Who's playing Minecraft?

I'm playing minecraft too (IGN: Synaesthesia). Is there any kind of Atech server going? :D Also, did anyone see the "Drrdrrdrr" caption on the mainpage of the minecraft .exe? I would shit brix if Notch implemented that :(. Not to say I don't shit brix already ><

Wait, wut? LoTRO F2P. Yes... Lord of the Rings Online goes Free-to-Play

Man, I would sign up for this just because of the LOTR connection. What are the general impressions about this game? I've only ever played runescape in terms of MMORPGs, so looking to find another solid, FREE MMORPG. Free as in not fenced out of 80% of the map. Hang on, you need to buy this...

    I7 870 = i7 950 in games???

Only just maybe. Games these days don't make much use of hyperthreading so that may be a reason. Overall, if you're going to be doing 3D modelling as part of your work, and still want to be able to OC and game, then 950 is better. If you have the cash that is.

    Building an i7 970/980x system for < $3000

Oh wow, i really need some sleep then =/. My apologies. Still a good chart for reference.

    Building an i7 970/980x system for < $3000

You should check this report out for a comparison between the 980X and the 970. http://techreport.com/articles.x/18581/16 From what I can see, the 980X is a pretty significant jump in processing power from the 970.

I7-875K or i7-930 , which one is the best choice for extreme gaming?

Lol, the 920 is 280 CAD here, so not that much of a difference for me personally.

I7-875K or i7-930 , which one is the best choice for extreme gaming?

Well, from where i'm going to get my system built, both the 930 and 950 are 319$ CAD.

I7-875K or i7-930 , which one is the best choice for extreme gaming?

Wow, thanks! I didn't notice that until you said it. Would an i7 950 be good for 3D modelling? I might be doing some of that in the next 2 or 3 years and just wanted if an i5 would be better for that or an i7. Also, is it true that 950 has a higher OC limit than the 930?

    First time build...

I'd also recommend the 1TB WD Caviar Black. It's odd, but all the slower and lower cached TB harddrives are more expensive over here then that one :D

    Antec TruePower Quattro 1000W

True. I'm looking at efficiency and life as well. I don't see the point in getting a 1000w that only has like 80% efficiency when I can get a much better PSU that lasts longer for the same price. About the noise, I have a crappy HP pre-built right now, with a Bestec 300w. Now i'm not sure if...

This is one of thre most ridiculous and over the top movie trailers I have ever seen

Nothing beats a horse-mounted-hand-cranked minigun (see Jonah Hex). Also, why are two sexy nurses shooting SMG's at random? Why is Jessica Alba in a bra w/ eyepatch? Is that the badass russian guy from Iron Man 2?

Do you still enjoy playing older games?

Lucas Arts has been releasing revamped Monkey Island 1 and 2 games for the last few months. I think they plan on having a full new MI game if enough buy the MI 1 and 2 Special Editions. They've also released a kind of semi-sequel to MI 4. Basically 5 episodes of similar lengths. So yea...

    First time build...

I don't know if you know this already, but do make sure that whatever mobo you end up choosing is compatible with your CPU (in this case a socket 1156, or LGA1156). I'm in a similar position to yours in that I didn't know a PSU from a mobo until 2 weeks ago, but I still got until April 2011 for...

Do you still enjoy playing older games?

As for other games, I'm planning to play the original Monkey Island 1 and 2 soon as I can get my hands on them. Good times :(

Do you still enjoy playing older games?

How!! Oh man, such memories. I used to play that when I was 10 :D. I didn't have a computer that time so I used to play it every time we visited one of my aunts (which was often). Whipping a biker off his bike with a chain is just too good.

    Antec TruePower Quattro 1000W

Wow, thanks for the replies! Didn't know that it was a noisy sucker. So, i'll probably be sticking to a Corsair 850W model. Will depend on the prices in April 2011, since my rig gets built then.

    Antec TruePower Quattro 1000W

http://www.memoryexpress.com/Product...18434(ME).aspx I'm confused. Currently, i'm looking at an OC i7-930 build with a Radeon 5870 + 6gb of DDR3 RAM and granted that this has more than enough juice to run that. I've read a few customer reviews on newegg that make it sound like a pretty bad PSU...

    Newbie's Guide To WaterCooling

I'm going to use my rig for probably 70% gaming and 30% 3D modelling (don't ask me what program lol). Anyways I digress, thanks to both of you for your help :). I think i'll probably end up going for either the VenX or a slightly cheaper cooler. I don't like noisy fans, so probably nothing under...

    Newbie's Guide To WaterCooling

So the lga2011 isn't out in Q2 2011? If that's the case, I might as well get a 1336 i7 setup that can OC pretty well. Still want to stay in the h50 price range, so would you recommend a Venomous X?

    Newbie's Guide To WaterCooling

Hi all, I plan on getting an LGA 2011 socket i7 (my system gets built around april 2011) and I plan to OC that a fair bit. Would any of you recommend WC for that, or just a really good fan system? I've been looking at Corsair's H50 system and the reviews look promising. Just thought i'd...

    Attention System Builders 2.0

+1 This list really helped shape things up for a potential build, though. Thanks a lot! Out of curiosity, does anyone here use dual GTX 460s (1 gb) for their gaming? Do they perform better than a single higher lever card (say, a 470 or 485) or are there any issues?

    Advice on casual gaming rig.

Lol, none of my family is really into hardware that much so i've been handling stock computers ever since I was 8 :(. Thanks for all the great tips guys. Really appreciate it! I think I'm going to give this project of mine a rest until after I'm done my 4 month coop placement. Incidentally...

The product key would work to activate a trial version too, right? Anyhoo, I did some digging and found out my PSU wattage - 300W. ATX12V-HP300BT (Bestec ATX-300-12Z CDR) is what it said on the website.

    Advice on casual gaming rig.

As an aside, I came across the Nvidia GTS 250 SLI card yesterday when searching newegg. The reviews say it's much better than the 9800, and it costs $120 or so. Any good? EDIT: This one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150365&cm_re=gts_250-_-14-150-365-_-Product

    Advice on casual gaming rig.

Uhmm, I have no idea where to find the wattage and ratings, short of opening the tower up. I'm really a novice at this. I had one of those university Vista upgrade to Windows 7 things which were download only, so I'm not entirely sure if I can upgrade to 64-bit. I'll check that out. How much...

    Advice on casual gaming rig.

Hello Atech! I'm a casual gamer, and not much of a hardware guy, so I was thinking about upgrading a 5 year old HP Pavillion computer in my basement to a casual gaming rig. Here are the specs: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU @ 2.40 GHz, 2400 MHz 2GB of RAM Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit Nvidia Geforce...
