Finishing a build and not sure where to route the video card power cords. I may add a fan later in the spot to the right of the bottom mounted power supply. It would be blowing air right where I currently have the video card power cords going.
So is it good as is or should I route them above...
Just bought a GTX 970 as the first part of an upgrade. What's a good CPU compliment? I'm currently using a i3-4130 (3.4 ghz), but I'm giving it to my son along with my old system so we can play a new game together. I had my eye on the i5 -4590. It's base is slower than my i3 but it has turbo...
Wife needs a pc to telecommute from home. She logs into a virtual desktop and needs to use 2 monitors, but other than that, everything is handled by her work. What is the minimum she'd need? Celeron? C2Duo?
I'm not used to underbuilding a pc.
I turned off my pc last night and this morning it boots to a blue screen that goes by too fast to see the message (win 8.1) and then it tries to repair. After 7 hours of that I decided to check the bios, but the ssd isn't showing.
I used the win 8 cd to recover, but it said the disk was...
Greetings!
I need to build a pc and need some advice on the best tech to put in it for my intended use and budget.
My wife uses it a few times a week to work from home. She logs into a virtual desktop at work and needs 2 monitors. The larger has a resolution of 1920x1080. The other is...
I was reading reviews for this PSU and saw another very similar version on Newegg. Trying to figure out the difference. Right now it's a $24 difference and 50w as far as I can tell.
It will be for a C2D e8500 single gpu type PC so I figure either would be fine. I don't overclock, but I do like...
A week ago I started seeing 3 black verticle smudges/stripes about a cm. wide and 4" long on my display, about 3" apart. At first I thought it was fingerprint smudges, but after a good cleaning they were still there.
It's most noticeable when I'm in some sort of game but not so much when I...
My motherboard is a MSI KN8 Neo4-f. I've had it for over 3 years and the chipset fan went out and was replaced by MSI. The replacement didn't cool near as well as the original and today didn't work for one boot up.
Assuming it was a fluke I want to deal with the overheating I have durring the...
I have been > < this close to hitting the buy button on a x2 3800/4200 3 times this week but I keep thinking I should wait till after the 22nd because the am2 prices will push the 939 down. From your folks experience, what do you think will happen?
Buy now or then?
I have the option open to me to get an X2 4200 939 OEM or
for $30 more I can get the retail PIB version.
The OEM is from ewiz and the other from a local shop where I live.
Decisions decisions!!!!
I log in and go to "Profile" and try and correct my e-mail address, which is incorrect. When I click on "Update Profile" I get an error window that says:
Error: You do no have permission to access this forum.
Error Code: 578
Then it logs me out of the forums.
Any suggestions?
I am trying to stretch a little more life out of my PC and am going to upgrade the proc and video card.
Right now I have a socket 939 Athlon 64 3000+ Venice and started looking for something faster but it seems that socket 939 x2 4200-4600 Athlons are starting to dry up and/or go up in...
Ok, when I built my PC I was a little strapped for cash and at the time my budget allowed for a 120GB HD.
I want to get a second and use them in Raid, where they are the same disk and are faster. I think that is raid 0?
Anyway. Should I get another 120 GB that matches it or can I get a...
My MB has a connection to hook front audio connectors to it but is this connection to the onboard audio? I'd rather use my Audigy card but reaching around to the back everytime I use headphones would be a pain.
I recently built a new pc and the case has front audio jacks. My MB has a place to connect it but I am assuming that is for the onboard audio. I am using an Audigy card. So how do I connec the front jacks to my soundcard?
Ok, so I have a radeon 8500 128 video card and I have to keep using it for a bit. Currently the fan on the heatsink is frozen stuck. Should I pry it off and replace it with just a new heatsink?
Suggestions please
I just built my pc and installed everything including the Core Cell program from MSI that lets me monitor a few things. Problem is, I dont think it's reporting everything right. Sometimes it shows my cpu fan at 899 rpm and sometimes at 3000 rpm and it doest seem to coincide with hotter/cooler...
Well, I just installed everything and started updating drivers and the like. I installed nTune, MSI's Core Center and DigiCell software. Those 3 items all seem to monitor everything and I wonder if I need it at all.
The DigiCell seems to launch all the utilities I can use but doesnt do much...
A little background. I've been buying from New Egg for about 3 years now and never really looked at other companies. Well this computer build I wanted to keep them honest and checked other peoples prices.
In the last month I have ordered a few of my items from Newegg and a few from...
I bought a case and the 80mm and 120mm case fans happen to be sleeve bearing fans. Their coolermaster like the case, but how long will they last? All I know about sleeve bearing fans is that they are quiet but dont last as long. So will they fail in 2 years, 1 year?
Ok, it's been awhile since I've done this and I've learned tons reading the forums here and I appreciate everyones input. I am extremely happy with everything I've bought and regardless of the outcome I am happy with what I have here.
First question.
For now I am not overclocking anything...
Seems to be available now for about 185. Is this card going to be faster than a 6800gs since it already comes with all 16 pipes unlocked?
I play at 1280 x 1024
I decided to go with the MSI board, now about the memory
I also have a secondary question I hope can get answered.
I have used Patriot memory in the past and have had good success with them so I wanted to go with them again.
I went to MSI's web page for this board and it lists some companys...
Ok, I finally decided to build a new PC after getting the last one from Dell.
I am about to place the order for the MB, HDD, Video Card and memory and wanted a little input before I finalize it.
Motheroard-
I chose the MSI Neo4 socket 939 for the MB because I am fine with a single video...
A little back history. I am building a new pc and have pretty much everything nailed down except the video card. I play WoW and enjoy a little BF 1942 but really want to play BF 2.
My current video card is a Radeon 8500 128MB card. It gives me 30-60 fps in WoW at 1280 x 1024 with everything...
I'm looking for a 350-450 watt power supply and I can't find many that say whether they have PFC or not. I was all fine to get a Fortron power supply when I learned about this feature some power supplies have or don't have.
So some advise would be helpful.
Ok, I'm getting a retail amd 64 3000+. I feel confident the included fan will be fine but I wanted some suggestions for something that might be a little better. Maybe something a little quieter.
Remember I don't OC.
Thanks.
I've narrowed down my choices to a Dell 1905FP and a ViewSonic VX924.
The Hyundai L90+ was a close choice too, but it seems the are having some quality issues.
I play World of Warcraft and surf the net. I am upgrading the rest of my system in Feb 06 and will then play BF2 a little.
My...
I am vasilating between a good 17" monitor and the Hyundai L90+.
My problem is that at New Egg there has been a rash of slightly negative reviews about the monitor. S0 I wonder if it's a)The competition trying to slur the monitors name or b)1 angry person posting multiple times or c)Hyundai...
Ok, I am trying to figure out what exatly is behind all the x800 ATI cards out there. Right now I counted 9 different possible suffixes for the X800 chip:X800 X800SE X800Pro X800GT X800GTO X800GTO2 X800XL X800XT X800XT PE
Thanks to THG I can get info on all but 4 of these. Can anyone help me...
I can't upgrade my current PC anymore due to mb limitations so I am starting the planning for a new rig. I've decided on AMD. Due to cost contraints I am trying to get the slowest new technology and be able to upgrade one more time in 2-3 years.
From what I could gather, if I got a scoket...
