Poll: Should you be able to get a refund on bad games?

Go rent the game first. If it's something worth while buy a good one in the CD/DVD case. If the game is a junk, move on. Life is too short to putz around looking at game reviews and joe's posting stupid stuff.

    external drive failure rate?

I have an external HDD docking station (cradle) that takes internal SATA drives or SATA laptop drives. The Tripp-Lite unit is sturdy, reliable and can run for 24/7 easily. The connection is via USB-2 or eSATA port to the PC/Laptop...

Liquid CPU cooling makes a rattling noise.

A simple answer to your question. In most instances, the noise in a cooling loop relates back the the only moving part of the loop. That being the pump. The other less issues of a loop is something that has become a moving object that circulates or flutters with the flow of the coolant. When...

    Compact Fluorescents

They didn't ban halogen bulbs nor LED types. Also, they didn't ban the regular light bulbs under 40W either. Put two 40W together and the lumens are brighter. If you have a table lamp, get a bulb splitter to run two 40W bulbs. They didn't ban automotive nor RV/Marine incandescent 12VDC...

How old is your motherboard, and how many upgrades did you do with it?

My system is about the age of yours. It's living just fine without replacing anything. My sig shows the details. At one time, it was on the top end. ;P All too funny. I read my sig after posting here and realized I had upgraded the RAM to 4Gb and the HDD to 1Tb recently. If I plan to...

If the US economy went belly up..

I'd go home to my parents. They live in the country and are almost totally self supporting on the farm. I would avoid any city over 35,000 people if possible. I would have to ditch the desktop and use the laptop off of the grid using renewable energy stand-alone sources.

Are part time jobs replacing full time?

Three years ago, my dad's company stopped hiring people direct. Only top management is direct, all other people work for contract houses in a large 200 person office space for the company he is in. AND guess what. The top management is always looking at how to reduce the current staff of...

    Is this Overkill?

So much talk here about the Delta's. They are hard to control. Only a rare few fan controllers can handle them. The new Aquaero 5 would be a must in this case. As for the rasa kit, it's a very good performer, however the drawback is the 750 pump. Some of the pumps work fine while others...

Water cooling fluid ... what exactly do you guys use?

Because the Dexcool is a long life/extended life coolant that has the fewest corrosion inhibitors. Also, DexCool is pH corrosive in air just like the original coolant there was in the G5 to begin with. Look up on google, Dexcool and class action and see some shocking info. Dexcool is not...

Water cooling fluid ... what exactly do you guys use?

The Delphi LCS uses copper/brass and aluminum in that G5 OEM loop. Distilled water will allow the loop to go full blown galvanic corrosion with those mixed metals. The kill-coil will enhance the reaction. The Sierra PG coolant mixture to the distilled water is safest bet to run the loop.

Water cooling fluid ... what exactly do you guys use?

If this cooling loop is the original G5 liquid cooling unit, then stop all considerations for fluid recommendations. The original unit has mixed metals of steel, nickle, copper and aluminum. With that said, the original coolant used is a saline solution with an unbalanced pH. One would need...

    Are side fans really beneficial?

Back during my air cooling days, I had a Thermaltake copper cooler vs a friend's stock cooler. the Thermaltake was rated near the top performer in many OCing sites. However, my friend had a side case fan alright, it was a typical desk fan. He had the side panel off and left the fan just blow...

A question to you all experts about stopping a CPU fan.

A few years back, Corsair sold a WCing unit called the HydroCool 200EX. When the CPU temps got too high or the cooler failed, it took the computer to shut-down mode. It was the first of it's kind to do this without using the BIOS of the computer. Thus, it would work on all computers in...

CPU temps high all around, concerned...

I take it that this system is air cooled. Usually in 2 years, the heatsink loads up with enough dust bunnies to increase the heat to a good level. With that said, the fan on the heatsink will work harder until the dust gets into the rotating parts to drive the fan. Also, heatsink fans are...

Will this be ok or do i need to add another radiator?

Since nobody has replied, have you done a quick search on the web for computer watt calculator? There are a few good ones still out there. Just enter the type of hardware you have via the pull down menus. the results will tell you how much more cooling you need.

Should I go with water or air cooling?

Martin has done a nice review and is posted in many cooling threads about the universal GPU WCing blocks. Some are indeed not worth the while to even look at while a few are very inexpensive and perform just as good as the ones that fit like a glove. Best of all, if you ever upgrade, the...

    Thermal Paste Application Guidelines

What I have tried and has been proven at a few of the OCing sites is applying the thermal paste like candy dots evenly in a grid pattern. of course the height is very marginal. Many of the retail aftermarket air coolers have this pattern too.

    Cooler?

The H50 is alright and good for a mild OC. It's easier to clean overall. The H70 is a better unit overall and will do a good OC if you like. Or just run with the H70 with quieter fans and no OC but enjoy the quietness. The Scythe is attractive, takes up less room and is quieter. It will...

If you have the room for a top ended air solution that will good greatly, then stick with it. WCing is not just to keep temps down, it's more of a hobby turned enthusiasts to rub shoulders with the next WCing person or clan. If you are into strong OCing, Folding@Home, heavy gaming often...

Does Anyone Actually Know of a Worn Out SSD Due To Too Many Writes?
