Comparison of different ASUS P67 motherboards

I had dropped drives, random freezes, double boot, and no wake from sleep - only one I could fix was the double boot. Switched to a P8Z68-V Pro and have had no problems ever since, so I'm sympathetic to the complaints about P67.

Need help picking a P67/Z68 board

Go for the Z68 - too many unhappy P67 users (myself included, so I'm biased!)

Where's, "Option H: already upgraded after dealing with 4 months of headaches with P67"? Z68, what P67 should have been.

    New Sandy Bridge build Advice!

Judging from both personal experience and the high volume of posts on various boards, P67 is pretty finicky. If you go with P67 over Z68, make sure you're getting memory on the QVL.

What to do about P8P67 Deluxe?

Well, just as an update for anyone in the same boat, I exchanged the P8P67 Deluxe for a P8Z68-V Pro (kudos to MicroCenter - they even honored my combo discount on the board from my original purchase in January - no hassles at all). So far, everything has gone smoothly. Only hiccup was getting...

What to do about P8P67 Deluxe?

Tried RAM at 1333 and changed the C states to disabled except for C6, still no luck. Running at stock with the unofficial 1606 BIOS, which I flashed to over the weekend out of desperation. Cleared CMOS at several stages, but also to no effect. I've tried all the various fixes that have been...

    Bios

Well, the P8P67 vanilla board has a 1401 BIOS. You made a reference in your other thread about a company setting up the board? Is this the BIOS that came with the board, or did someone build/set it up for you? If the latter, they might have installed the wrong BIOS.

    Detecting Drives

Are you using the gray Intel 6Gb/s ports or the navy blue Marvell 6Gb/s ports? I would disable the Marvell ports, as they're only supposed to be used with data drives, and slow down the boot process. Unless your HDD is 6Gb/s, you might want to connect it to the light blue Intel 3Gb/s ports.

What to do about P8P67 Deluxe?

Thanks. I did try both the wake-up from PCI-E and disabling PLL overvoltage fixes, to no avail, but will try tweaking RAM as suggested. Will also adjust C states so only C6 is enabled. I'll try anything at this point! :)

What to do about P8P67 Deluxe?

It could indeed be something else (perhaps the SSD or memory), but I also don't want to find out it's just a quirk of the board and lose the opportunity to exchange it. Yes, I have hot swap enabled for the C300, I was originally using the Intel RST drivers but subsequently removed them. I've...

What to do about P8P67 Deluxe?

Well, I've spent a month trying to iron out the bugs in my P8P67 Deluxe B3, and Saturday is the last day I can return the board to MicroCenter. I still have the occasional freeze, it periodically fails to wake/connect to the monitor when booting or waking just the monitor, and, despite the best...

Thinking of switching from P8P67 Deluxe to GA-P67A-UD4

Well, I believe I have until May 15 to return the P8P67 Deluxe, so the Z68 boards might or might not be in stock by then. The Z68 features really don't offer me anything I need, although if it's a more stable platform and the cost differential isn't too high, I'd certainly be tempted to upgrade.

Z68 Chipset launching in May 11th.

Any advantages other than Quicksync and SSD caching? Neither of those appeal to me, but given my problems with the P8P67 I might be willing to upgrade if the darned thing was just stable.

Is the P8P67 PRO really a lemon?

My B2 board was a P8P67 Pro, and my issues were the dual boot problem and randomly dropping drives, however, clearing CMOS and upgrading to the most recent BIOS fixed problems. I now have a B3 P8P67 Deluxe and mainly suffer from the dual boot problem and the resume from sleep problem. None of...

Thinking of switching from P8P67 Deluxe to GA-P67A-UD4

I did a clean install of Windows when swapping out the board. Haven't played with the DIMM slots yet - will look at that this weekend. Also installed MST, but that didn't help either. Praying for a new BIOS to come out soon!

Thinking of switching from P8P67 Deluxe to GA-P67A-UD4

Thanks. I'm using both XMP and the latest BIOS - 1503. And I've already disabled the PLL overvoltage - all the suggested fixes. So far, no luck. The first board worked great, but this particular one just seems more finicky, perhaps with the memory, perhaps with something else.

