    Core temperature measurement software

Yup, and my hearing isn't that good (at least according to my wife :( ) I have no PSU fan and no discrete GPU. Hence the H67. So, my only source of noise is the Noctua fans and the case fan (but I haven't installed it yet). Meanwhile... since my OP I loaded CoreTemp and inserted the...

    Core temperature measurement software

I have a (massive) Noctua NH-U12P SE2 HSF with both fans installed, a fanless PSU and no rear case fan in a Antec Solo case. I can still hear the Noctua fans so was thinking of either removing one and/or adding the speed reducers that reduce fan speed from 1300 RPM stock to 1100 RPM or 900 RPM...

The other fans in the case are part of the Noctua CPU HSF I purchased so I assumed that they and the HSF would be v quiet. Even if the case fans are louder than a PSU fan it may still contribute to noise/vibration. I realize I may have over spent but I was just trying to find the quietest...

mfenn and Davidh373, Thanks for your responses. I exchanged the Asus P8H67-M PRO for the Gigabyte GA-H67MA-UD2H as recommended but kept the over priced PSU/Case because low to no noise is a priority and someone else has more sensitive hearing than me!

Please help me with 1155 H67 mobo options

@Patrick Wolf Good point about the HD 3000 vs HD 2000. Yes the HSF (and PSU) may be overkill but I wanted quiet and these items get consistently good reviews for low noise. What I'm really after though is mobo advice...

Please help me with 1155 H67 mobo options

Please help me choose a motherboard for my new quiet system. I've listed my just-purchased components for this system below and the mobo specs I think I need in parentheses. My old system is about 5 years old and I can't see re-using any of the parts in my new build (except my HP 6L old...

Ok, so I take it that the closer to 1.5V the better? Would you recommend Mushkin Enhanced Silverline Stiletto 8GB 2X4GB PC3-10666 DDR3-1333 9-9-9-24 or G.SKILL F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL Ripjaws 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1333 CL9-9-9-24 or something else

Fair enough Here's what I ordered so far : Case: Antec Solo PSU: Seasonic X-460FL RAM: Corsair XMS 2x4GB DDR3-1333 (dual channel to complement LGA1155) GPU: on board (see below) HDD0: OCZ Vertex 2 Sandforce 120GB 2.5in SATA2 SSD HDD1: WD Green 1TB (64MB Cache) HSF: Noctua NH-U12P...

Well I'm a complete noob I have to admit - just look at my post count. I took at look at the H67 boards on the ASUS site and I couldn't tell the difference between them except one had a larger form factor.

Right, that's how I interpreted the article but I could swear I've seen posts from builders planning on DDR3 1600 in the chips that are coming out next month, which is why I was confused.

According to Noctua site, that HSF supports the new socket as well. I'm also assuming Linux in a VM will be compatible with the IGP/drivers Finally, people mention DDR3-1333 and DDR3-1600 for SB but so maybe someone could explain where this wikipedia article states that only the early releases...

So, I'm pretty keen to hold off til the Sandy Bridge cpu/mobos arrive; however, I'd like to buy other hardware components before year end for tax reasons. Is is just the mobos that will need to be upgraded to be compatible with the new chips? ie if I was planning on getting DDR3-1333 for a...

So this new Sandy Bridge architecture will have equivalent or higher processing performance, consume less power, support IGP and be comparable in cost to exisiting i5/mobo combos? When do you think new mobos, fans, drivers etc. will be in the stores?

Thanks for the advice. - Interesting about the PSU. My experience is that the PSU tend to get louder over time so I figured a fanless PSU would be worth trying. - What about integrated graphics w/dual monitor support instead of a card? - Are there any issues with using 8GB in terms of Win7...
