Who has the best plan these days? (US carrier, Text, >3GB data)

Metro pcs would be a good option too, they use tmobile's network. 40 for 3 gb or 50 for 5 gb. Now includes their version of music freedom, streaming music doesn't count against your cap.

Best way to have cell/data access when overseas?

Best option is probably just to buy a SIM with a carrier over there. Regular tmobile post paid service includes international roaming at no extra charge for data and texts, $.20/minute for calls.

Metro PCS - good network to switch to?

Metro works well, I used them for a while before switching to tmobile. If you have good tmobile coverage in your area then metro will be the same.

Wow, Lollipop 5.1/5.0 has been the worst experience by FAR.

Marshmallow was released this week, T-Mobile has confirmed it will come to the s5. https://support.t-mobile.com/community/phones-tablets-devices/software-updates#tmoSUPDocTitle

Verizon to increase out of contract unlimited data by $20/month

For a few folks it might be, but I bet a lot of folks on unlimited plans don't use enough data to justify the added cost.

Any nexus 6 users here? Got marshmallow yet?

nope, there is only one version of 6.0 that works on any carrier. Follow what Dave posted if you want to flash the factory image, that is the correct method. I'm assuming that you have not unlocked your bootloader previously, so you WILL erase all of your data if you flash. If you want to keep...

Any nexus 6 users here? Got marshmallow yet?

The ota for the nexus 6 must not have started rolling out yet, usually someone captures the link pretty quickly after its released. The only way right now to upgrade to marshmallow is to flash the factory image. https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images?hl=en

Any nexus 6 users here? Got marshmallow yet?

When you flashed the factory image did you include the userdata image or do a factory reset, or did you keep your existing data? I did not wipe user data, just cache. Battery life seems slightly worse on 6.0, but tough to judge after only one day. Also running without root for the time being...

Yeah I did the same thing lol, I saw the rate and just assumed at first that it had to be 6 month premium.

Your wish list for the LG Nexus Bullhead (N5 2015)?

I don't think that's possible honestly. Last year they made a phone that hit almost every high end spec and people bitched about it being too expensive. This year they hit a much lower price point and people complain about the hardware compromises needed to get there.

Your wish list for the LG Nexus Bullhead (N5 2015)?

According to android police the prices are going to be $379 for the 5x and $499 for the 6p at launch, which seems pretty reasonable.

So you THOUGHT your insurance Co would take care of you..

I ran a quote with them, they wanted $660 a month to insure a 3 year old Mazda 6 with a ~$10,000 book value. Honestly I'm surprised they even bothered giving me a rate.

Agreed, you can actually save quite a bit of money now buying a cheaper phone
  33. C

    RIP Contracts

Well many people are either unwilling or unable to pay $600-800 up front to buy a phone, so the subsidised model is attractive. And that is not really changing, even though contracts are going away it's just being replaced with 24 month zero interest financing. Still locked in to paying the...

Your wish list for the LG Nexus Bullhead (N5 2015)?

Honestly I thought the nexus 6 camera was good enough, if they could get it on par with that I think it should be fine
  35. C

    RIP Contracts

That's fine, but most people don't actually do that, they go but a new phone when their contract is up. My point was that switching from the 2 year contract model to 24 month financing is not going to change that behavior or significantly impact new phone sales.
  36. C

    RIP Contracts

You're probably overestimating the problem. Tmobile has been selling phones this way for a while, as had AT&T and vzw. The I only change for Verizon is this is now mandatory, they were pushing the edge plans aggressively already. This hadn't led to a major drop in phone sales. What's going to...

How would a 620 compare to the 800 on the old n5 or the 805 in the n6? I thought the 600 class chips were quite a bit less powerful than the 800 series?

Anyone use GLASS vs. film as screen protector?

Yeah I don't know how you would ever put glass protector on a phone like the s6 edge or the lg phones with their curved screens. Personally though I would leave it naked over going back to the plastic film.
