I'm near 300 turns in a Civilization V so there is allot of onchip gpu usage, I've noticed a significant slowdown in the game and today a freeze up even after turning the game video to medium setting from high and since I only have the i7 gpu Intel HD 4000 gpu currently could Civ V need a...
I realize the new Intel Intel BOXDZ77GA70K is very new but it certainly deserves a slot near or at the top of the high-end boards if for no other reason then it meets Intel's very high build criteria and adds to the mix.
I found a fairly good review but would still like to see it in a roundup...
just thinkin....
I keep reading allot of reviews on the 2011 in the Euro tech sites not here...do they know something we don't on the future of that chipset with Intel plus..already a powerful chipset are they getting ready for the Extreme edition next?
I've got a fairly new laptop with 2nd gen SB cpu and ssd but I needed to call MS and get help (which they gave surprisingly) converting an upgrade version of win7pro to a full version,I originally had a reg version Vista hense the upgrade w7p anyway I got the right person and he walked me thru...
X79 is certainly the true replacement for the muscle X58 the previous enthusiast builders choice, the LGA 2011 is Intel's future with massive cache and scalability and I read the Ivy LGA 2011 will have 8 cores and 10 core Xeon LGA 2011's eventually with very possible support for Haswell etc...
Recently I was at a workshop held by Intel and I noticed that virtually all the laptops in engineering were Sager Laptops, one of the engineers from Micron was also carrying a Sager and he said Micron uses Sager exclusively..after some light digging it seems Sager is a very highly regarded piece...
X-Bit labs who isn't known to give out gushing reviews has given Intel an excellent one for it's new 1155 DP67BG. It's certainly a board to consider near the top of the list.
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/mainboards/display/intel-dp67bg.html
After the p67 controversy and all the SB hype with the stoppage of the 1155..the X58/i950 still the big dog in the fight and remain that way till x68/2011 fully matures which the x58 certainly has..correct?
....if money is no object that is. :)
I found this chart way back.
Whats up with SSD recognition problems with new SB 1155 boards(or several pop choices anyway) has the bios finally been corrected?
To be fair, I havent seen complaints from Intel SSD's or Critcal but that's not to say they are exempt.. just makes me wonder?
btw, I'm still shopping for a 1155...
This is likely a very stupid question but I need to ask anyway :)
Using a SB onboard GPU can a user add second GPU card and essentially have a dual card system?
The system is freezing up in XP with two SATA drives.
I am thinking this MAY be a hardware issue. Here is what it does. I can have only a
couple of Windows apps open and everything is fine. Then I hear a
"click" noise like a solenoid or something (the system is close-by
on a desk so...
I'm seeing this USB HDD listed in device manager and it's listed as working but I can't located it using explorer or in my case powerdesk. I can change to another harddrive with no issues....I did have problems booting this hardrive before I switched it out so maybe it's really totally dead? Any...
When I purchased this ati9500pro directx9 card several years ago it was
considered the best and eventually reached benchmark status which other cards were always compared to and is still considered a very solid card which it allows me to play any of the current genre of games such as BF2 and...
I need a 150g backup solution..HDDs are about the lowest $ I've seen per-gig so that seems to be the route, thought about raid but I'd feel better with separate storage.
What's the consensus of external FW or USB2.0 or removable HDD or... internal HDD and just unplug it :=)
Greets all
I have a new 40 gb ipod connected to an xp machine through a usb2.0 - I plug the ipod in and the new hardware wizard comes up - found new device apple ipod etc - then get message that hardware cannot be installed - no driver can be found - the software that came with ipod is...

I saved a few dollars and ordered a refurb viewsonic vp201 from newegg, what checks do I need to do on this LCD to make sure it's up to standards (my first LCD)
I've just installed an older WD IDE HD that has 98se OS on it as Slave drive into a NEW system that has XPpro with WD sata set as master, Abit IC-7 mobo with Phoenix Award bios.
I've tried the following advice which I gleaned off another forum and it let me boot into XP pro with the SATA drive...
Greetings all
A very good friend of mine who is visually impaired needed a computer setup for the blind so I volunteered to help with this project even though I have somewhat limited skills I have built
my own system but got very lucky and everything worked perfectly the first time at the first...

I'm always surprised at how little is really known about the heart of the computer system, the PSU. I see experinced users purchase junk quality PSU's simply for the wattage without regard to the quality of the unit and then complain about all the OCing problems they have..whereas,members in my...
Question,I don't recall actually burning in a new CPU over the years..how important is this for *conditioning* a cpu for OCing or is even needed and if it is..what programs should be run.
Ok,I'm shopping for a 2.8c sl6wj or sl6z5 s-code but I'm curious if there are any retailers who will sell me
specific codes? Does anyone have some tips on getting what I want or a retailer I can work with or do I just have to take my chances and use a retailer with liberal return policy?
I just read a review on upper-end PSU's and the Vantec 420a was rated higher then the more common better known Antec Truepower's. What little I know about both by reading the spec's,one main difference was the Time Before Failure period..the Vantec is 140,000 hours the Antec Truepower was 80,000...
