingFatty.
KingFatty, big kudos to you for both posts. Indeed, your alternative makes more sense to me. I will do exactly like that. BTW, should I get an "active" adapter in this case as well? What's the difference between active and passive anyway?
As for the monitor: I...
Thanks for answering guys ::- ). This is my videocard:
http://aphnetworks.com/reviews/gigabyte_radeon_hd_6850_1gb_oc/3
So apparently it also has a DisplayPort.
But I think you might have misunderstood my question, because you mention getting a 3rd digital output, DVI.
I don't need 3...
Hello everybody ::- )
I have 1 x DVI input monitor, 1 x Analog input (via DVI adaptor) monitor and 1 x HDMI (which goes to a Denon Receiver which is connected to my Panasonic TV).
My Radeon 6850 can only handle 2 of these at the same time, which is VERY annoying. I always use my DVI input...
Ampfhr. I don't like batteries. Not very reusable. But on the other hand, the glasses with batteries might outlive the ones with built-in accumulator simply because batteries can be changed. Also, given the amount of 3D content I plan to watch, it's not like I'm gonna buy batteries every day :D.
Interesting! Didn't even know the Samsungs work together with the Panasonic TV. Thank you guys!
I guess I'll get a pair from each type.
So let me get this straight, the Samsungs can be recharged via USB from the TV or something, right?
There are 2 models of active Panasonic 3D Glasses I found. The TY-EW3D3ME and the TY-ER3D4SE. The specifications are here:
ER series:

Hm. Interesting information dookkulooku. Thank you! You made me read up a bit more on how plasma displays work. I guess I can say I'm fairly satisfied with what I read. I'm gonna go for Plasma. Dying technology or not, I do prefer Plasma quality.
Definitely the power ratings are not RMS, but they aren't bad either I guess.
As for currency: the Harman is about 1400 Euro, the Sony/Samsung about 800 Euro.
I think a set can have a better value proposition and right now I'm not looking for Hi-Fi. I'm looking for medium quality, enough...
I don't get it. Why is the Harman Kardon so damned expensive even though it has way less power?
Yeah I know power doesn't mean everything, but come on...
I'm planning to buy a really cheap desktop. But I don't want a very cheap mobo because I don't want to see it break after 2 years.
The H61 board is very cheap. But as far as I see, it has fewer power management chips around the CPU. Wouldn't that cause instability / even break the CPU after...
I'm undecided between those two Plasmas.
The Samsung is a bit more expensive even for the extra inch it has:
http://www.hifiklubben.se/produkter/platt-tv/plasma-tv/samsung_ps51e8005-_plasma-tv.htm
The Panasonic has raving reviews...
Hm. Thanks for all the help mate. I can't find any of those DLPs in Sweden, but I'm not so big on their cons either. I'm gonna go for the ST 50, probably the 55 inches one.
Kaido: nope, we were NOT on the same page. I didn't even know such TVs EXISTED. I never saw them in any shop around here in Stockholm, or maybe I just wasn't paying attention and I thought they're ancient CRTs. And yes, that's why I said I wasn't going to go with a blaster gun ::- D.
I read a...
From the Wiki article about DLP, I only listed the cons which I consider to be the most important:
- Some viewers are bothered by the "rainbow effect" - particularly in older models (explained above).
- Replacement of the lamp / light bulb in lamp based units. The average life span...
Kaido: I definitely don't want a CRT. I know they're quality kings in some aspects, but I won't be bombarded by one of those things ::- D.
My requirements are movies & games.
I've been at a shop right now and compared images (because it's very easy to analyze quality) on a Panasonic LED LCD vs...
Thanks for the valuable info you gave me here guys. I was leaning towards the ST 50. Now there's one more thing besides the 48/96 thing. That's the "Infinite Black Pro" thing which VT has and arguably a better glass. Does it worth it? I am not so sure. LOL @ the "COPS" argument ::- D.
Tomorrow...
Short question: why should I care? ::- ). Faster image updates I suppose. 48 Hz would not allow for 30 FPS in 3D, right?
Reason I'm asking:
http://shop.panasonic.com/compare/?itemNbr=TC-P65VT50&itemNbr=TC-P65ST50
Trying to decide between Panasonic VT 50 and ST 50.
