Haha, thanks for saving me there.

This is the mobo, it turns out that it's quite capable. With a 1950xt it runs most games well. I just need to upgrade the card and its a decent gaming machine...
I suppose that's an option. I have the psu/ram/case.
I don't know much about it, it does have a pcie slot but I assumed it wasn't the greatest. Ill run some gaming benchmarks tonight Ill go from there.
I have access to a Asus p5g41-m LE for 25 dollars, would this be a worthy upgrade?
Thanks for the responses. I think I will just settle on a decent single card mobo based on responses. As for selling it, I honestly just wanted to build a cheap XP gaming machine/windows 2008 server.
My girlfriend just gave me her old mobo(dell) which after a closer look it turns out it had a core2duo e8400 on it. So I'm looking to build a reasonable gaming rig around it.
I need advice on a small selection of mobos that would allow for moderate (air) overclocking and hopefully sli...
If the usb rail (5v blue) is overloaded I'm not sure if it would sense it or not. (Most only sense gnd, 12v and 5v (red)) I could be wrong of course. However if it does notice an unhealthy dip it will go into a continuous reset cycle. Have you tried other USB devices?
I use Win 7 and it has numerous compatibility issues with even last gen games, whats worse is that there is often a sig decrement in performance on dx9 games... So you're right, you likely were getting lower fps.
Have it. Damn good cable management and plenty of room for a mid tower. If I remove the optional drive bays there is plenty of room for my dual 5870s too.
Yeah... that is odd. I will say this, it also did it when I replaced the cooler, atleast on 2 different occasions, I had to press down on the top of the cpu or reseat it. Excellent mobo but I'm not so sure about the socket pins.
Perhaps you could RMA at this point?
I've had this issue when i first built mine, it seemed to be an issue with the cpu seating, although that doesn't sound like it based on the bios update. I would try reseating it if you haven't already. Also, the ram issue may be because you aren't using tri channel memory.

So I was just experimenting with OCing, I don't plan on keeping it OC'd until later when it starts to show its age. Either way I was using intel extreme tuning, and I pushed it too far at the voltage I wanted and it restarted etc. After that...
I've heard 82 is the upper limit and even more that intel actually rates the upper range around 72c (this is for the i7 non SB) So yeah, that seems quite warm, I would just head out to radio shack and grab some AS5 for 10 dollars, just to be on the safe side.
She's still at stock. (played around with 3.7ghz on the 212 but not for more than a day).
and BoomerD, that's interesting... I may give it another go. I will say this, it is significantly louder, even at its lowest setting. That is compared to the 212 with TWO 120mm fans.
I recently purchased an I7 950 and slapped a Hyper 212 plus on it to keep it nice and frigid. It would hover around 29c-31c at idle and wouldn't break 50c-51c under prime95. I snagged a zalman cnps10x extreme off of Craig's list for dirt cheap and swapped it out. Now I'm idling around 33c-34c...
I pulled the trigger, can't beat free shipping. Plus I had a random 20 bucks in my paypal game from an ebay sale. Total price after rebate 150 =-)
I'm assuming these will be a stellar replacement for my kenwood 5.1 receiver with yardsale speakers.
