    Cisco ASA NAT question

I am not looking to cross the internet with an address that is not mine, nor am I looking to assign that address to my ASA. I simply want the requested internal address to be redirected to the external one.

    Cisco ASA NAT question

I'm not looking to use that address to cross the internet. My goal is simply to redirect folks trying to access 172.16.1.50 to a separate address.

Right, I simply want that internal address to be redirected to the external one.

    Cisco ASA NAT question

Let me preface with how little I actually know about Cisco PIX/ASA hardware and configuration, so I apologize if this is something simple or, on the other end of the spectrum, not possible. Say I wanted to translate an internal address that machines were trying to hit -- 172.16.1.50 as an...

    Cisco 7945 background issue

No kidding with the poke and hope bit... Really adds to it when this is a remote location too (not that Houston, TX is itself remote, but I am at Corp about 400 miles north of there), so moving files to and from the router is not exactly a super quick process. Fortunately, the firmware that...

    Cisco 7945 background issue

Found the fix -- just keep trying different firmwares until you get the black bar back! Not exactly elegant, but it did work. Firmware I ended up using is 8-3-2 and that did the trick.

    Cisco 7945 background issue

We are using CME 7.1 and the router itself is running IOS 15.0(1)M3. I stumbled across those forums posts myself and was hopeful, but no dice on either unfortunately. If anyone is curious about the remainder of the config, let me know and I'll post relevant details.

    Cisco 7945 background issue

I've got a Cisco phone system setup for one of our nicer regional offices in Houston, TX and we went with the 7945G phones for the executives (read, everyone) in that office. The trouble I am having with the phones is purely cosmetic and far from dire, but it is curious. We set the background...

    Cisco DHCP issue

My workplace is like yours in that someone simply installing a rogue piece of equipment without permission is not enough to get them fired, mostly just a stern "don't do that again." On the other hand, if we had anyone just log into a router and kill DHCP, HR would have some paperwork to take...

    Cisco DHCP issue

We do use BPDU guard and shutdown any ports that aren't being used, but unfortunately we have a pretty loose reign on our regional IT folks. In this case, the fellow who installed it knew just enough to "get it working," though he's since lost that privilege. All the switches and routers now...

    Cisco DHCP issue

As an update to this issue, turns out our regional IT guy (I work as a network admin at the corporate office, so I wasn't actually in the office when this all went down) thought it'd be a good idea to go to BestBuy and get a Netgear wireless router for that office. I am not sure how he set it...

    Cisco DHCP issue

The phone DHCP database was not the issue -- they were all working fine. It was the VLAN1 (PCs) database that was problematic. I agree with you about the UCs, by the way. I hate them to death because of how they handle VLANs vs physical interfaces and a lot of the CLI stuff is bass ackwards...

    Cisco DHCP issue

Those kind of numbers are not completely normal, but they are not horrifically far off. I did run a traceroute before it was fixed (more on that below) and it didn't show anything fishy.

It's a UC560 and it itself is handling DHCP. Configs to follow. sh ip dhcp bind: UC_560_Bridgeport#sh ip dhcp bind Bindings from all pools not associated with VRF: IP address Client-ID/ Lease expiration Type Hardware address/...

    gigabit issue

Have you tried snipping off the ends and crimping down new ones? I'm pretty sure Gigabit Ethernet uses all four pairs of wires, so an incorrect end could land you with 100Mb speeds.

    Cisco DHCP issue

Interesting (i.e. strange) issue here... I have a UC560 serving as both a router for phones and data at an office. Two VLANs setup, 1 for data and 100 for phones. The DHCP scope of the two is Data: 10.10.29.0 /24 Phones: 10.200.29.0 /24 and things were working fine for awhile. However...

    Videos (*.avi) no longer play?

That was my thought, too. The only thing I can think of that would have corrupted the files is setting a master password on my iMac. I didn't turn on File Vault for any amount of time though, so I doubt it was that and that password has since been removed. I will continue to tinker with it and...

