Tell us your purchase, HD 6900s.

I'll be getting an ASUS EAH6950 when they're available. Going to replace my EVGA GTX470 SC+. I know it isn't very much of a performance gain, but I currently have an issue with my GTX470 artifacting when starting Windows or at the Windows logon screen. It doesn't happen every boot. I only...

    CyberPower UPS

Got my APC SURTA1500XL today. This thing is a beast. Windows reported 47 minutes of battery life remaining while idle at the desktop with an 87% charge. There is a slight hum or buzzing type sound coming from the unit, but it's under my desk and I can barely make it out over my computer...

    CyberPower UPS

I know it's overkill, but I picked up a new APC SURTA1500XL for a really good price. $430.33 shipped, the next cheapest was $790 shipped. It's never been used, but has been tested to fully charge and guaranteed to not be DOA. I wasn't looking to spend much more than $300, but I couldn't pass up...

    CyberPower UPS

It's missing two out of eight screws on the battery cover. An online UPS would be nice to have though. I've had bad luck with hardware recently. The PSU on my desktop PC died the end of May. At the end of June both the video card and motherboard died on the same PC. Recently I had issues with...

    CyberPower UPS

Okay, thanks for the information. I'll likely pick up one of those units within the next couple of weeks. Just one final question, is it okay to use an AC Y-Splitter cable to add an extra outlet? I'm asking because I found a TrippLite SU1500XL, which is a dual conversion UPS, for $268...

    CyberPower UPS

I also found an APC SUA1500X413 open box for a little more, $254.70 shipped, that supposedly carries a "Full manufacturer warranty". I checked into it and it's actually only a 1 year warranty. They had the SUA1000US model as well. That was also open box, but it was $261.81 shipped. Is there...

GTX 570 release date decemeber 7 Rumour

Ick, if the product information on that Plait GTX 570 is correct then I'll have to remove the hard drive bay from my case, or buy a new case, to install it. I have a 5 year & 3 month old ThermalTake Tsunami case. I currently have three hard drives. Without the hard drive bay in I lose 5 slots...

COD: Black Ops Terrible PC Performance

The only issue I've been having with Black Ops multiplayer is that my game will freeze for about 10-15 seconds every once in a while. I almost always get killed when this happens. I did edit my config_mp and lower a few graphical settings in-game, but it still locks up. I'm not sure if this...

    Removed imported_ prefix from name?

Is it possible I could have this imported_ prefix removed from my name? It's been like that for a while, but I could never find a way to change it or anything. It's not too big of a deal, but sometimes it's hard to remember to have to add it when logging in.

    CyberPower UPS

OfficeDepot had the APC BX1500G for $99.99 which is what got me looking for a UPS in the first place. I noticed it didn't have EMI/RFI noise reduction, but it does have AVR. I'm not whether that would matter, but I have the older Z-5500 revision that makes a popping sound when lights on the same...

    CyberPower UPS

I only need a couple of minutes. Just enough time to shut the machine down. I'll probably be building a new system in the later part of 2011. I figure the most I'll have in it is two GTX580s or the equivalent Kepler part of that and a 4 or 6 core processor. It depends on the whether Intel has...

    CyberPower UPS

I'm thinking about getting a CyberPower UPS for my system. I need one that will work with an active PFC power supply. Right now I have a 700w OCZ StealthXStream PSU, but next year I will probably be building a new system. I was considering this CyberPower 1500VA/900W UPS...

abit IP35 Pro replacement (and weird problem)

I was able to just barely get it to squeeze in, it ran for almost 10 minutes before artifacting and freezing. I was in the process of downloading 3DMark05 so I wasn't even doing anything graphics intensive. Looks like I'll have to RMA the video card and buy a new motherboard. I tested my X-Fi in...

abit IP35 Pro replacement (and weird problem)

I put the 700w PSU in and booted up, artifacts all over the screen as soon as it comes on then it goes to a blank screen. Tried power cycling a few times and the screen stayed blank, can't even get anything other than a black screen now. Still left wondering if a new motherboard will fix this...

abit IP35 Pro replacement (and weird problem)

I'm looking for a replacement for my old abit IP35 Pro motherboard. This morning I was playing TF2 and my screen filled with artifacts and my computer froze. I restarted, played for about another 20 minutes, it did the same thing. I swapped the graphics card out thinking it was a graphics card...

Intel E8400 "Wolfdale" *IN STORE* TODAY!!!

I spent forever trying to decide between the Abit IP35 Pro and the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4. Both had really good reviews, the IP35 Pro got the Gold Editors Choice here at Anandtech. Both were about the same price on NewEgg with roughly the same features. One thing I really liked about the Gigabyte...

Thanks for this, I may be ordering soon for my new E8400 build. :) Edit: Oops didn't realize this was an old topic, they're still the only site where I can find a rebate offer on this board.

    Critique my new build

I'd just like to say thanks to everyone for their input so far. I've made some changes to my list of what I may want in my system: https://secure.newegg.com/NewV...le=My+new+E8400+system

1.8V you say? Most of the OCZ stuff was rated to run higher than that. Anyone have recommendations for a decent 4GB kit? I found this one but I haven't really looked around too much yet for a better deal: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820146692 Mushkin also has another kit...

Yeah, nevermind. I just found what I was looking for here: http://www.anandtech.com/casec...howdoc.aspx?i=3202&p=5 Going by that it looks like the retail cooler on the Core 2 Duo is really great as far as noise is concerned. For this reason alone I guess I won't really bother with an after...

    Critique my new build

You're sure about the stock cooler being very quiet? The main reason I wanted an aftermarket cooler was noise. After using an Athlon 3700+ stock cooler I don't ever want anything that will be that loud again. I'm leaning towards the Abit IP35 Pro since it's had great reviews here and on other...

    Critique my new build

Is there much of a difference between the Abit IP35 and the Asus P5K Deluxe other than that the latter cost $20 more? From what I've seen the benchmarks and overclocking capabilities on both are very good. I don't really need a lot of extra features as long as it works well with my E8400.

Another vote for Call of Duty 4, my only wish was that the SP campaign lasted longer. Portal was a great little game also.

New comp. to Play WoW Some questions though

My only recommendation is to be sure to get a decent CPU. Probably any of the Core 2 Duos will run WoW fine. My current Athlon 3700+ holds me back as I get below 30fps in raids and around shattrath even being overclocked @ 2.6 GHz.

    Upgrading my PC (help wanted)

Hey there. I'm also upgrading my PC which I'll be using for the same purpose (WoW & a few other games). E6750 or wait for E8400?

Thanks for the advice everyone, I've decided to hold off on buying the 8800GT and wait until early 2008 to upgrade my PC. I was able to overclock my 3700+ to 2.6GHz stable @ 1.5v. I was originally going for 2.7GHz but I had stability problems in Orthos without bumping the vCore up quite a bit...

    E6750 or wait for E8400?

A quad core CPU seems like a bit much at the moment for what I'd use it for. Sure quad core might be a bit more "future proof" than a dual core processor but is it worth it when building a new gaming rig today or would it be better to get a faster clocked dual core? If I were to pick up a Core...

    E6750 or wait for E8400?

Like the title says, would it be worth it to buy an E6750 now or wait a couple months for the E8400 to be released? I just purchased an eVGA 8800GT SSC (700 MHz) today, but my current system is a bit outdated for this. AMD Athlon 64 3700+ 2GB OCZ DDR 400 Platinum eVGA 7800GTX 256MB MSI K8N...
