The only problem is where can you find the NF-M2? I've been searching for a month and no one out there has it in stock. Did Abit just quit making them? I'd love to get that board.
If you throw enough at it, you can choke out any video card. Even the 8800 cards.
BF2 tends to fluctuate dramatically based on the number of bots/players as well as the overall size of the map. Compare the size of the maps you were in and the number of players/bots in each and you will get...
I'm still in the final decision making process for a new AMD dual core system and want to get some feedback from folks who have boards utilizing the Nvidia 500 series chipsets.
There just doesn't seem to be many reviews out there about them. I know most enthusiasts right now couldn't care...
I'm about to build a new AMD X2 system and am starting to wonder if my initial thoughts on video might be a little more than what I actually need. I'll be running the native resolution of my 17" LCD of 1280x1024 in most of my games like Oblivion or BF2142.
Considering that low a resolution...
I've been considering a very similar build. I'm curious about the Biostar though. I know it's listed as a very good O/C board, but how is Biostar as a brand? I had always heard they were kind of a cheap-o short term solution.
What kind of CPU cooling are you going with to allow you to get...
I got the 430W version of the trio for my wife's build a few months ago and it wasn't as great as I thought it would be. 3 weeks after having it, the system would boot, but NONE of the case fans would fire up. We had 1 120 and 2 80's running through the molex that was designated as the fan...
Well at this point I think I'm just going to wait a little while longer. Apparently there will be quite a few price changes in July, so I think I'll just wait and see what happens with that.
Right now there's no real advantage for me to go DX10. Especially in a card that probably won't even perform as well as the DX9 cards. I won't be going Vista for quite some time and I don't tend to be on the cutting edge of gaming. I'd rather wait until there are DX10's in my price range with...
I'm looking at that same MSI card. Not only does it have 512MB it also seems to be better built than many of the other 1950pro cards out there.
But...at $30 more you can get a 1950xt. Though the chipset is better, it just doesn't look like a very well put together card.
But...to save...
Alright, time for a new wrinkle or two:
MSI RX1950PRO-VT2D512E X1950PRO 512MB - $159.99
vs.
SAPPHIRE 100186L Radeon X1950XT 256MB - $189.99
Other than the lower price and more RAM, the MSI looks like a better made and better cooled card. Of course I could go with a 7900GS or a 256MB...
I guess I'm just missing something on the comparison of the CPU's. I agree that in most cases the e4300 will beat a X2 4200+, but with a smaller L2 cache in the e2160, it's probably going to take enough of a performance hit to put it at the same level or lower than the X2 in most cases...
It looks like to me that the Intel vs AMD comparison here comes down to more brand loyalty. I've been an AMD guy for quite a while, so for me to hop to Intel I've got to see some MAJOR benefits. Without overclocking or getting a large L2 cache, I can't see Intel having that major of an...
I'm no expert, but from what I've read you will see the biggest difference in the dual cores when multi-tasking. So if you were running winamp, word, and firefox simultaneously, each of them would be much snappier than normal. It wouldn't seem like winamp was draining your performance as much.
