I have a fair bit of technical knowledge but, compared to most of the active users on this forums, I'm definitely an SSD n00b.
Here's the story:
I installed a Samsung 470 four years ago as the boot drive
It's only 60 GB and it currently has 55 GB of stuff on it
I just purchased an 840...
Everything was working fine until today. My computer had been sitting idle for 30 minutes while I was watching TV. I glanced up to see the final seconds of a BSOD and it restarted on its own. All drives still show up in the BIOS.
I swapped the primary boot drive to a SATA 2.0 port and it...
What is the general consensus on P8P67 firmware? Are people pleased with the beta (1053) or should we just stick with what our boards shipped with until a final version is released? Any horror stories either way?
Apparently this is the only change in the beta firmware...
Is there any reason to connect a SATA 3 SSD to your motherboard using a SATA 6 port? I'm guessing there won't be a performance difference but I'm not entirely sure. And I've heard that you should install your OS using one of the S3 ports anyway, so there might not be any reason to change ports...
I don't think I'm willing to wait for the Micron C400 (scheduled to release in February) so that leaves me with two strong SSD contenders. Both are SandForce drives and they both cost about $130. The winner will be my boot drive on a 2600K+P8P67 machine and it will be paired with a Spinpoint F3...
I figured it might be good to have a central thread to discuss all of the new third-gen SSDs that are announced this week. I'll do my best to keep this thread updated as CES rolls on.

I had my heart set on getting a P67 motherboard for my 2600K but now I'm tempted to get an H67 instead for Quick Sync (I do a lot of video editing/transcoding). So I'd really like to know how the two architectures stack up in terms of overclocking and networking/memory access before making a...
Edit: the mystery is partially solved--apparently you need an H67 motherboard to make use of Quick Sync at launch.
Video editing is one of the primary reasons why I'll be buying a 2600K but I'm really concerned by what I've been hearing about Quick Sync support, particularly what Anand said...
