Upgrading From a 4890 - Best Bang for Buck Right Now?

It's funny, I too have a 4890, and I just upgraded to a 7850 for $150, I was pretty pleased with that deal.

Chip rankings: Intel had highest share in over 10 years (EETimes)

You are missing his point obviously, Apple technically isn't on the list because the overwhelming majority of their revenue is obviously from mobile devices, just as for Google, and Microsoft, who's revenue comes from obvious sources. That's kinda his point, that the majority of IBM's revenue...

GTX 680 launch video - Narrated by Ujesh Desai, VP Corporate Marketing - Nvidia

Why would you sell a 7970...? Odds are, if you game at 1920x1080, your card is more than fast enough, if you game at a higher resolution, it would be better to stick with the 7970 and just OC it. There aren't even any OC reviews on this yet.

GTX680, images from THG review leaked

I can already tell Nvidia is going to mess up the pricing on this great card...It's suppose to fill the shoes of the GTX 560 and GTX 570, and so it should be priced around there. I would say $359 would be a completely reasonable price for a card like this. We all know that the only reason the...

GTX680, images from THG review leaked

Its called having new and shiny stuff, its always overpriced. Remember the last time Nvidia was first to the market with the next generation? You might not be old enough to remember given your antics, but I distinctly remember the GTX 8800's sitting pretty at just over $800. But that't not rape...

Only when the 7970 magically loses 10 or 20 FPS from previous benchmarks :hmm: That said though, who knows, no real benchmarks have been released, and with that little tidbit of info, I'm not so sure how legitimate these are.

Have people figured out yet if this is middle end or high end? I thought people were saying the first card released would be the replacer to the GTX 560, and that its replacing GF104 type architectures. Now this is called GTX 680, and beats AMD high end...Was the community mislead to begin with...

    AMD 7950s are on Newegg

Why is everyone complaining about prices? For one, pretty sure AMD set the MSRP of the 7970 to $479, so these high prices aren't entirely their doing. Secondly, they just came out, why does everybody freak out when parts that just come out are overpriced and ones that are about to be replaced...

Do 'retina' displays eliminate the need for AA?

I'm hoping we find a more elegant and advanced way of displaying images by the time resolutions reach that point. Possible custom HD 7970 on (or near) release?

I really love all MSI products, but their video cards are probably their best. The Twin Frozr cooler is one of the best, and MSI cards very generally OC the highest, use the least power, or are the coolest, and sometimes all 3 at the same time  Asus DCII is also quite nice, I'd say the...

Intel Ivy Bridge CPUs will be available on April 8

I know Intel has absolutely no competition and no reason to make these fast, but it really would be nice if they starting both cranking up the speed and price of the incoming CPU's. And by speed, I dont necessarily mean clock speed, but just architecturally speaking, make these faster. If...

I think a lot of people are looking at this card all wrong. When you actually think about things, this quite is much better than a lot of people are thinking, or atleast, AMD's strategy with this card is much more commendable. Few points to consider: 1. When the 5870 first came out, it wasn't...

I highly doubt it will unlock into a 6970, but I'd agree it will be a much better value as usual and have some sweet OC headroom. To be honest, I'm more curious how GCN responds to higher clocks, VLIW5 and VLIW4 could be OC'ed 20% but only get like 12% more performance, where as say a GTX 560...

I don't see why people complain so much. The alternative is NDA is lifted same day as launch, so we get reviews the day they are released. If there's a paper launch, we get to see benchmarks and reviews of the card a few days to a few weeks in advance, so that we can make an educated choice of...

To be honest I agree. [CPU World] Prices of Ivy Bridge desktop processors

Very nice prices, seems like Intel is basically freezing their pricing scheme like this until (if ever) AMD chooses to release a competitive product. $1000 for super high end 6-8c $300-320 for highest clocked quad core with HT $220 for highest clocked unlocked quadcore w/o HT. These prices...

Extremetech: "AMD cancels 28nm APUs, starts from scratch at TSMC"

As long as they keep making GPU's, who needs AMD? Why is everyone complaining, its not like we really even have games that can really test current GPU's. I mean I'm playing BF3 with most of the eye candy on ultra and I'm using a OC'ed 4890, so 45% from the shrink alone and then perhaps another 10-20% with changes to the arch's is not only...

    Ask AMD about BD?

Why? BD for desktops is absolutely HORRID, but he works for servers. In all the reviews, the only apps where BD beat i7's were things similar to what you would see in server workloads. Therefore, BD could still be a beast for servers, and thats all he cares about, since thats the division he...

    In defense of "Bulldozer"

I have a feeling AMD lost a lot of fans...and rightfully so. Not to mention by the time...

  35. Ares1214

Why is the response to Bulldozer so overwhelmingly negative?

I dont really like this argument to be honest, I can understand BD might be better for about 1% of the 1% of enthusiasts, just as a 1090T was better than the i7 920 for a decent chunk of enthusiasts, but the differences are absolutely insane. A 8150P starts at higher clocks, and OC's less...
