IMO, one of the effects of lack of competition. When a company competes with only itself it has a lot more leeway to do things like this.

Indicative of Intel having a hard time getting design wins in mobile without offering rebates ("contra revenue")?

Toshiba announced their chromebook 2 with a 13 inch 1080P screen for $330. Shame it's not using a Haswell celeron but a dual core BayTrail one but still nice to see a decent display on a budget offering. An USB 3 port, Bluetooth 4.0, and 802.11ac wifi are nice touches...

Nice to see a push for mainstream 4K PC resolution but can we also expect Intel to tighten up its resolution requirements for ultrabooks?

They said the BF4 special edition GPU will be pre-orderable a week from now, so why so little actual information? Do they expect people to pre-order it without any more concrete details regarding it's specs? Or is this some bizarre idea marketing came up with to add "suspense and anticipation"...
Intel is very serious about gaining in the very low power market. Will have to see actual power numbers but it sounds like their version of ARM's Cortex M-series...

I think the current FX 9370 and 9590 are actually a bad idea and if they were determined to create a ~200W TDP product line it should be Steamroller based. Kaveri is supposedly on track for release this year, I think a manufacturer certified high clocked Kaveri would have been the way to...

With the current Haswell expectations being similar to SB->IB there has been musings that this may be the opportunity AMD needs to narrow the gap in CPU performance.

Rumor-mill was getting a bit much I guess. Intel statement still leaves plenty of room for more separation of enthusiast parts from mass consumer ones.

I'm liking what I see in the Anandtech preview. If the price is reasonable I'll definitely be willing to early adopt an x86 phone. Intel should really push a unified x86 application marketplace, apps that are functional from all your x86 devices.

they will have to sell it in that future, ugh. A cheap Phenom II x6 is looking like a good idea now for my AMD board. That or I need to run one of those compile everything for your uArch Linux distros.
