    It looks like weapons testing to me. The pockmarked earth in the surrounding area suggests that they are patterns to try confuse some sort of targeting system.

    It's just legacy support. ISA was the standard before PCI came along. There are still companies producing mobos with ISA slots for specialist research and manufacturing hardware that is too expensive to upgrade to PCI/PCI-e. Have a read here...

    I have a 2500k @4.6ghz and 1.28v, hyper 212+ with stock fan and ft-02 so essentially the same cooling as you. I get 60c with prime with 18c ambient. Have a read of this on how to apply your thermal paste...
