Backup entire system image for dummies?

Thanks for the feedback. I was figuring since the issues were similar that people might chime in. However, I was able to get several opinions elsewhere.

Backup entire system image for dummies?

I recently purchased a 2TB Seagate drive with intent to backup my two PCS. Both are running Win7 and the backup failed on both cases. The one is a 32bit image and I understand that for hard drives 2TB and larger that the Windows utility will fail. However, my primary is a 64bit Win7 image...

    Batman Arkham Origins thread

Again, I haven't played the game. But the way I read the review, it was only "More of the same" from a mechanics point of view. And it was "Larger" not because it needed to be, but because they wanted to be able to say it was larger. Imagine making a football field 10x the size...

    Batman Arkham Origins thread

I haven't played yet so this is speculation on my part. The Gamespot review says that although the mechanics are pretty much the same, they aren't as well executed. I.e. much larger areas but with little reason or need for that. Fight mechanics are as fluid but you end up doing it a lot more...

Would Skyrim make sense if I never played any previous Elder Scrolls games?

I usually try to play some form of Mage in most Role Play games. In Oblivion, I would spend hours and hours leveling up my casting abilities. then I would go out in the wilderness and get owned by some tiger or other normal animal that was an equivalent level, but really was meant for a tough...

Would Skyrim make sense if I never played any previous Elder Scrolls games?

As others have indicated, you don't "Need" to play anything to understand Skyrim. It is quite a stand alone game. From My experience (and I have played them all), a lot of people will suggest that Morrowwind is the place to start. No doubt it is an excellent game, but the graphics are quite...

    **OFFICIAL** Diablo 3 Thread

Wow, sounds like a lot of if's and's and quid-pro-quos that are ultimately summed (read LOCKED) up by this statement. maybe I am just jaded by all of the hoops that this game puts on you just to have what little bit of fun there is, but is it really going to be more fun with yet more locks...

    Path of Exile Release

I am making no statement what so ever except that I have seen companies use micro-transactions (in gaming and in other products) in ways that I do not find to my liking. I am making a decision for me and me alone. Maybe because I work in marketing, I know how some companies view consumers...

Anyone else thought Dark Souls was garbage?

I think the mistake people are making is that they think I don't like Dark Souls. I in fact do like the game. However, I understand the OP in that they were looking for an RPG (presumably in the vein of BG or NWN or Dragon Age: Origins) and didn't get it. I was merely saying, I get that...

    Path of Exile Release

I get that this game may never pursue the level of marketing ugliness that other games have with Micro-transactions. There may NEVER be one single thing that materially changes the game for pay. I get that and laud the ideals of the game creators. Sounds great. However, the more the...

    Path of Exile Release

This is going to kill it for me. I had initially been thinking that this might be a viable alternative to the significant disappointment that I felt over Diablo 3. The fact that there is built into the structure of the game, Micro-transactions (no matter how appropriately priced or useful)...

Anyone else thought Dark Souls was garbage?

My point in a nutshell. Absolutely there is nothing wrong with enjoying Dark Souls for whatever reason. I too enjoy the game. But if i were looking for a Bioware style of RPG, Dark Souls is bound to disappoint me in that arena.

Anyone else thought Dark Souls was garbage?

So a little bit more than I ever knew about, and so I give it props. But if you compare that story to Baldur's gate or Planescape: Torment or Dragon Age: Origins or even Skyrim and Fallout, not quite so much. All I am saying here is that, if someone was looking for an RPG, and saw Dark souls...

Anyone else thought Dark Souls was garbage?

I take objection to this. I enjoy traditional RPG games, but when playing these, Yes. I expect a story. I don't need to be spoon fed the story as some do, and i don't think that a story alone makes it an RPG but without it, it becomes a POOR RPG. Where I find a problem is when people...

Anyone else thought Dark Souls was garbage?

I get the OP's comments. It is sold as an RPG because it has RPG elements such as choosing a class and managing stats as you 'level up'. But it isn't the traditional RPG like BG or even the Elder Scrolls games. It is mainly a hack and slash. Where I think people have the most fun is that the...

Yeah, kind of a shame though. Hamill and Conroy did it the best. And it isn't like either of them are 'over the hill'. But I get that there comes a time to move on. Still on the fence on this one. I personally loved Asylum and have played it several times. I am currently enjoying my...

    Galactic Civilizations III announced!

Awesome news!! Can't wait. I can't tell how many hours I have lost to GalCiv 1 & 2. Just please tell me it is still going to be turn based 4X and not some bastardization into real time.

I think I just came up with a pretty good idea for a Star Wars based game

Sounds like a decent game. It also sounds like you have a bit of a writer in you. You should flesh out the idea with details, chapter breaks, villains etc... and some of the other interesting interactions that you envision. If nothing else, that might be a fun exercise and something that...

I think I just came up with a pretty good idea for a Star Wars based game

I think the concept has merit. Several points I would suggest. 1. Although it would not 'Tie in' to the movies, you are still in the Star Wars Universe. Therefore you have to account for the possibilities of jedi, the rebels and the Empire. Players will want to play as Jedi. Do you want...

For my money, it doesn't get better than Kevin Conroy for the voice of The Batman (nor better than Mark Hamill as the Joker). I have not heard anyone who can easily make me buy the complete change between Bruce Wayne and The Batman.

Say good bye to Diablo III auction house

That would have been fine if it was that type of game. D1-D2 were not WoW clones. They were not intended to be that type of game. the makers of D3 wanted it to be more like WoW only they either took it too far or not far enough depending on your view point. For me, it went WAY over the line...

It's a theme that started back with Frank Miller (or possibly even further), so it has been around since the 80s at least. His art work drew him as a very physically muscular (if quite aged) form. The point, as I understand it, was that he was supposed to be physically imposing. And I...

Been playing Arkham Asylum lately just to pass the time. Such an awesome game, and so much fun trying to find all of the secrets and hidden stuff. it isn't a hard game by any stretch, but fun none the less. With that having been said, I really think I am going to take a pass on Arkham...

That's actually a very good idea. And with Disney and the resurgence of Star Wars 7, I could absolutely see a market for that. I remember the original. I got my first joy-stick for the computer because of X-Wing. My personal favorite was the A-Wing missions. You could soup that baby up...

Are we ever gonna get another space sim?

I'd love another 4X Space sim in the vein of MoO 2 or GalCiv2. Something with depth and strategy. Turn based is absolutely right up my alley so that I can plan and strategize every single move. I think that everyone today (developers) thinks that turn based is dead. Shame really.

Dumb things that PC games should not do by 2013

Invisible walls. Herding players away from areas that are too tough for them in ways other than handing them their own @$$. If I am dumb enough to charge into the Dragon's lair when I am level 1, I should be allowed to take a sudden and very flamy dirt nap and then restart again from last save...

While I agree in concept, consider the alternative. Would you prefer if the DEVS simply sat on completed DLC for 6-12 months so that they don't get perceived as releasing DLC prior to/at the same time as the original release? It's a slippery target. There is often times 'Down' time during...
