Thank heavens she DIDN'T win here.. I would have been mortified. Obviously Delaware is inhabited by many intelligent folks. I'm very proud of my state, tonight. :D
kiriakos - Sorry about that, it was working last night. Anyhow, the only thing I see old about it, is maybe the resolution, but I prefer having the extra vertical space.
ps - thanks for posting the correct link. ;)
I'm waiting for this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824176144 .... to come back in stock at NewEgg. It's an MVA/PVA? panel. I've tried both IPS and the aforementioned type, and I like MVA much better for photoshop (better blacks and dark colours in general). At that price, it is...
OP, everyone makes mistakes. Don't beat yourself up over it. As for the cooler, you could just try using some of those soft rubber washers next time. However, I can understand your reluctance to try the same cooler again. Take it easy, a month will pass before you know it. :)
That PSU might be 80 plus, I'm not sure. Look at this: http://www.80plus.org/manu/psu/psu_reports/ROCKETFISH_RF-500WPS2_ECOS%201859_500W_Report.pdf
Also, just from googling around a bit, it seems the OEM might be "Huntkey". I'm not totally sure about that, and I don't know anything about...
If it were me, I'd go with the first option.. simply because I like the Sabertooth board, though.. and because that board has a 5 year warranty. I LOVE that case you have chosen! Wow. I don't think I've ever seen that one before. The low price on it is amazing!
Oh, yeah.. I think he's probably right about that.
I think everything in your build looks good. I still think you should get an SSD, though. :P
Eep... that looks really bad! I'm just surprised that you didn't feel any "resistance" until the bolts were digging trenches into your mobo. At least you'll know what not to do next time. :)
Since you are spending a fair amount of money anyway, why not add an SSD? By the way, I remember you from one of your other threads... what made you decide to go with the i7 over the i5, even though the i5 performs better in most games?
r00st - I have the middle-of-the-road plan, as well (15 mb/s dl, but I forget the upload speed). It will probably depend on where you live, but I consistently get around 20 mb/s download. 15 mb/s is the lowest I've ever seen.
You might want to pick up some thermal grease. Clean the old grease or thermal interface material (TIM) off the heatsink and processor, then apply the new grease. You can find how-to guides on the internet.

EJ - I would take a look at some benchmarks. There are some good ones right here on Anandtech. Out of the games you mentioned, they do have a Starcraft 2 benchmark. Now, they do have the i5 you are considering on that benchmark, but not the 965. They do have the 970, though, so you can...
Seromontis - I couldn't find the exact CPU's you are considering, but here are benchmarks for an i5-750 vs an i7-920 (they are same speed). Looks like the i5 may actually be better for games: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/109?vs=47
I think that was before AMD decided that they wouldn't be able to have their new CPU's be compatible with the AM3 socket. They are now saying that we will need AM3+. However, if you hear anything different let me know! :D
I think your build looks awesome. I'm sure you will enjoy that machine...
Excuse me? Just because YOU don't browse in that manner does not mean people who do "suck at using computers". I like to keep many tabs open, and I know how to use a computer just fine, thank you very much.
Good going guys; some of you have turned a thread about price drops into YET ANOTHER Nvidia vs. AMD argument. Just can't help yourselves, huh?:rolleyes:
I usually have a ton of tabs open, too, and Wikipedia is one of the main sites I do it on. You are right, it is hard not to go clicking on all the embedded links. It's also a huge time-waster. I can spend hours jumping from one topic to another on Wikipedia.. lol.
My computer, which is quite...
How about this, then:
Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813157187 (has nvidia integrated vid)
And the processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103698 (Sempron)
+ the other stuff in mfenn's build. Not sure about how much $ that all adds up to, though.
As for...
+1
Just choose a motherboard from a trusted manufacturer, disable the stuff you don't want to use, and be done with it. Also, do you have a window on your case? I don't see the need to stress over mobo colours, unless you have a windowed case. Personally, I love the red & black colour...
