Will you help Donald Trump make America great again?

We don't care, no one needs you.

Trump will win in a landslide

Not everyone, just the members of the establishment.

    So why did Hillary lose?

Yep, Bernie would have won, and Hillary stealing the nomination from him killed her.

What do you consider the best deal in used graphics cards?

Async compute won't matter through Pascal, it isn't even on 99% of devs' radar. Projects that started with the updated tools won't be released into the wild until late 2017 at the very earliest, more likely 2018-19. Gearing up for that now is sheer folly. It's better to put your $ into what's...

Same price (new): custom design 1070 vs 980ti

No. They haven't even dropped the 600 series yet.

What do you consider the best deal in used graphics cards?

Async compute won't be much of a factor through this current generation, as far as major and indie titles are concerned. They have to account for the 100s of millions of Keplers, Maxwells, and even APUs in the installed base. It'll matter for benchmarks, but that's more of an epeen thing. I'm...

What do you consider the best deal in used graphics cards?

Public landfills. I was dumping some junk on Saturday and saw some cases in the "office crap" area and looked them over. One looked like a fairly new Dell, so after a quick inspection I scooped it up and put it in the trunk of my car. (I'm not sure if it was actually legal, but I did it...

    Upgrading from a 290X

I got a pair of Open Box 980TI Lightning LEs for my dad for $490 total from B&H, both OC to >1540 with ease, 1440 w/o touching the voltage. I doubt you can find more raw horsepower for the price (given you have a decent PSU).

What did you do with your old video card after upgrading?

Often I give them to family members, upgrading their cards.

What are our prospects for "short" video cards this year?

I have a Fury Nano in my HTPC, got it for cheap used. While it doesn't have an HDMI 2.0 port, I was able to use a Club3D DP > HDMI 2.0 adapter.

Should you be compensated for the GTX 970 issues and spec changes?

No, I'm really not. All the AMD fans crying over cards they never bought (and never intended to buy). As much as you do, amirite? "Oh no, he isn't on the NV hate bandwagon. Burn the heretic!" An NV omission about 500MB of slow VRAM is worth this much drama? Even the 970 owners aren't going...

Nvidia Maxwell-based 900 series cards now going into legacy support

Memory bottlenecks have nothing to do with NV's "benevolence", if you OC a Maxwell card's VRAM to 8GHz or more that issue goes away. Unfortunately, reviewers have chosen to ignore that.
  17. MagickMan

Should you be compensated for the GTX 970 issues and spec changes?

500MB of slow VRAM "blows your mind"? "People need to be outraged over this"? Really? Are you that bored and in need of drama? :\ Hell, I didn't get this PO'd over the Porsche PDK debacle regarding my 911, and it's a $110k car. Perspective, people.
  18. MagickMan

Should you be compensated for the GTX 970 issues and spec changes?

So? Facts? They misrepresented a product, if you bought one you should be pissed, but getting PO'd by proxy is just silly. Some people have been acting like it's the apocalypse, when it's just a relatively minor sin of omission. If the owners are really pissed they can just take their...

Nvidia Maxwell-based 900 series cards now going into legacy support

That's legacy driver support, that's NOT what's happening to Maxwell.
  21. MagickMan

    Cheap high-end 980TI

Because they aren't. They're becoming legacy products, meaning new ones aren't being made, that's not the same as Legacy Driver Support, which won't happen for years. Quit spreading misinformation.

  23. MagickMan

Nvidia Maxwell-based 900 series cards now going into legacy support

That, unfortunately, is correct. Gamers will need to be proactive in optimizing their game settings to avoid getting into that .5 GB of RAM, and that's rather crappy. If a 970 owner plays games that regularly run into this issue, they should sell off their card while it still has some resale...

Nvidia Maxwell-based 900 series cards now going into legacy support

Because Kepler>Maxwell was a major architectural shift, that's not the case from M>P. That doesn't excuse what happened to Kepler owners though, I do think they got a raw deal. they should have been more actively supported, at least through all of Maxwell. (You should be able to expect solid...

Nvidia Maxwell-based 900 series cards now going into legacy support

^^This. The sheer volume of ignorance is almost physically painful to see. Maxwell has been marked as a Legacy Product, meaning they aren't making any more of them, that's not the same as legacy support. Put another way, Maxwell and Pascal are so similar, the latter is essentially a shrunk-down...

Should you be compensated for the GTX 970 issues and spec changes?

Oh, and if you bought a GTX 970 from Amazon, contact Amazon CS. They're offering partial refunds, as much as 50% of the original purchase price, if you complain to them (the typical amount appears to be ~20%).

Should you be compensated for the GTX 970 issues and spec changes?

Yeah, `cause I totally said that. Are you tired? Take a nap if you're "weary". You weren't the person NV was "disrespecting", that was my point. However, you are, right now, acting like they've ripped you off, personally. That's ridiculous, but all too common in cases of...

Should you be compensated for the GTX 970 issues and spec changes?

What I find humorous are the people angry by proxy, they never even bought a 970 but they're "mad as hell and aren't going to take it", out for social justice, etc.. Internet outrage mobs are the best, and by best I mean really awful. :\

    New Pascal Titan X!

Why does even an enthusiast need a 6950X? Why do they need a Titan XP? An OC'd 6850K (or even a bargain bin 5830K) @4.4+GHz is a much more sensible option, but people are still howling over the price of the very limited 6950X, as if they're entitled to one, no matter their budget. And by the...

    New Pascal Titan X!

    Cheap high-end 980TI

Hogwash. This is a Lightning, it's built better than any 1070 will ever be. You buy these for OCing, heavy OCing; like set it at 1525MHz @1.25V (where it thrashes the 1070), without throttling, and forget about it. It's a beast.

Multi-GPU configs are never as good as single cards, ever. You shouldn't rely on them for better performance, re. to reach a desired frame rate and/or resolution, but consider the setup as a nice "bonus" when it actually works as intended. Too many devs simply don't optimize, or even include...

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1234597-REG/msi_gtx_980ti_lightning_le_geforce_gtx_980_ti.html They're built like tanks and can OC like few others. My 980TI Lightning runs >1560MHz perfectly stable w/o throttling, smashing 1070s and matching the 1080. Great deal for $400.
