    Crysis and FPS

Well, I just ran the benchmark with 4x AA and I got an average framerate of 32fps. Am I looking in the right spot? I'm just going by the average fps figure displayed in the top left of the benchmark. My drivers are up to date, I've selected SLI in nvidia config....something doesn't seem...

    Crysis and FPS

haha, go easy, I don't know what I'm doing!! Alright, I'll lower it to 4x and re-run.... Would an overclock on the CPU give me any noticeable benefit?

    Crysis and FPS

I'm sure there are countless threads about FPS and Crysis, but everything I seem to find is not related to later video cards. I'm getting low fps with Crysis when I think I should be getting more somehow?.....I might be being unrealistic though...but anyway, here are my specs... i7 950 Asus...

*breathes a sigh of relief* Thanks, nice to know things are 'normal'. Seeing temps like 80c made me think my cards were about to melt

    Another one...build critique please :)

What do you mean by better? Watercooled? I thought the Frio was quite a good cooler? I know the two 570s is probably overkill, but I don't intend on replacing the system for years to come, and hopefully these cards can see me by for those years. I was going to get a SSD with this build, but...

Nono, I mean, what changes should I make to make the system run the best....ie-overclock etc?...

ahhh sandy bridge schmandy bridge If I waited for sandy bridge, I'd then be waiting for something else, then wait for that and something else gets announced, so you wait for that and then something else...you get the point.

Hi guys Ok, my system is all up and running, so I'd really like it if a few of you give some advice or opinions on what I should potentially change/modify etc if need be... Silverstone Raven RV02 Case Corsair HX850 PSU Asus Sabertooth X58 Intel i7 950 Thermaltake Frio CPU Cooler Corsair 6Gb...

    2x GTX 570s Asus Sabertooth X58

Elfear, my case is the silverstone Raven rv02, so it's a 90 deg rotated design. The cards point to the sky and 3x 180mm fans blow air from the bottom of the case through to the 120mm(?) extraction fan on top. Cables are neat and out of the way, so I think the airflow in there is pretty...

Errors playing Bad company 2 with my new GTX 570?

OP, did you by any chance have problems getting your 570 installed? Was the backing plate on a funny angle and didn't quite line up when screwing it down to the chassis?

    2x GTX 570s Asus Sabertooth X58

Yep it's SLI certified, it's just the top two x16 slots are close together meaning the cards have very little space between them and run pretty hot....just wondering whether this is the normal thing to do?

    2x GTX 570s Asus Sabertooth X58

Ok, so I now have two GTX 570s on an Asus Sabertooth X58. Do I install them in the closest pci-express x16 slots....or does one of the cards go on the outer slot so there is more airflow.... I notice that the outer slot is still x16 but has 'a x4 link' whereas the others are 16x link? What...

Upgrading to 2x GTX 570s...power supply...

Hi there. Recently bought a new system and am just wondering whether my power supply will handle two gtx 570s. I run a Corsair HX850. The rest of my system is as follows; Asus Sabertooth X58 i7 950 Thermaltake Frio 6Gb DDR3 Dominator 1x Gtx 570 If I throw another one in, will the Corsair...

    Thermaltake Frio w/two fans...

No, I've got the X58 (1366) version of this board. I've got 3 sockets for the chassis fans, 1 for the NorthBridge fan, 1 for the PWR(?) fan, and 1 for the CPU fan. I've got 4 chassis fans, so all the chassis fan sockets are taken up plus the PWR fan. And I've got the CPU heatsink (1 of)...

    Thermaltake Frio w/two fans...

Just another quick question regarding my new build. I have the thermaltake frio on an i7 950 on an Asus Sabertooth. I'm using the two fans supplied (I bolted on the additional fan they supply in the box) so I have two 3 pin plugs. On the motherboard I only have 1 cpu_fan socket. What do I...

    eVga GTX 570 Install Issues...

Thanks for the input guys, I ended up loosening the back screws and screwing it home on the backplate. It went in and I've quickly powered up and all is ok, but man it didn't feel right having to do that to a AU$450 card! Every card I've had before has been utterly perfect, and I've been...

    eVga GTX 570 Install Issues...

Here they are... As you can see the holes are not THAT far off, but it seems I'm applying a bit of force when I move it all to get them to line up.... And the gap at the connectors? Do you think by screwing it down to the backplate, it'll close properly?

    eVga GTX 570 Install Issues...

nitromullet, yes there are slits in the case that the metal tabs go through. It seems to seat pretty good, I do have to press the release tab to get it out. When looking at the card, you know the slit between the two connectors? I can still see the a bit of a space and the top of this slit...

    eVga GTX 570 Install Issues...

Yeah it is pretty bad I reckon, but what do you expect these days, it's the same with everything else too, the more I think about it, the more I get pissed off. Anyway, I took the cover of the card and have backed off two of the screws that hold the plate onto the card....will now try to...

    eVga GTX 570 Install Issues...

This should have been the simplest part but I'm having trouble getting the GTX 570 into my Asus Sabertooth Motherboard. Thermaltake Frio and Raven RV-02

I haven't got my motherboard or CPU yet, but when I hold the cooler in the case it seems that I won't be able to get the side cover back on.... This is my first build in 6+ years and these coolers are huge compared to the oldies, is it normal for them to be so close to the side covers? Adul...

    Onboard vs Dedicated Audio

Aussie pricing :) Well, I think I'll go the route of trying the onboard audio and if it's crap, getting a sound card later on. So that's that problem sorted, now the problem of 1156 vs 1155 vs 1366. WILL I EVER BUILD A NEW RIG?

    Onboard vs Dedicated Audio

For my new build, I've been thinking of buying an Asus Xonar DX audio card, as I've always bought dedicated audio cards for my PCs. However, I'm beginning to wonder whether it's better off saving the $98 and putting this towards bettering another component as motherboards like the Asus Rampage...

7 years and time to upgrade!

Yeah, I'm more inclined to go all out also, I'd prefer to have something last a number of years. "Computing Bliss" is what I'm after! And I think I'll take the advice of waiting for this 6xxx series. A SSD is very tempting too, but looking at the costs, I'd prefer to buy when they drop in price...

7 years and time to upgrade!

Awesome guys, thanks for the suggestions. I'm a little more clued up on the i5 range and the 860/870's, pros and cons etc. From what I understand, an 1156 board with an 870 CPU would suit me fine for gaming and video editing with the following restrictions; 1. Max ram on 1156 limited due...

7 years and time to upgrade!

Ok, so how much do things change if I said I would like to do video editing with the same rig? I forgot to mention this . It'd be all HD video. Would the i7 be the more sensible option then? I'm a little confused that you can run 1156 m/board and i5 and still have, I'm assuming, a top rig...
