    Annoying graphic elements on desktop

Hi, I know this post is older but the problem returned, so I tried infoitrators advice and tried the iGPU. I did not experience any problems so I RMAed my graphics card and got a new one. But today after working with it for a couple of days I had the error again :( VirtualLarry, what did you...

    Annoying graphic elements on desktop

I just found out that there is a newer driver (13.5) but it shows the same behavior. Is there some kind of VRAM test like for regular RAM? I prefer to tell the vendor what the problem is instead of giving him room to say "he couldn't see anything".

    Android 4.0 data security

Thank you but this would only work if the thief has the phone connected. He could simply keep it in his basement until he copied all my data...

    VPN connection disconnects randomly

Thank you for your replies. It is indeed possible that the connection dropped because of the bad WiFi although I have not tried it in a hotel yet but at a friend's place. The problem is, I would really like a retry-infinite option like Acanthus described it with stock Android. Unfortunately, I...

    VPN connection disconnects randomly

Hi, I just set up a VPN connection with my Galaxy Nexus to my Router at home. It works but I realized that the connection drops at some point. This is quite annoying because I want to use it as a security measure when staying at hotels and using their open WiFi. But when the VPN drops at...

    Android 4.0 data security

Hi, I would like to make sure that when my Android 4.0 phone gets lost/stolen the finder/thief cannot access my data on it; e.g. eMails, passwords etc. Is a lock screen password sufficient for this? Or would he be able to connect via USB? What advantages will encryption bring in this...

    Clone drive into encrypted partition

Hi, I would like to buy a SSD with 256 GB and create a ~200GB partition. The rest I would like to leave unpartitioned since I read this increases SSD's lifetime when using encryption which is what I want to do. TrueCrypt's documentation says I should encrypt before I put data on the...

    InEar phones with mic

Hi, I just bought a Motorola Atrix and as it happens my old InEar phones (Creative EP 630) just broke. I like those ones but they break too quickly... it was already my second pair. Now I wondered two things: Can I purchase any phones with mic and plug it into the 3.5mm slot and the phone...

HP with Intel i5-460M or AMD Phenom II Quad N950

@RobsTV: I changed my mind and bought the very same one now. Bu 3DMark2006 only got to 7549! Have you overclocked anything?

HP with Intel i5-460M or AMD Phenom II Quad N950

My preference for the HP is just a personal question. The only things that the Acer really misses are Bluetooth, eSATA and the Fingerprintreader I think. One further thing I also considered is the native resolution: The Acer has got 1600*900 which is a little bit more than HP with 1366*768. If...

HP with Intel i5-460M or AMD Phenom II Quad N950

Did I get this right: You compared 2260MHz(430M) to 2530MHz(460M), got a factor of 1.1 and multiplied the benchmark with it, so that you gain 8344 for 460M. Likewise with 1600MHz (P920) and 2100MHz(N950) leading to 1.3 and a benchmark of 8140 for the N950. Correct? Or is that method absoultlely...

HP with Intel i5-460M or AMD Phenom II Quad N950

    I have to decide between a 460M+5650 combo and a N950+5650 combo. http://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-dv6-3160us-15-6-Inch-Laptop/dp/B00400ORZU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1287447886&sr=8-1...

HP with Intel i5-460M or AMD Phenom II Quad N950

So the overall recommendation for gaming would be the 460M? I don't want to be unable to play games which I was able to play on my old laptop... And is it correct that the newer the games get the bigger the advantage of the N950 against the 460M will be? And: How many tasks would be necessary...

HP with Intel i5-460M or AMD Phenom II Quad N950

Did I get this right: In a non quad core optimized game the brand new N950 would be slower than my three years old Core2Duo T7800 @2.2GHz?
