    Forcing computer to idle

It would need to include body/face recognition to make sure that the computer locks even if someone enters the room while I'm leaving it :P Joke aside, I think I already mentioned that my problem was mostly solved, the win-L shortcut and the 1min monitor turn off time is fine for me: "I...

    Forcing computer to idle

I've already done that as stated above and I know that turning off the monitor won't stop anyone from accessing the computer, that's why I wanted something that locks the computer the same time the monitro turns off.

    Forcing computer to idle

I actually prefer to only have the monitor turn off, as I have some background programs I still want to run. Still, thanks for the tip, I may find some use for it soon ;)

    Forcing computer to idle

I actually also want to set a task/another programs event (it has this option) to trigger on lock. The problem with screensaver is it that the computer is locked after screensaver is exited and not when it is entered, so my task would actually trigger when I come back to the computer (tried this...

    Forcing computer to idle

Sorry for the late reply, I thought this thread wouldn't be followed up any more and didnt' really check. Thanks Binky for this trick, I'm currently trying it out. Nothinman is right, writing this command in notepad and saving it as a bat file will lock the computer each time it's executed...

    Forcing computer to idle

Sounds interesting, although I guess it's really something you set-up only for the fun of it and end up using it once in a month :) Anyway the short-cut solved most of my problems and I've set my monitor to turn off after one minute, so I should be fine now, thanks again for your help :)

    Forcing computer to idle

I actually prefer to turn the monitor off instead of standby, as I often have some applications still running in the background. I also like to have the power key shut down the computer, as I sometimes use it for that. Thanks for the short-cut, it helps a lot. I didn't really want to set...

    Forcing computer to idle

Nope, I'm actually on a desktop. I don't want to leave my computer unlocked even for a few minutes, as there are other people around who could easily get access. So I don't want to wait for the automatic idle/sleep mode to kick off, although I've set it to only 3 mins Right now, when I want to...

    Forcing computer to idle

I know this might seem like a curious question, but is there a way to actually force your computer to go to idle mode (with hotkeys for example), if you know your going to leave it for some time anyway? It would save me some time not having to lock it, close the screen and all that. If a...

Looking for pc capable of running crysis 2 60fps 1080p max settings via HDMI to HDTV

Really like mnewsham's build, made me wish I could get the same :) Just something I wanted to add, is that according to this review http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/crossfire-sli-3-way-scaling,2865.html crossfire seems to scale a lot better than sli in this generation graphics cards...

    First-time build, feedback appreciated

My bad, thanks for the correction. I hadn't checked anandtech benchmarks and based my comment on this review http://www.guru3d.com/article/radeon...6870-review/10 (recommends 450W) but it's obvious that with 250W you won't have any problems. Other than that, I'd agree with the comment about...

    First-time build, feedback appreciated

I'm not quite sure about the PSU. I'm not saying it won't work and it's a very good PSU, but I think AMD is suggesting a 500W PSU for this graphics card. Of course, they have to estimate other system components and they have to take people who will buy a crappy PSU (=low efficiency) into...

Forcing window to remain in foreground

Is there any way to temporarily lock a window to remain in foreground, so it doesn't automatically slide back when you click on another (full screen) window. Basically, what I want to do is to have a browser in full screen and put a notepad or an IM utility on some parts of a web-page I will...

Just what I remember from the deluxe is a CMOS reset button (instead of jumper) and a front panel USB 3.0 bay.

Building a gaming PC for 1k - first build in years

My bad I didn't made it to clear in my first post, just don't think you need DDR3 1600 RAM, so basicaly I meant you could pay a little premium and get a DDR3 1333 8GB Kit. Of course, 4GB is fine for most tasks, you wouldn't have any problem with them. As for the graphics card, my (just personal...

    Gaming PC build advice? Help?!

Had that problem too, try to install ethernet drivers from your motherboard cd/manufacturer site Also, if you still can't connect you could try to go to the command prompt and ping first the router and then an internet site to see where the problem lies.

Building a gaming PC for 1k - first build in years

No reason to get the 2500K if you don't plan to overclock or at least use the integrated graphics, 2500 would be fine too. Your graphic card seems a bit overkill for the resolution you'll be gaming at, you would probably be fine with a 6870 or less. At least you could get the 1GB version of the...

Intel Sandy i5-2500 Build Input Please

Not sure, but I think for the tasks you mentioned you could maybe go with a lower model for the processor, you might be fine getting the i5-2300 or even an i3 sandy bridge. As for the graphics: If it's really just for poker intel hd2000 will suit you fine in any case. If it's for gaming...

Can I access RAM slots on p8p67 + Hyper 212

Don't know if this is useful to your, but I'm using the NH-D14 monster, and I can still squeze my RAM (RipjawsX) on the A2 slot without removing the cooler. Still, I guess you could just remove the fan (and not the whole heatsink) and fit the RAM without problems.

    Still pick Asus P8P67 boards?

Have you got any of your drives on the Marvel ports? I'm not sure, but I think this hard drive check refers only to them. I don't think it's that bad, but if you're not using them you can disable them in the BIOS, it could maybe save you 1-2 seconds on boot time.

    WD Caviar Black 1TB or a 2nd Spinpoint F3 1TB in RAID

I'm thinking I might need some more storage on my computer, and I was wondering what would be better: Add a second Samsung Spinpoint F3 (to my existing one) and use them in RAID, or get a WD Caviar Black (about 20$ more expensive). I'm using a Crucial RealSSD 64GB for boot/main applications.

OCZ Vertex 2 60gb seems slow...

I was thinking about getting one new SSD. I was between Crucial Reall SSD C300 64 GB or the OCZ Vertex 2 60G GB, which are at the same price for me. Did you say that a new firmware fixed your issues or that there is a built-in problem with the quality of NAND? I was leaning towards the...
