Hm, new overclock:
It was stable after close to 6 hours of Prime95, so I guess this is good to go then.
The system won't post if the FSB is set to 310. It posts at 305, but I dropped it down to 300 just to be safe. I'm curious as to whether buying faster memory would actually result in being...
My CPU has the same amount of cache. When I tried overclocking with only my 1066 MHz stick of Corsair Dominator in the board, I was able to get the CPU to 3.3 GHz without much effort. I could buy more DDR2 and push this further rather than dropping $100 on a new CPU, but high speed DDR2 isn't...
Bingo
Initially I think I was only able to get it to 2.6 GHz. I bought some faster DDR2 memory and then I was able to push it a bit farther to 2.93 GHz. I think if I were to buy 4 sticks of 1066 MHz DDR2, then I might be able to raise the FSB a bit more.
I wish a CPU upgrade weren't so expensive. I paid so little for my current CPU. It was a binned Phenom II X2 sold as an Athlon X2 5000+ for $68 2 years ago. I didn't have to buy new memory at the time either. Trying to upgrade now would cost a small fortune (these are total guesses, but I'd say...
I just upgraded my aging HD 5750 with a HD 7850. I'm running the Bioshock Infinite benchmark with the GPU clocked at different speeds, and it seems like the minimum FPS I get doesn't improve fairly substantially with a 45% core overclock, though the maximum FPS and average improve pretty...
I've never been in this position before, so I apologize if this is a silly question.
I'm replacing my HD 5750 with an HD 7850 tomorrow. Since they're both ATI/AMD cards, do I need to reinstall drivers, or am I fine just swapping out the cards and booting up the system?
If you didn't enjoy Bioshock 1 enough to play Bioshock 2 (sure, it's not an Irrational game, but it improved the gameplay mechanic for sure), I'm not sure whether you should play this one at all.

I'm finally listing my old smartphone on eBay, so I decided to put the money towards a new video card. It's $180 before a $20 mail in rebate with free shipping.
I plan on selling the codes since I already bought Bioshock Infinite. I...
Just finished Deus Ex Human Revolution...it was pretty good. I now really want to play through Deus Ex, but it's pretty dated. Are there any good graphics mods I should know about (aside from New Vision), or any other mods to improve the experience?
I should clarify that it's not actually mine. It's my friend's, and it fell off of his bed while in his backpack. I'll have him check if his Dell warranty is still good.
I took it apart and tried unplugging and plugging the display cable back into the motherboard but it made no difference...
The screen on my Studio XPS 16 is damaged, though I'm not exactly sure what's wrong. I took a picture:

Is it cracked? Do I need to buy a new display?

It looks like it's going to be a decent game. But, everyone's endless speculation (flaming may be more accurate...) about the quality of the game isn't going to change a thing.
Thanks for the tip.
The U2311 is a bit out of my price range, and it's an IPS panel, so the response time seems like it might be too slow for my needs (gaming and academic work).
I'm trying to pick out a 1920x1080 LCD monitor. I looked at the Ars Technica system guide, and they recommended a 27" ASUS VE276Q.
I like the idea of having a large monitor, but the pixel pitch seems rather high (.311). An adviser of mine has an Apple Cinema display, and the sharpness of it...
I bought The Witcher 1 on GOG, but I still haven't played it. You really don't need to have played TW1 to understand the new one. There's very, very little from the first game that you really need to know. I won't say anything here. Just google TW1's storyline and you'll be ready to play TW2 in...
I've been playing for a few hours now...and I really do feel like this game has GOTY potential. At least RPG GOTY.
The graphics are amazing. Combat is really great. Storyline is gripping and well-presented. I really don't know what else someone could possibly want...
Do I just suck at combat, or is combat actually decently hard? I died like a bajillion times trying to take out the knights guarding the ballista towards the beginning of the game.
Crysis 2 looks gorgeous, I don't know what people are complaining about...I will admit that the environments are bland compared to Crysis and Crysis Warhead, but it still does a pretty good job.
I'm not sure if I think Metro 2033 looks better or not though...
