What size is your flash card for your digital camera?

A couple 8GB cards for my 50D. One card takes ~350 RAW files. Filled them both this one time, but only because I was on a week-long trip with no access to a computer.

What camera & lens/es you started out with?

Mine was the legendary(?) Zenit-E in the early 90s with some Helios lens. it was my dad's but by that time he pretty much quit photography and it lay unused for a few years. I didn't shoot much and didn't learn anything and eventually quit as well. There was no one there to teach me, but plenty...

    Free EXIF tool for Windows

Hi guys, Although this is a software question, but I guess this is a better place to ask. What do you use for managing and editing EXIF data in your photos? A long time ago I had a command line program for this job, but I forgot what it was and being command line it was cumbersome to use. Any...

So, I was given some gear...

I shoot mostly aperture priority and on the 350D I couldn't override much, but on the 50D I can. I love how the most important tweaks are easily accessible with the funny joystick thing without releasing my hand from the grip. Definitely a keeper. And best of all despite being old the battery is...

So, I was given some gear...

Everything is fine now. And it's rather embarrassing... I had the wrong AF mode - AI SERVO. Found how to change it to SINGLE SHOT like in the 350D and everything's just dandy now. I shoot only stationary targets, so AI SERVO would detect minute movements in the scene, like changes in shadows...

So, I was given some gear...

I think something might be wrong with AF. If I select any point besides the center one it doesn't focus properly. The worst thing is I don't have a manual. Maybe there is some setting buried deep in the Custom Function menu that I need to tweak. Or something is wrong with the focus motor in my...

So, I was given some gear...

So, the weather cleared up and I went to town to test the gear. Holy lost shots, Batman! This thing is unforgiving! Of over 40 shots I only managed to save... 4:oops:. Totally not like the EOS 350D I used to use. I don't see myself outgrowing the 50D any time soon. Or ever.

So, I was given some gear...

Cool, so I really do have a Nifty 50. Unfortunately I can't buy from overseas so I'm going to order a Kingston Ultimate 600x 32GB card that I found locally and start hunting for batteries. Then I'll have to wait for weather to clear up and that is always a fun thing to do...

So, I was given some gear...

Hi folks, A couple days ago my father gave me his old gear that he says he hadn't touched in at least two years: Canon EOS 50D, Canon 24-105 f/4 L IS USM lens, Canon 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 lens, Speedlite 380EX flash, a cleaning kit and a carrying case where all this stuff fits nicely. He said that...

    Sub $10k stick shift car?

Great choice on the 'Stang. As a manual-trained European I'll give you a tip on saving gas - when driving around town shift at no more that 2500RPM and cruise slightly under 2000. With a V8 you have more than enough low end torque to do this.

    InWin MniITX PSU reliability

Found an offer for Dells with a 5 year on-site warranty. This alone beats any build I can spec, because in-house build would be limited to 2 year warranty for parts. Thanks, Mindless1, your explanation about total working hours and warranty was really helpful.

External DAC/AMP still worth it vs. modern onboard sound?

With headphones like that I'd definitely get an external DAC/amp. I don't believe there's an onboard solution that will bring out the full colors of your headphones. In your case it's like having a race car and then putting cheap tires on it. BTW, I envy you, those are exact same cans that I...

    InWin MniITX PSU reliability

Hi guys, It may be necessary for me to build a few SFF office computers (Haswell Pentium or Celeron) and price-wise InWin MiniITX cases with integrated 160W PSUs are very attractive. I'm not sure about reliability though. These things will have to soldier on for years and I understand that...

After scanning with Malware Bytes Anti-Malware and Anti-Rootkit the only suspicious thing found was OutBrowse. I checked network and process activity with Resource Monitor again and still nothing. Will have to trawl through the logs.

    I think I got a trojan...

Hi guys, After booting up my PC (Windows 8.1) this morning I noticed a small window come up briefly after logging in - it looked like one of those magnifier apps showing a small part of the desktop, but the image was horribly compressed and it was scanning my desktop diagonally. After a couple...

