Just got a 680 and installed it last night (boy this thing hauls!). As I'm sure many of you know, it has both a 6-pin as well as an 8-pin plug. The GPU came with a cable that takes in two 6-pin cables and produces the 8-pin male for the card.
My PSU's PCI-E cables are all 6+2-pin, with 2x6+2...
Regarding setting the voltage - I'm looking to optimize the "CPU Manual Voltage" setting below, correct? I thought I should be looking for an Offset setting, but I couldn't find it.

Wow! I was going to go LGA2011 with the hope that IB-E would be soon behind with a big speed increase... but now it seems... silly. I was thinking Haswell was more late-2013/early-2014.
I'm looking at drives for a RAID0 setup and came across these... can't figure out what the difference is though. Any idea?

I have a Q6600 machine that is hitting 8gb with ease now and I am looking at SB for a possible upgrade. The problem is that like 775, the 1155 boards seem to support only 4 slots of ram. With kits only coming in a max of 4x4, I have a "low" ceiling of 16gb.
Are there any boards that have 6 or...
I have a "server" running 2008R2.
If I were to upgrade to a mobo with two ports, what possibilities are there? For instance, could I get a second internet line and use one port for public connections and the other to connect the computer to my private network (connected to a separate internet...
As a programmer, how big do you like your laptop screen?
I realize that different companies offer different resolutions for various sizes. Assume average offerings for each choice. For instance a 15" screen could be 1920 horizontal and >= 1080 vertical. A 14" screen would be in the 1440x900...
Looking at purchasing a laptop, and SSD prices are exceptionally high. Does it make sense to purchase a laptop and buy the SSD second hand? Will any 2.5 incher work? I would like to think so, but I also know that computer manufacturers enjoy creating proprietary connection interfaces.
Shot in the dark here - but I am looking at laptops and the Dell 1464 has caught my eye.

I have a server that I would like to upgrade a bit from a data safety standpoint. The box runs WS08 R2, installed on a single 320gb WD drive with a second 320gb WD drive (same but an extra revision or two) for storing virtual machines. The server is always on (24/7) and acts as an AD/DNS server...
Anyone run a Zalman 9900 in an Antec P193? Will it fit? I have the 9500 or 9700 right now in an Antec P182 and it fits but would like bigger for this new machine...

I am a total noob when it comes to networking and having to sort through all the various devices and the hundreds of standards they support (or don't... or might) is confusing to say the least. I am looking into (re)building a network to support gigabit ethernet and have a few questions. I...
Currently have a Gigabyte DS3L (or is it D3SL?) and want to replace it. I am getting sick of seeing the BSOD and have tested every single stick of memory. So I am just going to start throwing parts at the thing.
Needs to be reliable as it will be on 24/7/365. Needs to support 8gb (4x2) of...

I am building it now, and it is making my quad cores go insane in CPU usage!
In case you some how missed the release of DreamSpark, hook in and get your free software. If your school is not listed, speak with your department head or use one of the provided work arounds. I used one of the work arounds and it worked out well.

I am looking to build an E8400 based desktop (if I can find one for sale anywhere!) but am having trouble understanding a lot of the randomly named motherboards and RAM.
For instance, when a motherboard reads DDR2 1200 standard, does that mean it requires DDR2 1200?
Also, the E8400 states...