Thinking of switching from P8P67 Deluxe to GA-P67A-UD4

Thank you all for the thoughtful feedback. I can live with memory at 1300 and will give that a try, along with any other possible fixes or BIOS updates that come out in the next couple of weeks (the most recent BIOS updates are dated 4/1, 3/18, and 3/1, with another reportedly on the way). Thinking of switching from P8P67 Deluxe to GA-P67A-UD4

Bought the i5 2500k + Asus P8P67 Pro combo from MC, had some initial problems with double booting and periodic dropping of drives that were solved by clearing CMOS and updating the BIOS. MC took forever getting in the B3 P8P67 Pro boards, so they gave me the same discount on a P8P67 Deluxe. Now...

Has Microcenter replaced ANYONE's Asus P67 Recalled Board?

Yeah - lesson learned! I wasn't ready to take apart my rig, and I figured plenty more were on the way. Neither the MD nor the VA stores (both essentially part of the greater DC metro area) have any P8P67 Pro boards.

Well this is getting annoying. The MD store briefly showed 4 or 5 in stock, but they disappeared within a day and I haven't seen any since. Called this morning to be told that they didn't have any, but "might get one on Friday."

    MicroCenter P67 Mobo Update

Will I get P67 Bios Support if I choose not to return the mobo?

It's just a guess on my part, but that's what I'm figuring. The "new" boards will probably just be the same as before, except with a tweaked Cougar Point chip to eliminate or correct the leaky transistor behind this whole fiasco.

Will I get P67 Bios Support if I choose not to return the mobo?

There are already 4 BIOS versions for the P8P67 Pro (I'm using 1053), and indications are that ASUS is working on BIOS 1302. Unlike Gigabyte, ASUS seems to be committed to continuing to support their P67 boards while the big recall is taking place...

CM 690 II Advanced - Cooling Options

I do have the option of a side fan, but I believe the height of my heatsink would rule that out. Wouldn't a side fan disrupt the airflow from front/bottom to top/rear? Dust isn't too much of a concern for me, as my daughter has pretty severe allergies so we keep an air purifier running 24/7...

CM 690 II Advanced - Cooling Options

A slightly different take on an earlier question, regarding optimal cooling for the CM 690 II Advanced. As you can see, it has numerous fan options, and since I'm going to replace my cooler, I may as well add a fan or two while I'm at it. Stock fans are 140mm intake in the front, a 140mm...

    i5 2500K Cooling Questions

Not real happy with the temps in my i5 2500K rebuild - idle in the upper 30's and running Prime 95 I hit upper 80's. Strange and varied issues with new Sandy Bridge build...

I'm having some of the same problems with my build. For the cold boot problem, where the power cycles on and off, a solution I found on the ASUS boards is to clear the RTC RAM (CMOS) while the computer is turned off. Move the jumper from 1 and 2 over to the right, to 2 and 3, and then back...

    P8P67 Pro problems

Thanks, Bankster55, that makes sense. The only part I'm not clear on is creating the F6 floppy drivers on USB. Is there a link for that? And is that to install the Intel AHCI drivers? Thanks in advance. It's been 5 years since my last full build, and there's a lot to catch up on.

    P8P67 Pro problems

I have to confess that's the first I've heard of doing the SSD driver installation from USB, although I'm aware that SSDs need to be on AHCI and installed with no other hard drives connected. Installed Win 7 64 to my SSD on my i5 2500K/P8P67 Pro rebuild, and promptly lost all my drives when I rebooted, and was unable to boot to Windows, just to BIOS. Msi or Asus for P67

I have the P8P67 Pro and it's still not up and running. Found quite a few complaints about this on the ASUS forums. Also, after I got Windows installed...

Confounded by Sandy Bridge build - help!

The SATA default was AHCI, and for a while I was able to see any drives that were connected (although for the Windows install only the SSD and optical drive were connected). After I lost the drives I also tried setting SATA to IDE, but that hasn't helped either. I didn't get as far as...