    If Unstable will Bios...

I had a similar mishap a couple weeks ago. I have a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 with an i7 980 and was experimenting to see which BIOS version was the least buggy. When I tried the last non-beta something a little worse happened - my OC settings were all random after one boot-up. When I tried to...

Anyone with Cherry MX BLUE experience

I use a Razer BlackWidow, but mainly for typing. For that it is the most pleasant experience I ever had. I also have a heavy hand and almost always bottom out when typing, but the spring resistance is enough to rest my fingers on WASD without fear of accidental presses during gaming. MX Black...

LGA1366, six memory sticks and tRFC

Looks like you guys have great luck with memory compatibility. When I first got into 1366 I used an Asus Sabertooth, but it was so finicky with memory that I finally lost my patience and replaced it with a GA-X58A-UD5. Unfortunately by that time the supply of triple channel kits had dried out...

LGA1366, six memory sticks and tRFC

Hi guys, I've had my 1366 rig for a few years and it isn't the most stable or reliable rig that I ever build. I always chalked it up to the fact that there's a bazillion devices either integrated on the M/B or connected to it and all the drivers just don't play nice with each other. But I...

    NA/EUR Volvo XC90 repair manual

Hi guys, Perhaps any of you have access to a repair manual for a left hand drive Volvo XC90? I need to somehow get to the HVAC blower and don't want to destroy anything. So far I only managed to dig up a UK (right hand drive) manual, but it is no good for me.

    Your preferred mechanical keyboard switch?

Only spent time with ALPS black, MX black, MX blue and MX brown and MX blue is my favorite. I don't really mind that it's "not suitable" for gaming. The reassurance of the tactile feedback and a click is more important.

    Corsair H60 and LGA775

I have the first version. It is (on paper) LGA775 compatible. Good idea about the washers. I'll have to get my grubby mitts on a more modern Intel mobo and measure that metal block for thickness. If everything ends up cool I'll post pictures for great Ghetto rigging justice :D.

    Corsair H60 and LGA775

Hi guys, I have an unused H60 that I want to give to my brother to better cool his Q9650@4.1GHz, but... the last time I tried mounting it there was not enough pressure and needless to say the cooling was abysmal. Looking at the manual it seems the H60 backplate absolutely requires that metal...

Accidentally pressed the back clear CMOS button

Ah, yes! Usenet! Where foaming at the mouth could happen any moment for truly irrational reasons. Oh, the memories... Good thing I don't have to deal with it anymore. To the OP - I really don't think you did any damage to your board. I did it a few times myself when I had a Rampage Extreme...

Accidentally pressed the back clear CMOS button

And why is that? I do that sometimes when in a panic, like OP seems to be. When I get an answer in one of the forums, I post a reply in all the others, thanking for the efforts and explaining how the problems was solved. I see no reason to get upset.

Anybody with an Optimus 4X HD? ROM suggestions needed.

Hi guys, I have an LG Optimus 4X HD, also called P880 in some parts of the world. Thing is I'm sick and tired of LG's bloatware infested Android and I'm finally ready to take the jump into custom land (the fact that LG stopped supporting it was the last straw). However this is my one and only...

    10k oil changes?

FIY, for a Volvo D5 the oil change interval is 15k according to the manual. Mine has over 190k on the clock, serviced at the dealership, exactly as the manual states with no engine problems.

Just upgraded to Windows 8.1 (rant)

OK, I'm now officially declaring that I'm sick and tired of 8.1 inconsistencies and overall pretty naff usability. Wiping the drive and going back to 7. I'll miss the superior multicore performance, but at least I'll be able to do what I want in a consistent way without having to "context...

Please advise me a good cooling but reasonable quiet (game) PC case

Just food for thought from my experience (Fractal R3 vs Corsair 300R). It all depends on the noise your components make. Get a beefy CPU cooler with low RPM fans and you get little noise. Replace SLI cards with one more powerful card with high end aftermarket cooling and you get little noise...
