Kabini 5350 a good option for basic usage?

I am using a 5350 running Linux Mint as a HTPC using the built-in integrated graphics. It's been great. Sips power, and after you install the AMD Linux drivers, no issues watching HD programming on YouTube or Netflix. Page load times are a little longer compared to my 5820k in Chrome, but hey...

Which should be my next card for 1080p gaming at min 60 fps?

Ok last one ;) I don't know if you know anything about ARK: Survival, but it's a cool dinosaur-themed game that is not done yet, and it kills all video cards as it's currently un-optimized and uses lots of cool features\textures ;). Knowing that, I still went 1080p and turned EVERYTHING up...

Which should be my next card for 1080p gaming at min 60 fps?

This is actually really fun lol. Ok I just did Alien Isolation, here are my #'s: I'm just going to copy them straight from the FRAPS CSV file, it's faster, then upload a screenshot of where I was at the time of the benchmark: Frames Time (ms) Min Max Avg 3308 16765 181 204 197.316

Just to see, I downloaded FRAPS and ran it on Skyrim Ultra at 1080p. I am using an EVGA SSC 970 GTX. Here are my results from the CSV file: MAX FPS: 143 MIN FPS: 87 AVG FPS: 118.566 Can you benchmark Heaven at 1080p extreme and compare it with mine?

    I NEED HELP! GTX 980 vs R9 390X

You really can't go wrong with any 290x/390/390x or 970/980. Here is a recent review, only a couple months old between a 290x and a 970. As you can see, with current drivers, at 1440p, they're very close: http://www.hardwareheaven.com/2015/06/evga-geforce-gtx-970-review-ssc-edition/ I...

[David Kanter on Tech Report] - Nvidia VR preemption "possibly catastrophic".

Well said. Any of these cards: 290x/390/390x/970/980/980ti will hold you for a while. $300-$350 seems to be the sweet spot. And some brick and mortar stores will price match online stores, so you don't have to wait, or worry about something happening in the mail, and if something goes wrong...

    Gigabyte Gtx 970 G1 or AMD R9 390?

I went through a similar decision. I first picked up the last new 290x at Fry's by my house thanks to their price-matching policy with NewEgg. It was an XFX Double Dissipation edition. It was working fine until about 2 weeks ago, coincidentally when new drivers came out, along with a Windows...

AtenRa's results right here would be enough to sway me away from Bulldozer: Compare the minimums and average results between the 2 chips for these 2 games: Then take into account the 2500k is clocked 600Mhz LOWER than Bulldozer in those graphs. The results would be even worse if the clock...

    BF3 CPU bottleneck? Really?

I feel like I'm just repeating what everyone else has already said, but add my 2 cents to this: 1. 4.3Ghz is low for a Sandy Bridge chip. You need to bump that up to 4.5Ghz+ if you are on anything other than the stock Intel cooler! 2. When you look at CPU utilization in Windows, you will...

    amd fx-4100 battlefield 3

Yeah but SP BF3 is like running Notepad to bench a CPU. AMD and Intel both run it just fine. MP BF3 large maps are much more intensive, so while you can't possibly nail down all the variables, it's a much better test of CPU\GPU strengths (or weaknesses)...

    Trinity review

Can someone with an 8120\8150 downclock their CPU to 2.3Ghz and bench it, running the same suite as Anand, then clock it to 3.2Ghz and bench it again? It would be interesting to compare the results to Trinity as an early BD vs Piledriver comparison...not apples to apples I know, but...

Switch to fx 8150 or keep 1090t?

Okay seriously though....it would help a bit if you could get a good OC out of the 8150, however, if you want to see more FPS improvement, you're going to want to go with Sandy or Ivy to really drive multiple video cards properly...

    Return of FX : GA-990FXA-UD7 - OC'd AMD FX 8150 / 6990 Performance Comparison Review

How is an 8 core CPU running even with a 4 core CPU a good thing? And if CPU A (Bulldozer) gets destroyed by CPU B (2500k) in single threaded, and breaks even in multi-threaded....and CPU A uses more power and can't push SLI\Crossfire setups as hard.....why would you ever...ever... buy CPU A?

AMD Gains X86 Processor Market Share on Intel in Q1

  28. Black96ws6

Is AMD FX Bulldozer really that bad for Gaming?

That's fine for mid-level GPUs and non-cpu-intensive games. But for high-end GPU setups such as SLI\Crossfire\etc, and\or games that stress the CPU more (think large multiplayer maps in BF3 or Civ5), you really want an Intel CPU, at least the way things are currently in 2012 :)

    New FX-8120 Benchmarks @4Ghz w\Radeon 6950\6970

Yeah it's sad, I mean, I know WHY AMD released this thing, because they couldn't afford not to, but to hold those OC'ing displays with no actual benches and also marketing this as an FX chip when it CLEARLY does not deserve that name...come on, we're not stupid. More FX-8150 results are leaking out, I don't know the legitimacy of these, however multi-threaded looks better, single threaded is still terrible (look at the Cinebench 10 single threaded score - lower than an 1100T).