    Videos (*.avi) no longer play?

Good thinking with the new user account, but still no dice. I also tried on a separate computer at work (for a total of one Mac computer, two Windows computers, an Xbox w/ XBMC, and an Xbox 360), so it's definitely something to do with the file itself. Hmm...

    Videos (*.avi) no longer play?

I cannot get VLC to pull up the details on any of the videos that will not play, though if I open one that still does work -- which should be similar to those that don't, since they were all acquired from the same place -- the video is XVID and the audio is mpga. They are large files, so it'd...

    Videos (*.avi) no longer play?

Reinstalled Perian this morning, but to no avail. I am not sure what the codec is, to be honest; all I know is that it is all the videos are *.avi, which I realize is just a container. How could I go about finding the actual codec? Also, when I try to play the video in VLC, no sound or audio...

    Videos (*.avi) no longer play?

Over the past couple of years, I have amassed quite a collection of videos. I have always used VLC to watch them (or stream them to my XBMC), and they have always played fine. However, starting earlier this week -- or, at least, that is as soon as I noticed -- videos that are any older than a...

    can dogs withstand cold?

For what it's worth, I have a black lab who does just fine in weather much colder than that; in fact, she prefers cold. Whenever it is hot, she will not go outside and when it is cold, we can't get her to come in. ... also, this is FS/T.

    1920x1200 laptop

Maybe you have only desktop monitors in mind? 1920x1200 is a bit hard to see on a 15.4" notebook, but on a 17" it is perfect. Remember that with a notebook you generally sit much closer to the LCD than when you are using a desktop.

    Mac Mini CPU upgrade

I was considering that route, but installing a processor in a Mini is no small job. I would rather know in advance than buy and install an incompatible part and then have to the restocking fees.

    Mac Mini CPU upgrade

I have looked into it a bit and I think it'd be fine as long as I stick with the 667mhz FSB. I know that the thermal restrictions of the Core 2's are a little bit higher than with the Core 1's, but nothing unbearable. The T7600 was what I had in mind, but I was hoping for some confirmation...

    Mac Mini CPU upgrade

The Mini is already FAR out of warranty; I have torn it apart myself to do a RAM and HDD upgrade. It is a project computer, and I am interested in making it as fast as possible (as a computer can be w/ integrated gfx, of course). To the best of my knowledge, the CPU can be swapped for a C2D...

    Mac Mini CPU upgrade

I have a Mac Mini with the 1.67ghz Core Duo -- the first of the Intel Minis. I am looking to maybe drop a new processor in there and I would like it to be one of the higher clocked Core 2 Duos. However, I cannot find a solid answer anywhere on the web as to whether or not you can upgrade the...

Alright. I have a Mac Mini, and they have crappy small hdd's. SO. I also have an older computer with lots of hard drives. The older computer is a run of the mill 2ghz Celly running XP Pro. I have three hard drives in there: (1) 40gb and (2) 400gb. The 40gb is hooked straight to the...

just reformat my old pc with windows 98 and now i cant connect to the internet.

Old tech FTW. Making a once over the spec sheet, I did not see any NIC for the computer -- just a modem. I would assume you have added one of your own. If this is the case, the first thing to do would be to make sure you have the driver installed and go from there.

    Got a bad game..

Has it been thirty days? I think that's the "money back" refund period. After that, you have to sell it back to them, which will get you maybe twenty cents. Could be wrong, though. Just check the back of the receipt.

    imdb vs rotten tomatoes

I visit RT more, but usually just disregard movie reviews all together. My mind is already made up as to whether or not I am going to go to a certain movie, long before I ever read a review. Same with games. Reviews are just there so you can see what other people thought of a game or movie...

    First HTPC Build

 for a low end X2 (3600 or 3800). It would run cooler than the 805, and it is more powerful. A C2D would be ideal, but with a sub $500 budget, it is not really a viable option.
