I have to say the TJ11 case from Silverstone is amazing... by far the best case I have ever seen and used and worth every penny in my opinion. I am thankful someone builds quality like this for those that can afford it!
The problem is that I need to fill the second 8 pin 12 V molex connector. I hope this will work since I can pick it up after work today at Fry's:

The 1100 W (15db, nice!) Nexus Power Supply only has one 8 pin connector for the ATX...
Basically, the motherboard wants two identical 12V 8pin ATX connectors, but the Nexus provides only one... and another 8 pin conector made from two 4-pin connectors: 4+ and 4P except the 4+ isn;t configured correctly to fit in the other half of the remaining 8 pin 12V ATX connection.
Hi all,
I'm totally confused. The assassin G1 has the 24 pin ATX power connection and also (2) 8 pin power connectors. However, the Nexus Gold 1100W power supply has only one 8 pin power connector and (2) 4 pin power connectors stuck together that say 4+ and 4P (that make a second 8 pin...
I got the TJ11 case and it is a work of art... problem is I have the nexus 1100 Watt Gold power supply and the Gigabyte Assassin wants (2) 12V (8-pin) connectors aand the power supply only has one 8 pin and a 4 pin... ?? WTF??
1) Just wondering how the performance is affected by using (4) 128 GB SSD in raid 0, vs (2) 128 GB SSD
2) Can you use 2 different raid 0 on the same computer? I was thinking of buying a second WD 2TB drive and making it raid 0 as well. But not sure if you can have a pair of SSD in raid 0...
That bullet you see in the magazine is just a half of a bullet and it is a piece of plastic... I only care about the fact that it has the new 1Gb/sec Marvell Sata 3 chip and perfect raid 0, and the integrated high quality sound, and other nice feathers... but damn is it hard to find XL-ATX...
I dropped the (6) 2GB memory sticks in the assassin... dropped in the 990x CPU, mounted the Zalman cooler, and have everything else sitting here. Just waiting on the overnight TJ11 Silverstone case from New Egg... expensive mfing case! Amazon has the TJ11 for almost 200.00 less with free prime...
Sometimes the step ups are really inexpensive... but hey, if the 28nm chips are THAT much better, then I'd probably be getting those anyway. Why are the 29nm chips supposed to be a huge gain?
I wonder how much noiser they will be... I just got 2 580's yesterday... I'll probably step up to 590's if they are released within 90 days (end of May). What do you think about 590 vs 580? Also, if they will be released by end of May?
Question,
First of all, I picked up the new ASSASSIN G1 motherboard. I'd install it today but I picked the wrong case and just overnighted a Silverstone PJ11 from New Egg so I can assemble this Tuesday.
1) The Gigabye Assassin G1 has the new 88SE9182 chip on it, which is a new SATA 3 chip...
Cool ass motherboard by the way... its such a tease I can't assemeble everything today! Dual EVGA 580 GTX for SLI, Dual Plextor 128 GB SSD (raid 0), 12 GB skills turbulence, etc... And the assassin has the NEW Marvel chip!! no Rad 0 probs!!
Unfortunately not
The Assassin motherboard is way too long in the top to bottom dimension. Not only that it, the ports and slots simply wouldn't line up anyway. XL-ATX is really, realyl different.
Looks like I have to get the Silverstone PJ11 and return the PJ10
Damn, major setback... I've got everythign here: Dual Plextor 128 GB SSD, 990X Cpu, 12 GB Turblulence Ram, and the damn Assassin is way too long in the top to bottom dimension. fron to back is more than fine, but it is about 1.5 inches too 'tall'. It wouldn't fit properly anyway since the...
There are many virtues to that board that have nothing to do with using 'only' 2 graphics cards.
My ony question is will I be able to assemble the box when I get home tonight or am I screwed.
Not all XL ATX boards are the same size:
This is the EVGA 4 way:
Length: 13.58" Width: 10.375"
Assassin G1 is 12" x 10.35" thats why I am not certain... EDIT: NM, New EGG must have listed the size wrong, see below.
The problem is that the Silverston TJ10 is not listed as supporting XL, but sometimes full tower ATX cases can still fit an XL motherboard, especially if you are only doing dual SLI (not 3 or 4 video cards).
Problem is that I cannot see the motherboard tray mounting limitation on the PJ10...
Edit: The Assassin G1 confirmed on Gigabytes site: 345 mm x 262 mm
So that is too big for the motherboard tray of the PJ10 ?
305 mm x 330 mm is the Extended ATX spec. So it seems SMALLER in one aspect, and large in the other... It can hang over the MB tray a little...
The Assassin G1 XL-ATX Motherboard arrives today from New Egg.
One problem, I just spent a ton of time and money modifying a TJ10 Silverstone Case... I am only going to use (2) EVGA graphics cards for Dual SLI... but can this board mount and fit ok in a Silverstone TJ10? It is a big ass case...
