Recently my screen started freezing. No input worked. I had to shutdown and restart. It kept on freezing after a couple minutes after a few restarts and then would'nt boot at all no screen, audio . All I get is a beep tone...2short3 long. I searched for what that means and I can't find it even...
I have a HP Pavillion DV6449 US laptop( AMD Turion 64 X2 1.8 ghz cpu). I upgraded the OS to Win7 32 bit. Can I add 2 new sticks of 2x2gb of DDR2, since WIN 7 supports it? I asked HP about this and got no response. I asked Corsair and their answer was hazy.
I asked this question about 3 years ago and got a mixed response.
Will simply setting a elevated 3" fan over the backside of the GPU help cool it? I think it would for OC'ing. What do you think?
I plan to build a i5 2500k, Z68, and a single HD 6870. However, I'm going to use my older Viewsonic 20" LCD 1440x1050 full screen monitor. Will the 6870 be overkill? I'll be playing games like Starcraft II, Crysis, etc.
I just downloaded and played the SC II demo and it played fine. However, during the download it said that my system was underpowered to play the game. Did it mean it was underpowered to play the retail version?

I noticed MSI is advertising military grade mobo's. They supposedly have high grade caps, a thicker board, etc. Is this true, or just a marketing scheme?
Every time I start my computer there's certain programs that load on my taskbar. Some I want, but some just refuse to be deleted no matter what I do. I've gone to Startup, Taskbar tools, etc. to delete them, but they still show on the taskbar when I reboot or start my computer.
I'm currently playing old space games ( Wing Commander,Tachyon, Starcraft,DarkStar I,etc.) on Win XP Pro. I plan on a new build using Win 7 64 bit. Will these old games load on the new OS?
I'm currently running XP Pro. I'll be doing a new build soon and wondered if my old games (Starcraft, Tachyon, Wing Commander series, Darkstar One,etc.) will play on Win7 32 or 64?
I'm doing a inexpensive build using a x2 555be. If the the cores unlock, that's a bonus. I'll be overclocking w/ a new HSF. I'd like a reliable excellent OC'ing mobo w/ a 8xx chipset, USB 3/ DDR3 1600 support and no onboard video for about $80. Any help would be appreciated. Oh, Ill be using a...
I have $300 or so to spend on cpu/mobo/ram. I have everything else. I'm looking for a AMD Athlon II x3 or x4,or Phenom IIx3,4 that can be unlocked to x4 and can have the L3 cache unlocked to 6gb. The mobo doesn't need USB3 or SATA3 or built in video. I'm partial to ASUS, but another board with a...
My son's Dell Dimension 4550 shut down and won't reboot. I took the case off, blew out the dust and noticed there was a crusty red clay looking substance on the tops of two of the mobo capacitors. Is this what caps look like when they leak or go bad?
I need a good mobo that OC's well with this CPU with no problems for a gaming machine. Case/cooling/CPU cooling/PS is all ready taken care of.I'll be using 4-8 Gb of DDR 3 1600,probably G.Skill Ripjaw. I don't run multitasking, and I close all programs before I play my games. Also, the mobo I...
I have a Sunbeam CoreContact Freezer mounted on my Opteron 140. I want to use this on a new build using a AMD Phenom x4 955. The Sunbeam works on AM2 designs, the 955 is a AM3. I read where the AM+,AM2, and AM3 used the same mounting clips. If this is true, can I use my Sunbeam on a 955?
I'm doing a new build. I've decided to go with a Phenom x4 955 CPU, a ASUS M4A87TD/USB3 870 mobo, and 4gb of G.Skill Ripjaw DDR3. I want to lower the timings of the ram as much as I can. I know the Ripjaw is at 1.5v. So, should I go with the 1600 or 2000 of the Ripjaw? Or, is there a DDR3 out...

I've been helping a friend with his computer. He has a HP model PS583AA desktop using a P4 3.04 GHZ, Asus mobo, 512mb DDR2 5300,and XP home SP2. I advised him to go to 2gb ram and a a new HD ( his is starting to make some noise). I want to get him a 1tb SATA HD(so he can put in a new build...

I bought a HP Pavillion laptop a year ago. 98% of the time it's plugged into the AC. I've heard this will degrade the battery pack over time. Should I remove the battery pack?
I'm confused. Is it a good idea to clean and repaste CPU's/GPU's every year or so. I've gotten mixed answers on this subject from the CPU and Vid card forums.
No cross posting. The question was answered in your other thread.

I've read that the 40nm GPU in this card has a problem of heavy leakage and poor manufacturing yields. I guess this is sometimes a problem on new processors. Should one be worried about buying this first run vid card with a GPU that has leakage? What's the long term dependability? Will it OC...
It looks like the availability of these cards are drying up. NewEgg only has 2 and Mwave has one. Also, Mwave had the reference card sold out with a June 15th ETA, but now it's not listed. What's up?
A friend of mine said to repaste the CPU/GPU HS paste every 1.5/2 years depending on use or OC'ing. He said the paste degrades and dries out to a clay like substance and doesn't transfer heat as well. Is this true?
I want to upgrade my 7600GT in my present system. Also, I'd like to use the upgrade in a near future build.
